I can relate so much. For me characters are also my favourite part about my projects!

First of all ... HOW AM I DO BEHIND IN YOUR VIDEOS... Secondly I relate to the whole trying to write to market so much... My brain never lets me just write... Without thinking if the market, even though that would be much better than not writing at all... Amazing video once again! I love that you are honest about writing not always being an easy path!

As someone who has both a Traveler and an Alphasmart Neo 2 I honestly end up using my Alphasmart waaay more, so in my opinion you really aren't missing much (thankfully I didn't have to pay full price for the Traveler because... oof). Also count me as one of the kids who used these in school growing up, although it was the older 3000 model instead of the Neo. I'm only a couple years older than you, so maybe its was down to the state/school district to decide where these things were implemented in schools. They were useful for their time, and glad they're finding new life now for writers. Hope you're enjoying your device! I'm sorry about the kitty woes, I hope she's doing ok <3

I can completely understand being self-conscious about vlogging in public. I once saw a vlogger in the wild and it did look quite cringy. On the other hand… I do enjoy the end product, specially writing vlogs, so I’m glad people do it. And don’t beat yourself up for not coming up with the story/plot idea from the start. Sometimes you need to just write on before you can figure out what works. My first drafts are so full of holes it’s not even funny. There are missing characters (even some who I know exist in the story but I don’t know how to write them in yet), missing descriptions, missing settings and so much more. There are placeholders where research needs to go, placeholders where some important information or plot point has to be and if, as you, I figure out some big story change mid writing, I continue writing as if the story change has been there from the start. A zero draft’s only job is to have the story on paper, so you have something to work with. Hope the vet visit went well, and thanks for the vlog.

I used the older version I'm school. They bought it for the special Ed class. For my friends with ADHD it worked great. For me being dyslexic it gave me so much anxiety not having spell check. Though back then or at least in my school was to force me to memories words so I could spell correctly. I think there a great idea I just don't like them. Though I love that it's working out for so much people.

Being honest takes bravery, and knowing when to shelve or pivot away from a project, generally, whatever, also takes a lot of bravery. You're doing good things, April ❤

You are so brave to be honest. You write what makes you happy friend because in the end that is all that matters 💜

You say you have a full-time job and a one-hour-long commute. During your one-hour-long commute, you can turn on your smartphone's voice-recorder app and record your voice, and speak into the device. Then, once you get home, you just play the recording and transcribe the recording into a word processor. So, say you work 8 hours a day and 2 hours of commute in the morning and night. That's 10 hours. Take away another 8 hours of sleeping. That's 18 hours away. Reserve 1 hour for breakfast prep and eating, and 1 hour of dinner prep and eating. That's 20 hours used up already, leaving you with only 4 hours of "free time". 2 hours out of the 4 hours can be reserved for Writing Time. You can also just work until you retire, then write in your retirement years. Nowadays, people always emphasize on the written words, the printed words in a book, instead of the spoken words. You can also do everything the old old old fashioned way and tell stories orally. That is more of a performance art, though, and it can be more of a social interaction, while writing stories is notoriously a solo activity.

You know, finishing stories and getting them published doesn't sound like a failure. Just with this you are more successful than many other writers. And don't beat yourself up with figuring out YA writing is not your thing even if you like reading it. It was something you needed to learn and now you know it. I do understand it can feel embarrassing when you are in the middle of it, but looking at it from the outside as somebody who follows you on CZcams it doesn't seem embarrassing at all from this perspective. It's just something you figured out and learned about your writing.

Yes so excited to see your stuff. Also for as much a people poo poo about romance and erotic for a lot of the world smexy and love is everyones guilty pleasure. We are just more open while everyone else is embarrassed to admit they want and like it too. I'm here for you lets bring smut to authortube. 😆
