  • Before we get to renovation season, I am applying Weedol to the lawn to eliminate the small amount of weeds that are appearing, after we give it a cut to reveal the eye popping stripe action!
    We also apply some iron to the small lawn to show how quickly this starts to work!!
    Big thanks to @user-oc3ct9um3p for the little trick mid vid!

      Yeah. I cannot wait to put a some more seed down in April to thicken up the sparse parts.
      Yours will be banging too. The amount of prep your doing will lead into an awesome lawn!

      @davidl667 no issues at all. Its a brilliant little mower. I got mine second hand for 45quid and its missing a couple of nobs so adjusting is a little fidgety.
      It's about 10kgs so not too heavy and cuts and striped really well

    Filled out nice now at the front near the pavement, compared to a few months ago. Stripes look fab. Do you set your webb to cut at it highest h.o.c with is about 24mm, or do you mow shorter? Think it goes down to about 13mm on its lowest h.o.c setting. I always set mine to cut at its heighest h.o.c.

    • @TheReelMowingMowingClub
      @TheReelMowingMowingClub  Před 5 měsíci +1

      It's set at about 25mm ish using that little bar I made a few weeks back.
      Afters yesterday's downpour I didn't think I would be able to get the weedol on! Mad thr weather at the minute.

    • @markslade9722
      @markslade9722 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@TheReelMowingMowingClub yeah I thought it looked like you mow it pretty high, think about 25mm is the highest setting, the manual actually says it is about 23.5mm max height.
      Yeah we have had a dry weekend here, but given rain all next week.
      But the grass certainly is sprouting up quick now with it milder, the sun, rain etc. Defo at a point now where at least one mow a week is required.
      Think I will just use a hand spray bottle of resolva ready mixed weed killer for lawns, and just spraying the small areas I have a bit of clover coming through, rather than doing the whole lawn like you have with the weedol for lawns.
      I expect you will be looking at overseeding those bare muddy areas soon up near your fence and by the trees, certainly think it is safe to do so now, dont seem to be anymore cold frosty spells forecast from now onwards.
      Be glad when we get less rain, only probs then we will have to shift over to manually watering the lawns once it gets really dry, but I have two large water butts that I will connect up again soon.I disconnected and emptied them over Winter, so they didnt freeze and split.

    • @TheReelMowingMowingClub
      @TheReelMowingMowingClub  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yeah I need to look at getting a big 1000ltr water butt in my garden and hook my pump up to it.
      I think the highest setting on mine is 30mm as its not at the max, but yeah, I cut Friday afternoon then again today and took a few mm off so it is growing steadily now.
      Another week of rain. Needs to stop! 😂

    • @markslade9722
      @markslade9722 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@TheReelMowingMowingClub nice mate, yeah you would need a pump off a water butt to use with a hose pipe or sprinkler etc. My lawns are quite small so have a bigger butt about 200litres, and a slimline one next to it about 110litres, and have them connected together with the one connected into my rain gutter downpipe, so I dont have a pump or use a hosepipe with the butts, either just fill a watering can, or fill my 9 litre pressure sprayer to water the lawns when needed.
      But will be a while yet before we need to do that with all the rain we are getting. But yeah you would need at least one thousand litre butt with your sized gardens, surprising how quick they fill up when plumbed into the roof guttering down pipe.
      I am an end terrace of four houses and luckily my house is the only one with the downpipe, so I get gree rain water off the other three houses running along the gutters and down into my butts🤣🤣🤣🥳🥳🥳🥳

      @@TheReelMowingMowingCluba quick tip - for the last 4 years, i've been digging up rocks, stones, bricks bottles (you name it, i have seen it) close to the concrete edge. very common for new builds. the soil is too shallow along the edges so moss will continue to grow as grass dies during winter with shallow roots and moss takes over...after years of clearing, i barely have moss on the edges except for those areas which dont get any sun during winter

    • @TheReelMowingMowingClub
      @TheReelMowingMowingClub  Před 5 měsíci

      Yeah. The small lawn I killed off last April and just scarified it to death before topdressing with a horticultural sand before seeding. That's why the side lawn looks good as that went through the full rennovation and is looking much better after winter.

      @@TheReelMowingMowingClub All of DHLE's products are repackaged from other companies, he doesn't even ask them permission to rebadge, but charges 2-5x the original cost. Galactic Green is very similar ;) to Consolidate Turf's liquids, he was using their products and showed them in early videos but those videos were deleted. ICL, Consolidate Turf and J Premier Pitch were his go to products, probably still are but with his own branding. ICL's liquids were his other go to must haves.
