Ordered on tagged on Aug 9th in Whittier California and still tagged as awaiting processing in Whittier California on Aug 20th! I recall the same thing happened when I ordered Black Sabbath direct from Rhino, that Whittier California held it for 2 weeks and then it had to cross North America to get to me. This is THE LAST time I deal with Rhino/Warner and the DHL service from Whittier California. "DHL Express"....what a joke and a huge disappointment. #neveragain

So much fun this show listening to these heart warming stories by Graham ! London club scene has changed so much, but not in the good way😢.

I am a HUGE Linkin Park fan, and I own all 3, and I’m sad I don’t even have a turntable yet. I’m just collecting vinyl records for now. I can’t wait to get myself a decent set up to finally listen and compare the difference between the first pressings I own of all 3 albums, and the One Step Editions.

Original records make better time machines. You're holding & interacting with card & vinyl that was New in the 1950s or '60s or '70s & this keeps past culture alive & brings you closer, physically, to that time & place. An *audiophile* would say, Yes, but a clearer-sounding reissue transports you back to the recording studio more vividly. And that distinguishes audiophiles from the rest of vinyl people: The audiophile wants a time machine that will land smackdab in the studio. Everyone else wants a time machine to land in London 1966 or Memphis 1956 or San Francisco 1967 or Berlin 1977...they can walk to the studio from there.

Numbering is a little vague - I doubt the jacket number actually corresponds to the pressing number, all we can be sure of is that it's one of 2000 / 3000 etc.

Michael, like your SP10 MK2... I also have a SP10 MK2, but in the factory plinth (SL1000 MK2) and my main table is a SP10 MK3, but in factory plinth (SL1000 MK3) working on a custom 3 arm plinth for the MK3. I use a FR64S tonearm (custom re-wire/rebuild by Richard Mak of AnalogMagic) and a Moerch DP-8 12" tonearm.

Hey Steve, does your Yes & ZZ Top lps have RL both sides? Btw all that Van Morrison lps US pressing that was shown should have RL etched in them….😅

The original mtv unplugged is much better than the mov. The mov sounds really good but the og sounds like youre there. I paid $100 for the mov and $500 for the og. The extra $400 was definitely worth it for the sound of the og

The smiths & oasis may benefit from remastering by rhino or because sound matters as the OGs suffer from lots of sibilance!

All 3 albums ordered and I will be looking forward to the delivery to Europe. I hope to eventually add the remaining Linkin Park albums to this edition.

My copy of Hybrid Theory just showed up yesterday but unfortunately it's not off to a good start. The mailer used is disappointing, same as $40 Rhino High Fidelity records are using. The inner spine of the gatefold has a couple inch rip in it where the record broke through. The record itself is pretty dirty and has marks and scratches on it. Certainly not the experience I was expecting for a $100 record, they need to get it right at that number, no excuses. Haven't cleaned, played, or done anything with it yet. Time to find out how their customer service is now, emailed them with pics of what I received. Was able to reply directly to the confirmation email they sent and received an email right away showing a service ticket has been opened so that's off to a better start at least, we'll see how it goes from here.

I ordered all three and waiting for them, but I really would have liked them cut from tape. I don’t care they are digital recordings, they haven’t been done from tape before. My curiosity is that perhaps like a digital instrument can be mixed analog, if you mixed a digital recording through an analog console, then it wouldn’t sound the same. There must be a reason they mixed to tape, but we keep hearing it was recorded digital so it can’t be AAA. Well who cares if it’s ALL analog in this case, if half analog is the best case (DAA?) then I’d like to own that. This Linkin Park/Green Day fan is also an audiophile, and for this price point I think you should pull out all the stops. I’m deciding between these one steps, and the Atlantic 75, UHQRs, Rhino Hi-Fi titles and such. I’m a massive Linkin Park/Green Day fan, that was my youth man! but I’m also a big fan of all kinds of other music now and when I’m buying vinyl, it’s a budget decision about what I can’t get on any other format, which is primarily anything cut from tape. Leave it to us to decide if it sounds better than cutting from digital, rather than telling us it’s a digital recording, and tape from the era isn’t great etc it would have been an interesting listen

Thank you so much, gentlemen, for featuring this and for doing me a wonderful favor. Why? When ZZ announced their first concert in Europe in 1980 I blindly bought for curiosity their Best Of album which cover art let me believe it’s a kind of country campfire type music. Boy, was I thrilled. I have waited until after midnight when they finally entered the stage (without bringing the longhorn, rattlesnake, … though :-), and I hardly saw so many jaws dropped in my life again. That Best Of album cover is hanging framed in my music room, and luckily that concert has been filmed and released on DVD in later years. Interestingly, I never bought all those early individual albums, I guess for budget reasons and for the following synthie/MTV infused albums quickly gained my focus and spend for all later albums ever since until and including RAW. Thank you so much, RHF, for filling those early years‘ holes in my collection with this boxset which I am eagerly awaiting for customs to let it go into my hands. My first RHF! I hope it will arrive undamaged and well manufactured, and become what I would call my perfect birthday self-present.

Can’t wait for my UHQR LA Woman. I find the bit of backlash kind of funny when ppl have been asking for these great classic albums on 33. I will say this, I’m willing to wager most ppl aren’t pulling the 45 LA Woman off the shelf on a consistent basis. In fact, I’d be shocked if most who own it have played it more than 3-4 times. Something to be said for having some friends over and someone asking “can we listen to LA Woman?” and being able to just grab a 33 and playing it as the music was intended and with just one flip. Just my 3 cents.

I got my box. They failed to use enough tape on the bottom of the box, the shipping box has a crushed corner and internal packing wasn't very good. Because of this, my ZZ Top box has a large dent in it. I email Rhino support and haven't heard anything for 3+ days now. Pretty disappointing. I also bought the first Cars Rhino High Fidelity and it arrived damaged too. They never responded to me in that case either.

Mazzy: Topic Records existed a a label earlier than with Joe Boyd's input, and they put out a lot of folk and blues in the 1950s.

I bought the LA Woman UHQR even though I have the 45...the 45 sounds great but annoying having to flip every 3 songs

This was great seeing Graham Wood talk about what he saw personally with first hand knowledge of how the music all came together. Great interview and stories Steve. Mazzy, wasn't that Vick Flick on Goldfinger rather than Jimmy Page? When I see someone like Graham talk about music, it makes me glad I grew up in the 1960's- born in 1962. I started buying vinyl when I was 10 or 11 so most of the great albums I still enjoy, I bought when they were released.

The first pressings of ( The Songbook ) lp have Paul on the lefthand side, it took me a long time to find one in the wild, decades in fact 😁 it also had a very different text, style, font and placement.

32:00 "They came to London & all of a sudden, they've got all these originals they're doing." Not quite. Not all of a sudden - - not if you know anything about The Beatles in the North. They wrote several originals in Forthlin Rd & Menlove Ave. & several more on the tour bus & in hotels touring the North right through to end of 1963 - - & even Lennon-McCartney's songwriting deal was signed in Liverpool. Moving to London didn't trigger sudden songwriting, though EMI's record contract hastened it to fill the tracks. Their gradual maturity made their songwriting prolific and then sophisticated. Chronology more than place: how we grow up. They went where the money was, as did many artists from the provinces, but the provinces nurtured what the capital took credit for before the capital could even understand their accents. Some Beatle interviews remember how they were treated by Londoners before they were known millionaires. Let's not give London too much credit by downplaying Liverpool, eh? London, & Fleet Street, was very slow to recognise what Liverpool knew for 3 years ahead of the capital, & 4 years ahead of USA.
