Wild Alaska! Denali, Mt. Healy, Savage, Chena Hot Springs, Kenai Fjords and the Mayors Marathon
ALASKA. WAS. AMAZING.
My group flew into Anchorage before heading up to Denali National Park. There we hiked the Savage Alpine & River Trails, and on day 2 I climbed to the peak of Healy mountain.
We headed farther north to Chena. I hiked Angel Rocks peak and a nice valley gorge trail that followed a stream before joining the gang for a tour of the Aurora Ice House, where we drank martinis from an ice glass. We then headed to the Trails End bar for libations before relaxing in the hot springs.
The next day was a 15 hour drive down to Kenai Fjords National Park, but every minute of the drive was beautiful. Once we settled into our place in Seward, we hiked the Exit Glacier trail in KFNP and I climbed to the end of the Harding Ice Field trail.. this was one of the most spectacular hikes I’ve ever been on. The next day we rested our legs on a boat tour of the peninsula. We got to see orcas, humpback whales, seals, sea lions, puffins, birds I've never heard of and more glaciers.
Next up was a trip back to Anchorage for the 50th annual Mayors Marathon. The week of climbing caught up to me around mile 18 of the race, but I still managed a strong finish. This was my 26th marathon, but my first destination race!

      @@jeremysart Trail run sounds fun! We ran the whole thing about a year and a half ago and had a great day doing it. The overnight is a cool idea. I hope you heal up quickly, and conquer that hundred miler! 💪

    I agree on your idea of camping to, and I need to get out there and find some morels, that's a good area to look. Take care.

      I've seen some morels out on the trail! That time of year is coming up too 😀 I'm thinking of doing another 3 night/ 36 mile trip from Waterloo to Silver Lake again soon since last time I did the trip it was in the high 90's and the mosquitos were terrible haha, so I'm ready for a re-do.

  • @AChildofLightHEATHER

    I have hiked by that dozens of times! Have you camped there since making this video?

    • @jeremysart
      @jeremysart Před rokem

      Yes! In fact I was just there about 3 weeks ago when we had our last big snow. I camped out in my tent one night at Blind Lake during the snowstorm and then spent an nice cozy warm night in the yurt!

    Bro do you think there's any way to get the data patch on a WII U now that is closed? Hacked version of something? I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles but now that I'm about to finish it im sad seeing this thing, I don't want to play it without the data patch From a pc to the Wii U do you think it's possible to port the patch?

    • @jeremysart
      @jeremysart Před rokem

      Yes!! If you softmod your Wii U and then download and install NUSspli, you can download the Xenoblade Chronicles X data packs directly from the Nintendo Update Servers. My word of advice is to do this soon though, it honestly blows my mind Nintendo hasn't shut this down yet. As far as soft modding goes, if you could figure out the battle mechanics in XBCX, then modding your Wii U will be a cake walk haha. Just set aside an hour on a weekend and follow the wiiu . hacks . guide step by step. Make sure to have a 32gb SD card formatted to fat32 ready and an external HDD with a Y cable. My HDD is only 500GB and it's MORE than enough for every Wii U heavy hitter plus a ton of Wii, GCN, DS, GBA, SNES etc, I'm about to add Playstation too. I imagine a 1-2TB would hold just about the entire Wii/Wii U library.

    Is there a lot of easy fishing access along the trail?

    • @jeremysart
      @jeremysart Před rokem

      If starting near Pigeon Bridge CG and hiking Clockwise, it seems there would be plenty of opportunities on the first day to fish in the Pigeon River. Pine Grove CG is also situated very close to the river. Likewise, Canada Creek Shelter is also located by a fishing worthy stream. Along the path there are several back country camp worthy lakes that I imagine would be fishable as well.

    I hiked this trail over 6 days in spring of 2018. I was not a fan honestly. There's much better hiking in Michigan to be had.

    • @jeremysart
      @jeremysart Před rokem

      I can understand why anyone wouldn’t like this trail, though unfortunately the much better hiking is also a much further drive - places like Pictures Rocks, Isle Royale or the Porkies.. any thing else here in the lower peninsula is either a 2-3 day trip max and/or overcrowded unless you do a winter trip. High Country is un-maintained and rough, but I thought it was beautiful and enjoyed the solitude.

    The Game Gear was outsold 6 to 1 by the Game Boy before Pokémon even came out. Yes, it was a failure.

    • @jeremysart
      @jeremysart Před 4 měsíci

      That depends on your definition of success. Did and do people love and enjoy the Gamegear? ✅ is there nostalgia for it? ✅ Is there and insane modding community doing everything they can to keep things kicking? ✅ Believe me, I’m more than aware it didn’t touch the Gameboy in level of sales, but it also wasn’t a Tiger R-Zone/ Game.com, and even those have their fans.

    • @Maulbert
      @Maulbert Před 4 měsíci

      @jeremysart People love and are nostalgic for the Dreamcast. Doesn't mean it wasn't a failure. Sega discontinued the Game Gear because it wasn't competitive. By definition, that is a failure. Doesn't matter if it still has a few dozen fans.
