In this video, I spend a weekend at the Glenbrook Yurt in Pinckney Recreational Area. Day one I did 9 miles of solo hiking, day 2 I did a 13.1 mile trail run and then had a roaring fire with my wife and her friend, and day 3 I went out for one last 6.5 mile hike.
This is a wonderful park in South East Michigan that offers great hiking and backpacking for a local getaway. There is the 17.5 mile Potawatomi trail which has several shortcuts and other trails interwoven, and is linked directly to the hiking only Waterloo trail which offers several camping options and over 34 miles of backpacking in one direction!
Note, it is highly advised to hike counter clockwise along the Potawatomi, as mountain bikes ride clockwise along the trail. This best insures better safety and visibility to both you and other trail users.

I agree on your idea of camping to, and I need to get out there and find some morels, that's a good area to look. Take care.

I've seen some morels out on the trail! That time of year is coming up too 😀 I'm thinking of doing another 3 night/ 36 mile trip from Waterloo to Silver Lake again soon since last time I did the trip it was in the high 90's and the mosquitos were terrible haha, so I'm ready for a re-do.

I have hiked by that dozens of times! Have you camped there since making this video?

Yes! In fact I was just there about 3 weeks ago when we had our last big snow. I camped out in my tent one night at Blind Lake during the snowstorm and then spent an nice cozy warm night in the yurt!
