Ahh yes the pit serial. The one where the Doctor does everything he can to not spoil the big secret that Romana is his sister. Sorry I meant the serial with the green big D. No seriously Romana is our Doctor's sister...since the actual "Doomsday" of the classic Whoniverse. When our Doctor was born inside the "Lost"/previous Whoniverse alongside the mankind that would "survive"the end of the "lost"/previous Whoniverse and become the Timelords inside the classic Whoniverse after both dying and loosing thier Earth to the Cybermen. And yes Romana have a few more "secrets" she forgot as she died when the Cybermen took over thier Earth. Shes the mother to the Master.... What? You missed it? Well 99.99999%+ of viewers missed it as RTD hid it so cleverly. The multiversal hybrid child that was "Romanas" brother had a mother from our Earth. And the multiversal hybridchild that you know as the Master was the child of.... scroll down for thw massive spoiler. The man born out of war and chaos + the Bad wolf girl.

There’s so many things to hate about this story, I say it is the second worst Tom Baker story behind Underworld

I really didn't like this one. I didn't hate it, but I thought it was really bad. Watching this after City of Death was like getting whiplash. I hate k9's new voice, and you can tell that this was the first one they filmed with Lalla Ward as Romana as she hasn't really slipped into the role yet. The design team definitely knew what they were doing with that creature, no behind the scenes special feature can convince me otherwise, Hopefully the next story will be better. I've heard a few say its a guilty pleasure so I'm staying optimistic while not expecting too much.

Just to confirm: that was indeed the moment I was talking about. Even now, it's hard to fathom the thought process behind it. I mean, it must have been deliberate, surely.

Hi, it's me. I'm the one who said they hated it with a burning passion. I do. They skrew around in paris doing absolutely nothing interesting for way too long. It's like I'm watching an 80s ad trying to attract tourists. I get it. City of love. Restaurants, architecture, the louvre. Sooo interesting. I get that it was a big deal at the time that they could film in Paris, but the writers are just way too smug about it. Then the plot kicks in and the writers think themselves so soo cleaver. This man is doing experiments with time travel so he steals the Mona Lisa to fund it but he has a bunch of copies he made DaVinci paint but he can't time travel yet but that's fine because he's spread across time so he can do that. Oh and of course he's trying to travel back in time to stop himself from blowing up his ship at the beginning of life on earth and he guides the entirety of human history so it's advantageous to him. SO WHY DIDN'T HE LITERALLY JUST GIVE HIMSELF ALL THE MONEY HE NEEDED TO BUILD THE TIME MACHINE IN THE FIRST PLACE???????? Also, we're going to casually remove agency from the people who made every single important choice throughout history and maybe turn all life on earth into his (admittedly largely unwitting) creation. What the actual F@**#@/k!

Fun fact for Scaroth, he is played by Julian Glover who was in Doctor Who before as King Richard the Lionheart in The Crusade, he was also Donovan in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and, for me more noticeably, General Veers, the AT-AT Commander in The Empire Strikes Back.

this has similar status to Blink, and tbh both are overrated.... i think it's popular coz it's the season where douglas adams is showrunner, and everyone is foolishly super hyped about that and this seems to be the only story that has humour approximating what one might expect from douglas adams.

I absolutely LOVED this one. I thought the pacing was great, each episode flows really well, the story just flies by. Romana had a lot more to do in this one, much more than Mary Tamm got to do in a whole season. Lalla Ward's chemistry which Tom Baker is great, although I've heard it completely falls apart next season when their marriage broke up. I loved the soundtrack, the best since Tomb of the Cybermen. There was a great balance between comedy and drama, Tom Baker was on top form showing the Doctor change between having fun and being in control of the situation. The directing really took me by surprise, great use of location and beautiful, unique shots that really add a lot to the atmosphere of this story, stuff I really didn't expect from classic who. I'm honestly really surprised theres no omnibus edition of this one as it felt like it really could be a movie. I probably wouldn't say its in my top 3 of all time, but definitely my top 3 4th doctor stories. Easily my favourite from the Graham Williams era so far.

Surprised you didn't mention Julian Glover of Indiana Jones renown as Count Scarlioni. Maybe you haven't seen it. Also, the writer for this, David Agnew, doesn't actually exist, being a nom de plume of Graham Williams, Douglas Adams and David Fisher; producer, script-editor and writer of the script this was based on respectively. I don't know if you remember, but I mentioned in a previous comment - probably Image of the Fendahl - about an outrageous moment in an upcoming story. The Creature from the Pit is that story and I look forward to your thoughts on the moment in question.

2023, i took a flight from Malaysia to see FATM in NZ. I was at the lowest point of my life. All i knew was i needed to do something to make myself feel alive again, so i flew to NZ alone to see my favourite band. I almost teared up when she sang this because i did not expect this song at all. It almost felt like she did this for me. =)

They patched it and now it runs very good

Destiny of the daleks is messy

The Daleks are never scarier than here. And the Time War rly enriches Romana's reaction to the Daleks. This season is the low point for Tom Baker. It's when you realise he has stayed on too long. The season after isn't much better either. At least this season has higher highs. City of Death is the Blink of the classics - good but very overrated.

Year later such a good night lol reminiscing of this night for sure!!! Awesome video brother!!

I like Destiny of the Daleks

I really enjoyed this one, which is surprising because I've not really enjoyed a story this much since Horror of Fang Rock, and I've heard nothing but bad things for this one. Its not perfect, but its just fun. I was really excited for next week's story but your last comment has really confused me.

Ya know, i like this one. Deus Ex Machina ending aside, the Marshall was an effective villain and the side characters were fun and goofy.

When did Sutekh get identified as The One Who Waits? I missed that. Pretty sure it isn't him.

I've heard that Armageddon Factor is really not popular among fans. I thought it was pretty good! Key to Time was one of my first regular viewings of Tom Baker's Doctor. It meanders a bit but I don't mind; it gives Tom more time to be funny. The ending is a little anticlimactic and not the story decision I would've written, but it still made sense and I still enjoyed it.

Overall, this season has been really average for me, and this one was probably my least favourite. Didn't hate it, but it was somewhere in-between boring and silly. This is probably my least favourite season so far. I can't see myself revisiting it, but if I do, hopefully I'll appreciate it more. Absolutely agree with what you said about Romana. I just didn't feel like I knew her, there was very little to her character. But anyway, heres to next week when we begin season 17.

Another one where you've gone against fan consensus. Personally, I enjoy The Power of Kroll, but it's not one of the strongest stories of this season for me. Ironically, I much prefer The Stones of Blood. On that note, I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions on the 5th, 6th & 7th Doctors' stories, as that 80s era isn't widely considered a golden age overall. I wonder how many apple carts will be strewn in your wake in the future.

omg i love how Doccy Who rarely has universally loved stories... part of its magic is how differently each story hits me every time I watch it. NO ONE likes The Power of Kroll... but I'm psyched that you love it. Makes me wanna rewatch it. I remember on my last watch I was surprised at how great the developments with the humans in the station were.

A primitive tribe of Old Greg's is terrifying tho 😂 I genuinely love this one. I don't understand the hate. It might even be my favourite from this season (Im sorry). My favourite moment was when the doctor let out a high pitch squeak to shatter glass. It caught me completely off guard, I couldn't help but laugh out loud. I found your channel when you started Season 12 and I began watching along side, wanting to get into classic who after being a new who fan for so long. I then went back to catch up with what I missed. At the time of watching this one I was also watching Season 9 with the mutants. This one was by far the better story.
