Hi Saabsters, my car is a 2004 Saab 9-5 Arc Wagon but this will work for all 1999-2005 9-5 model Saabs. Pardon the video angling. You are a real pip!!!! I enjoyed your video!!! If I may, though, the " o ring " is called the drain plug gasket. Please, Please, be sure your drain plug is in place before you pour in the new oil!! I would also have the filter in place, too. I have never filled a car without a filter, so I do not know if it would leak. If you think the FDR is bad, try the surface roads of Staten Island!!! Please drop off some bialies and everything bagels the next time you go. I am right of Rt 83 in Harrisburg, PA. Thanks!

    • @queensmalls4347
      @queensmalls4347 Před 4 lety

      Christopher E , glad to help. The leak in the trans cooler lines are common. Are you sure the oil leak is coming from the pan and not some place higher up? Could just be the crankshaft seal and gasket or the valve cover gasket

    • @ashtonharvey5723
      @ashtonharvey5723 Před 2 lety

      Most of the time if the lines arent rusted you can just tighten them back down. There is a lower banjo fitting going to the back side of your radaitor and a upper line going to it as well that’s a banjo style fitting. Also two likes on your trans. Give them a snug tighten. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. If they’re rusted out and that’s why they’re leaking, you can go to a hydraulic shop that specializes in making hydraulic type lines and have them make you up a pair of lines. I got all the info you need if interested message me on Facebook, just search my name and look for this car in my profile pic. Also your oil leak is likely from the timing chain tensioner. That can leak from higher up on the passenger side of your engine and leak oil down making it look worse then it is. Just make sure to keep oil in it. Check it regularly and have it fixed if you can. I fixed mine when it was leaking oil and it was just the timing chain tensioner. Gotta remove engine mount which ISNT Nowhere near as hard as it sounds. If your concerned that is what it is search on CZcams. How to check timing chain tensioner on Saab 9-5/9-3 or whatever model/yr your vehicle is. CZcams can help you greatly. If I was able to do it for ya I’d show you how it is done. I love teaching people stuff and showing them how things are fixed. Also your transmission cooling lines are easier to replace then you might think from first glance. Once you get a shop to make you up some with the exact specs I got or someone in a Saab group on Facebook can be extremely helpful. Them transmission lines run behind your radiator. It isn’t hard at all to change. Just take a lil time. Nothing serious. Can’t stress enough to make sure fluids stay at level and to check Them regularly depending on how big of a leak it is. Leaks get worse overtime so it’s best to get it fixed. But as long as you keep fluid in it at the correct level then it’ll be ok. Also your engine oil leaks if not from a timing chain tensioner (not a big deal) should be fixed if possible, if not that it could even be your oil pressure switch witch depending on your model of car is located up behind the starter and you won’t be able to remove it unless you remove your starter. Oil pressure switch is easy to change. Just takes a lil time with feeling around for the correct bolts. Mine even leaked a lot of oil out of the oil pressure switch right down onto my muffler is how I found that leak lol.
