We bought two new timemasters in 2021. Both have over 500 hours of use in the past 3 years. The engines are still running strong (knock on wood).

Thanks for commenting! I agree, I could have done a better job comparing both of these mowers. I put nearly 300 hours on the FW15 and really don’t know why the cut quality wasn’t any better than the Timemaster. I tried both mulching and hi-lift blades. I sharpen them on a regular basis but really didn’t see much difference in quality. There were always stragglers.

@@BillyGoatLawnService It could be a number if things. Type of blades, type of grass, shape of belts, pulleys and so on. While I like my Toro I truly love the Ferris. I live in East Texas, we have to deal with all type of tough grass like bahia. But I have never had stagglers with the FW15. I have had to double cut if not triple cut with my Toro if I let the grass get to tall. But I mulch with the Toro so the blades do not have much lift. The FW15 has a deeper deck but the lift volume especially if I use mulching blades will not leave very many stragglers if none at all. You said your FW15 had over 300 hours, perhaps your belt tension has to much slack. Things like that can affect performance.

Thanks for commenting! These transmissions are fine for residential use but we use them commercially. We mow several properties with steep terrain. Not sure why but the transmission tend to slip to the point where there is no traction. At some point, I will make a video of the gears inside the transmission.

We have several yards with steep hills. Our timemasters definitely get a workout. The transmissions just don’t hold up. Now I have a stock pile of old transmissions sitting on the shelf. Would be nice if they had rebuild kits. Figured I would make this video to help pay for my next transmission. lol.

Definitely seems like your transmission is shot and needs to be replaced. Keep in mind, it will take at least a half hour to replace.

Thanks for commenting! Toro has been selling the timemaster for a decade now. They made some improvements since then but there are still a lot of customer complaints with certain parts wearing fast.

Always appreciate your comments! These type of videos can be a bit boring but I’m sure if you ever get a used timemaster, you’ll be replacing the transmission at some point.

The high lift blades do a much better job for bagging. The part number on the blade is 742-05235.

Thanks for commenting! I agree… pulling a sulky isn’t ideal behind this brush mower, especially when turning without power steering of some sort.

This mower is awesome if you don’t abuse it. Even though they labeled it as commercial, it’s more of a consumer pro. For heavy commercial use, I recommend Bradley Mowers from a price standpoint.

Thanks for commenting! After all this useless information, I needed up going back with the original transmission with the plastic pulley. The only thing I do know, all these transmissions are junk. I did crack them open and noticed no difference with the gears inside the casing. Only difference is the pulleys.

I really do miss the FW15 but the main reason I sold it was the handlebar is not ergonomically designed. Very uncomfortable to operate after a few hours of use causing hand and wrist pain, especially on hills.

Thanks for commenting! The pulley upgrade is worth the investment if you plan on keeping the timemaster. I originally had the 2015 timemaster with the 190cc briggs but way under powered for commercial use. We now have 3 timemasters all with 223cc engines. I would love to upgrade to either the kohler or Kawasaki engine.

I believe Hustler stopped making the super 88 in 2022. As far as I know they now off the super 104.

I never did inquire about getting another gauge. Was hoping there would be a recall since there are others stating their gas gauge not reading correctly.
