A detailed comparison of the image quality, features, and physical differences between the Sony A7IV versus the flagship, top of the line, Sony Alpha One!
I have both the A1 and A7iv. I consider the latter 90% as good as the A1 at less than half the price. I use them both for different things, the A1, I consider a must for birds in flight due to 30fps and no black out in viewfinder, while I find the A7iv a better general purpose camera. It is the one I use on family outings, tourist trips and for product photography; and for most of my video taking due to its flip out screen. I would not part with either camera. I would say unless you are a dedicated wildlife or sports photographer, or have a need to video at 8k, the A7iv will do it all providing just as good images.
Yes. Having both cameras you really can compare And it’s nice to be able to take the less expensive camera when you go on a trip so you don’t have to worry about a $6500 cam getting lost or damaged
With the technology of today, camera manufacturers have the ability to create a bridge camera that does it all. The RX 10 M4 came perilously close and was so successful because of it. Sony, and other manufacturers, cannot risk cannibalizing their camera and lens sales so I doubt we will ever see an RX 10 M5. Imagine a sort of RX 10. P1000 sort of hybrid with a 100mp sensor, great low light performance, flawless image stabilization, focus tracking, etc. And I suspect that this sort of hybrid is already happening with the modern cameras that accompany new cell phones, so it may be a moot point anyway. I still have an RX 10 M3 that I keep around because it does so many things so well, and I use all of my cameras for professional work.
Agree, I think that the M4 turned out to be a bit too good 😂 I'm a latecomer, got my M4 one year and a half ago... and the price is still the same, lol
Solid Video with a great common sense structure. Videos like this help me to reset and remember at the end of the day not to get caught up in FOMO when it comes to gear.
Found this video as found a barely used A1 and was trying to see what i was missing...my primary are A7iv for everyday and video and A9ii for silent but fast action photos . I think it would be better for me to have a second A7iv vs an A1 for tripod video while i also do handheld. Great job on this comparison video
Thank you for the video. I own both as well right now and traded an A9II for the A7IV. For birds in flight the Alpha 1 can’t be beet where I use 20 fps and 50 Mpixels. For walking around and family shots I use the A7IV or an A7RIV I also have. I am really not a video shooter but my son prefers the A7SIII for video. Do prefer the Alpha 1 viewfinder and wish both had rear screens mor like Canon’s EOS R5.
Thank you. Switching from fuji to sony because of underwater perfomances and lenses. And i chose the a7 iv after tons of reviews and your is the one that made me chose the a7 iv over the a1 (: thank you
Wow! Was about to sell my A7RIV because of the bird AF for photos on the A1. I also have the A7IV! But now you just pointed out the A1 doesn't do bird AF on video, well, that made the difference! :) Thanks for saving me lots of $$$. Also, I don't think the A7RV will have a flip out screen.
Don't be so shure right away. Compared to you, I am disappointed with what I see from a camera 3 times more expensive. Watch here, 4:04 and 6:25, the 4k 30 and 60 is better on A7IV. The Low light performance is disappointing to on A1. Only in 8K, the A1 it's better, but no one was interested in that. I don't really know what undeniable details and quality talking about.
THE SIMPLE ANSWER: Uh, NO. The A74 IS nice, but terrible rolling shutter, not-as-good autofocus, lesser detail, no 30 FPS, no 8.6 oversampled to 8k, which most people downsample to 4K which makes it incredibly sharp, no crop in 120 60 FPS, and even more... also, you really don't ever need to use the mechanical shutter on the A1... should I also mention the higher Sync speed for flash?... Oh, and 4:2:2 has now been added to the A1 via firmware, and the Eye AF has also been tweaked. If you specialize in Sports,. Wildlife, the A1 is simply amazing... Oh-h-h and I forgot: You now have S,M & L size for RAW images in the A1... There's a good reason it costs as much as it does... What A1 owners are waiting for is the breathing compensation that the A7IV has... By the end of October (the 26th), the REAL question will be whether to purchase the A7IV versus the A7RV, which will be much closer in price but a definite step up from the A7IV
Screen, screen, screen. Whenever anyone compares the 7 IV to the a1, there is lots of talk about the screen. I don't take photos of myself. Why does no one even mention the extra dial on the a1? I tend to shoot movement and I use that dial constantly. And that built-in PZ zoom. I had an RIV and I missed so many things on it that I sold it. Ease of use and making the camera do things at lightning speed are important to me. Love my a1!!!!

Great comparison! Love my A7iv and it truly is close enough to the A1 for my use. No more A1 envy 🙂
Thank you Sir! Haha yes. Now we don’t have to drool over the A1
Production value and content is top class. Well done, deserves more views.
Thank you ! Much appreciated
This was the first video of yours I have watched. I enjoyed it, thanks!
im glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the comment!

I would agree with everything you said. I think I am keeping both too ! Thanks for your comment
@@techtoremember8096 BTW I agree with you on the satisfying click of the A7iv. I was thinking that while doing some shooting today.

Haha. No problem ! We’ll we’ll have to see about the A7RV. You might be right but the flip out screen seems to be the trend - thanks for your comment
Just subscribed! Very great video! 😊
Awesome ! Thank you !
Nice video compare, man. Which camera and settings did you use to film youself? It´s so clean and sharp 👏👏👏
Hi! Thanks for the comment. I actually shot those scenes with both cameras (a few scenes with each ) and they are virtually identical ! Thanks again

Hi. No. No grading.
9:02 haha if peak focus is distracting. All screen in blue is not disturbing? i prefer focus peaking.
Knew which one was the Alpha 1 right away. The details and quality is undeniable.

great video, very informative and concise. just need to work on your shirt selection 🙂
Haha. Thank you. ! Off to Macy’s I go
Just bought the a7IV, I didn't know how close they are!
You made a good move !
The point of 8k would be to crop into parts of a scene.

And still the 4k and the quality is better on the a7IV. I wanted to order an A1 this month..... no thanks....

I traded my A7C, A7iV, and 3 grand for my new Sony A1. No one is talking about the noise in the Sony a1.
What noise are you referring to ?
