This video is an exercise in total One Pocket offense. The idea is to develop your skills at running numerous balls into a single predetermined pocket. The skills include all aspects of pocketing skills, cue ball control, pattern play, concentration, and imagination. Give it a try. I think you will find it educational, interesting, rewarding, and at times most definitely frustration as hell. Ch...

With a free break and ball in hand to begin the run I had chosen the pocket to your lower left to run as many balls as possible. Any ball falling into any of the other five pockets gets respotted at the end of the run should I run all the balls off the table. Enjoy, I certainly did. Came to ask what size pockets your table has, but I saw another comment with the answer. What size pockets do you think are best for one pocket? And do you think there should be any difference between money games versus tournament play tables? How about any thoughts on diamond versus Brunswick? Thanks so much for all of the content! Your page is a treasure trove for anyone really trying to learn the game 🙏🏽💚✌🏽

    I learned this from John Brumback's video but he hits it with a slightly elevated cue and hits the cue ball higher almost like a masse shot. The cue ball doesn't draw but kind of crawls sideways. Maybe that's better for bank pool and your way may allow you to hit the shot softer.

      Chris, that's not likely to happen these days. I'm 70 years old now and well past my high level playing days. I teach almost exclusively and love it. That said. If you had been around the US Open 1 Pocket Championships in Kalamazoo around the late 80s you could have seen me beat Scott. And if you had happened to be at the DCC in the mid 2Ks you could have watched me beat Tony in one of the later rounds. I got 7th losing to Jose Parica afterwards. I should have won that match but ran out of gas towards the end. Let the new guard take over the reins. I"ll help them do it if they come looking for my help. You too. Chris, I have been using the same cue for 24 years. It is a Plain Jane Tad. The shafts have narrowed down from 12.7mm to now about 11.7mm. I just had a new shaft made with a graduated beginning at 12.4 at the edge of the ferrule. The tip is a medium soft kamui. I can't use low deflection shafts. I'm too old school and can't learn that new trick. LOL

  • @jacobjones5269
    @jacobjones5269 Před 3 lety

    Not sure of the angle, but I like choice 2, but I’m trusting the 2nd ball will be pretty close to my hole if I make one, and I’ll get a shot on it… And I’m playing my cue ball to the back rail.. I’ll cut at the spot ball from there, worst case, and have a great shot at getting them all.. Pro chooses 2 as well, and finds the side rail, as you tried to do..

    • @jacobjones5269
      @jacobjones5269 Před 3 lety

      Also, the way you shot it makes me believe it’s possible to get real aggressive here, shoot the 2nd shot with speed and go 3 rails with the cue ball… Probably low on the foot rail ball.. You may sell out a bank or you may get a sweet double kiss if one of the balls doesn’t go in clean.. There are pros who would shoot that needing them all.. I might shoot it if it laid real nice..

    So, I’m side betting on a match between JJ and Cliff, back in the day.. And I’m betting with the biggest sucker in the pool hall, always has dough, and I didn’t post.. I just wanted to break the seal and gamble with the guy.. Well, he gets 15-2 from Al Mason and goes broke while JJ and Cliff are playing, and Al went 15 and out the final game.. It was so damn impressive, I didn’t even care when I got stiffed when JJ beat Cliff… Again!.. lol..

Does your book delve into that area?..

    • @onepocketagameofcontrolled3646
      @onepocketagameofcontrolled3646 Před 3 lety

      Absolutely Jacob.! My book is all about the theory behind risk vs reward.. In addition, the book takes into consideration each reader's level of play, how to address those situations where that players level verses their opponents level may vary from weaker to stronger then themselves. The book also helps players identify just where they need the greatest work to improve their games. I know you will not be disappointed.

  • @loganharrington8271
    @loganharrington8271 Před 3 lety

    @ 6:43, I saw another shot. While not a high % to make, it does more to the right pocket players advantage. Banking the 14 ball towards the right pocket, the que ball will carom off, hitting both the 5 and the 15. The result will be the 10, 8 & 14 or 12 in better position

    • @onepocketagameofcontrolled3646
      @onepocketagameofcontrolled3646 Před 3 lety

      Thank you Logan for offering your alternative shot. Though it is true that several balls will be sent in the direction of the shooter's pocket, controlling the cue ball is very suspect. Your shot has considerable risk of scratching off the 5 and 15. When weighing whether to choose aggressive shots which carry even a moderate risk of surrendering open shots to your opponent it is best to know to a high degree what outcome to expect. Though the shot shown send fewer balls towards the shooter's pocket the shot is far easier to execute and accomplishes all that is necessary. Remember, it only take eight balls to win the game!
