Lawn is 6 weeks old in this video. Regular cutting at this low height has helped it to thicken up to the point where it is now

Enjoying the sun and the 40°C temps. Skin is not. Tried to mitigate the lawn getting out of control before leaving. Let's see how we get on !

@@TheReelMowingMowingClub jeez I would die in 40°c🥴find it hard enough when we get our mini heatwaves here🤣🤣🤣your lawns will be fine while you are away, and if you come back finding they are pretty long, just mow at like 25mm first, then gradually get it back down to your 15mm🥳🥳🥳🥳get the high factor cream on, your skin will thank you for it😉

Yes it would, but a turf cutter would have only removed the turf. I removed an extra 6 - 10 inches of clay soil

@@TheReelMowingMowingClub sorry, in the video it looked like you removed the turf first and then tackled the substrate, either way way it would have saved some of the back breaking work. That said, all credit to your efforts and determination to pursue a showcase lawn, hopefully your neighbours are not the sort of people who, when walking their dogs, allow them to pee and poop on lawns while they remain glued to their phones. I spend as much time repairing this sort of damage as I do on general maintenance. Once again, a great example for we lawn “nerds”.

Thanks John With it being only 40m² I thought to save the money in hiring and do it manually. Didn't think it would take 2 days! 🤣🤣🤣 but effort was worth it I think. Neighbours are all good to be fair to them. Some think it's artificial and need to touch it to check!.

Rootzone from @easylawn.turf. Rootzone is a mix of course grit, sand and a small of amount of soil specifically blended to use directly underneath turf.

@@TheReelMowingMowingClub Good idea the top top machines have a rake behind the roller to lift the grass before cutting.

The risk with Jacks it seems. I have used weedol and rate it but I have suggested Greenforce to people as an alternative and wanted to try it myself. I think it will be more beneficial against the more stubborn weeds that weedol struggles against

Greenforce Weedkiller? I assume the warning is to cover them. Lots of warnings are belt and braces. I reckon I could get away with it on my lawn. Unfortunately nothing will fight off poa that an amateur can applybin the UK, other than a fork and diligence

I thought I'd give it a sharpen and well worth it! I saw a video by jacobsen (I think) that was about number or blades and the cut but it makes sense what you say about a loose reel. The reel to bedknife seems to be set pure now, so hopefully this ribbing will be eliminated in the next few cuts!!! If not, another excuse to get a new mower!!!!

@@TheReelMowingMowingClub deffo mate, I have found it myself, never got ribbing with my Weh12r, but after a few months noticed it started to rib, because after a while due to wear the clearance increases between bedknife and cylinder, one clockwise click then on the adjusting knobs each side so the cylinder has slight contact with the bedknife, but can still rotate fine (so you get a slight wisp sound), and no more washboard ribbing look👍 When I backlap my Weh12r also, to save time and effort, I just turn the mower upside down, coat the blades with my chemico water based lapping paste, and kick the rear roller backwards with my foot, wash it off with water afterwards and job done. All my vintage ones though I do use a drill and socket on the cylinder sprocket nut in reverse.

@markslade9722 I've done the kicking method before 🤣 not a fan. Backlapped with the chain on last time and it messed up the chain!! So removal of the chain I'm happy with. Also I get to play engineer!

Hi Shaun. Great tip. Had a look at this stuff and it seems to be a pro only herbicide unless you can advise otherwise. If so I'll look to get some to test and see how it performs. Pitchcare have a great write up on it's effectiveness

Here in NZ the latest label use is as I mentioned above, which maybe considered 'off label' use in other countries, not sure, but I soil drench once early-mid spring watered in as a pre-emergant and when the odd poa shows up early-mid summer I use the water in then 14 days later spray leaf method. Plant turns brown, dies, then pull it out. I think usage has changed since pitchcare articles.

Hoping for missed fert but it's holding on now. Small lawn is Barenbrug extreme, side lawn is Johnsons Premier Pitch, both perrinal rye

Crazy! I'm not on that group. Left as my posts went onto admin approval, and now glad I'm not in it. And I post in several groups as, even though there is a small cross over of members, I'm proud of my lawn. Anyway! Enough of that. Haters gonna hate! When I used the Ferrogranual I would always looked to limit how much goes on the flags. But the stuff I'm using now is chelated so no staining apparently and seems to be true. I won't spray a load on to test this but a little won't do much damage

Hi rick. I am looking at getting one. Having deep thoughts about what to get to help the lawn, the channel and most importantly my bank manager! Verticutters are great for thinning the lawn, helping to reduce weed grasses and such but they have been expensive until recently. I'll be posting soon about the direction I'm going in....

Could be this, hope not, but the grass is looking a bit better now and the grass isn't dying off. Will see how it is in the next few weeks. I'll be washing the spreader out before the next application.

@@TheReelMowingMowingClub Fingers crossed the grass is just stressed from the overdose. I had a similar experience in the past: I thought the grass would die as it turned brown, and I feared that was it... However, after a good rain and 2-3 weeks, the overdosed spots returned in full glory. 🤞

good eggs at Greencare aren't they! The molturf is some proper good stuff! Will try this masking process with the liquids first and see how it goes over the next two weeks. If its still problematic, then I'll be looking to reapply with a clean spreader!!
