    You make great content. The quality definitely warrants more subscribers. I think if you put yourself in all your thumbnails it would build brand recognition because your personality is the main selling point of your videos. The stock images give a sort of cheap vibe in my opinion which doesn't reflect the actual content of the video. Just a suggestion, you do you. I'm subbed!

    i got the P950 a year ago and LEARNED to love it besides all the disadvantages. if you find a way to go around these little problems the cam can perform okey´ish.
    i am happy to see somebody makes a video about it.
    from what i have learned so far: video mode isnt good enough to use it for short B-roll clips i can throw in between my action camera shots due to framerate of only 30fps. i shoot always in 60 and wish the cam would have a 2.7k60 mode instead of only 4k30. the processor should be able to handle that. forget to use the zoom in video mode. like ever! way too shaky even on a tripod and it looks like in the video as it is made: cheap plastic kinda feeling.
    photos in RAW dont make much sense. doesnt matter what software you use. i cant find any advantage over jpg. depths are usually too noisy to pull back up and highlights are either blown out or they are not. never had a situation i found RAW made any difference to safe a photo if its slightly too bright or dark.
    if you set everything right with manual white balance and keep ISO below 400 the photos can be good enough to show them around in social media but not enough to print them to hang them on your wall.
    with your permission i post a link to some photos i took

    I've been watching videos about my new camera P950 for some time , and now i am watching yours. Well, good accent, quick and detail descriptions and little funs makes a nice person of you! I am getting with the menus of the camera by taking ideas from your tutorial., As you said, its a full electronic gadget, hope it keeps functioning ok since electronic drifts may not be easy to resolve, what u gon say ? No problem as long it keeps ok ,just would you give some ideas to keep it working. Photography is shaping light to get desired image so, skill applies.
    Please show specific tasks of DSLR that can be minimally approached with this device ( I know it cannot do as good, I purchased this minding its easy handling ). Thanks

    Just bought the 950, I am really impressed with the zoom which fits well with my hobby of photographing birds during my walks. For shooting small birds on a branch on a sunny day, this camera is comparable to equipment costing and weighing several times more. However, the slow focusing is not suitable for capturing birds in flight. I do not even try now because deleting hundreds of pics is no fun. Thanks for the excellent review, I got the affirmation I needed to go ahead with the purchase

      Birding is exactly the reason i never bought P950/P1000 in the first place, as much i liked them once bad autofocus, small buffer, "bad" lens,...
      "For shooting small birds on a branch on a sunny day, this camera is comparable to equipment costing and weighing several times more"
      Serveral times? Are you already talking about minor differences or think, as the average youtuber in a P1000 vs 10.000-20.000$ setup? Thats unreasonable, ofc.
      Compare the P1000 to lets say just my budget setup: Canon R7 + RF 800 F11. I paid less than 2000$ for both, later some other 600$ for a Sigma 150-600C F6.3 for versatility and better low light performance.
      Im not so sure how bad the autofocus really is on those Nikons, but at least i can say my RF 800 F11 or Sigma 150-600C is superior to the P1000 despite priced with camera just about 2x the price of the P1000/P950. I think i got much more than 2x the value of a P1000, just the noticeable better image quality, less noise, proper raw, ISO 25600 usable, burst speed, autofocus, video modes, slowmo,...

    Very cool video; I didn't notice that the top zoom control offers two zoom speeds.
    Note:
    Even selecting 2000mm as the Zoom Memory's initial camera power-up focal length doesn't mean that if you inadvertently overzoom, that you will irretrivably lose the precise subject you are aiming at. This is because you can use the snap-back zoom button on the left side of the body's lens shroud to temporarily pull back from 2000mm until you see your subject; then take your finger off the snap-back button _as soon as you spot the subject_, and then keep the newly re-found subject centered until the lens tracks back to 2000mm. Yes, you also covered snap-back in this video, but the misstatement about Zoom Memory didn't mention that ameliorating feature.
    -and-
    Even though enabling Zoom Memory quantizes the top zoom control to only switch the lens between the selected descrete focal lengths, you can still make continuous zoom adjustments via the side zoom control on the left side of the body's lens shroud.

      I haven't taken a dozen shots with my (new) P950 yet. I'm studying basic photography and camera tutorials, and the reference manual, before I get into full swing. (My 2016 Coolpix S9900 died 2 minutes after leaving the hotel on our first morning in Honolulu, and I subsisted on cell photos for three weeks, sigh. The P950 is a monster by comparison, but the closest Nikon replacement to it (!); thank god for SnapBridge GPS geotagging). Thank you for your humorous and informative videos, and egoless reception of feedback. Rest assured that you are indeed providing VERY valuable introductory info on _both_ photography and camera operations.

    Does the sensor get dust on it? That's always been the thing that bothers me about cameras where you can't get to the sensor / unchangeable lenses.

    Little additional info:
    At 24mm it looks like 24mm F14 and at 2000mm (so 330mm F6.5) it looks like 2000mm F35.
    The real issue i see with the P900, 950 and 1000: As nice the zoom range on these cameras is, the super small sensor is especially compared to modern smartphones just BAD and renders the camera a pretty big, „useless“ piece of tech.
    I would want a P900 and P1000, but only for the vitrine as a „historical“ item which played a big part in Nikons „suicide“.
    The biggest problem i would see personally, also with the smaller P950 but far less annoying i guess - that i ALWAYS have to carry a „huge“ superzoom lens and not even the capability of making a background blurry at wider angles since the 5,5x crop.
    Thats why i just love „good“ lenses, even if its a prime. I loved once my EOS RP + RF 50 1.8…. super compact, yet very versatile with 50mm 1.8 full frame look, only the stabilized RF 35mm would have been more interesting but expensive for a not even tack sharp 35mm 1.8
    In general i use mainly 2 lenses, the 17-55 2.8 (28-88mm) does nearly everything and for wildlife mostly the 150-600 lens (240-960mm, nothing more to wish). On rare occasions the small, compact 50mm macro or the bigger, but very nice and stabilized 100mm 2.8L macro or even more rare, city trips or so when i use a 10-20mm ultrawide lens (16-32mm) for architecture, churches etc.
    I think there is a big difference between „versatility“ in the case of the 24-2000mm of this superzoom camera and the real versatility and possibilities of a interchangable lens camera. For example the R7+ RF-S 18-150 is a lightweight, well stabilized and somewhat very potent travel combo especially for video, sure with its own limitations (slow aperture, „only“ 150mm at the long end) but somewhat ok.
    But it happens to be that you can easily configure the camera with a fast 85 or 100mm lens to a very capable portrait camera, with a 17-55 2.8, 18-35 1.8 etc to a very nice video and low light system with nice possibilities to blow out the background as well.
    Or in my case the killer argument - i want to use it ON the telescope, not „as“ telescope, so interchangable lenses were from the beginning a must have.

      Have you purchased the P950 yet?

    • @harrison00xXx
      @harrison00xXx Před 10 měsíci

      @@konarr7158 Thankfully not. I really wanted the P900 at its release but it was too expensive, P1000 and later P950 werent much better and even more expensive so i sticked to DSLRs these days. Since 2020 i changed to mirrorless (Canon EOS RP, now the R7)
      But i had the P1000 already in my hands for a while and played with it and i can tell you its just a "superzoom lens attached to a smartphone", but an outdated smartphone with bad sensor and electronics and at best an ok-ish superzoom lens.
      The biggest issue with the P900, 950 and 1000: They are big and they dont deliver any good image quality as soon you want out of focus backgrounds or a good image quality in general.
      In Macro usage you might get some pretty awesome shots impossible with most other cameras but in general these cameras are very limiting (capabilities, weight, low light, anything more specialised,....)

    • @harrison00xXx
      @harrison00xXx Před 10 měsíci

      @@konarr7158 If you are looking for versatility, the P900-P1000 cameras are only for you if you only want the superzoom.
      Versatility when it comes to other things like small, fast prime lenses or small/light universal lenses, the possibility to mount the camera on something like for example a telescope or so.... nope, just an expensive modern day monocular.

    • @techtoremember8096
      @techtoremember8096  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi, I would agree with what you are saying for the most part but I don't think they are really competing against mirrorless or DSLR cameras. I think that's a different segment of the market honestly. The 950/1000 offers a very unusual alternative in that you really do get a telescopic zoom with one camera and one lens. Now granted the images are not the same quality as a DSLR or mirrorless BUT they are not bad if the focus lands and you have the right amount a light. Its an an acceptable compromise for some since it might be impossible to get the reach you can with these cameras with a mirrorless or DSLR. These cameras offer you something completely different so I just don't think you can compare them with higher end cameras as they appeal to a different audience, and I think many people have a mirrorless in addition to the Nikon 950 or 1000 and use them when each specific needs arise. Thanks for continuing the dialog however as there is no right or wrong answers here!
