    I have a Time Master, and I'm not sure if the transmission is going bad or not but I'm used to the 22 inch personal Pace mowers where as soon as you push on it it takes off fast whereas my Time Master there seems to be a delay and I almost have to push it sometimes. I know how to adjust the cable, I adjusted it so much that it broke the plastic piece off

      From what you’re subscribing, the transmission is going bad. I tried everything to prolong the life of the transmission but within a week I start to notice the lack of power. Replacing the transmission every month can get quite expensive. Toro really needs to look into re-engineer the self propel system.

    Bill. I’m getting a noise when the back wheels are moving. Any possibility of it being something with the wheel. Or is it all connected to the transmission? “Clean cuts”

    • @BillyGoatLawnService
      @BillyGoatLawnService  Před rokem

      My first guess would be the center support bearing next to the transmission is bad. To check apply wd40 around the bearing and see if the noise goes away.

    QUESTION: curious - what is the cable /hose piece that comes out of a black box and into the discharge side of your mower? Looks to be some aftermarket piece. Thanks!

    Have you noticed a difference in the differential getting you better traction? I had the idea of this after purchasing a time master over the turfmaster due to it being lighter for my wife to handle on hilly yards. The problem we have with the time master is the differential being too loose. One wheel will spin like crazy and it’s borderline dangerous. My exmark commercial 21 had no problem with the differential getting traction. So I was curious about doing this same thing you did here hoping the commercial grade unit would have that better diff. So have you noticed a difference in that yourself, do you happen to face the same problems as us? Thanks for posting

    • @BillyGoatLawnService
      @BillyGoatLawnService  Před rokem +1

      I found using a turf master version transmission has no difference in performance on the time master. One wheel will spin on hills.

    Quick question. I’m having a hard time turning seems like the rear wheels lock every time I need to turn. I also started hearing a grinding noise when I move the mower while is off. Would that be my transmission starting to go bad?

    • @BillyGoatLawnService
      @BillyGoatLawnService  Před 11 měsíci

      My first thought is your center support transmission shaft bearing is seizing up. Spray wd40 on both sides of the bearing and see if that helps.

    I’m gonna go with the smaller gear ratio is turning the transmission harder and making it get hotter nothing to do with the pulley material type lol. See the diameter of the big pulley changes the gear ratio of how hard your turning the gears inside, so the commercial one your turning it way less so more torque, less heat, and also makes it slower 😊

    Why does this sound so familiar lol

  • @5fivesix583
    @5fivesix583 Před 10 měsíci

    The larger pully of the turfmaster makes the run speed slower. I believe the turf master pto shaft pully is larger. The transmissions are basically just a 2 cone gears that push a center gear

    • @BillyGoatLawnService
      @BillyGoatLawnService  Před 10 měsíci

      I learned the hard way that the larger pulley makes the mower speed slower.

  • @darrenupton5500
    @darrenupton5500 Před rokem

    I wonder how the variable speed works inside the transmission. I guess something slips so they are made to wear out over time as mine did.

  • @thomato981

    The Exmark 30in's transmission looks very beefy and also has a fan on top of the pulley. It costs over $400 though. It might fit since that mower is built similarly to the turf master.

    • @BillyGoatLawnService
      @BillyGoatLawnService  Před 10 měsíci

      I would love to install a Exmark transmission but not willing to spend $400 if it doesn’t fit. I’m not sure but I think the Exmark frame is modified for the beefy transmission.

      Possibly the drive cable isn’t engaged fully. Check out this video if you haven’t seen it. czcams.com/video/vH6jJYNIiz4/video.htmlsi=SK84_XEJ45ZkPent

    • @slowb4lls1
      @slowb4lls1 Před 8 měsíci

      I swear I think the transmission on the new ones is limited slip like a car, cause I got a brand spanking new time waster and was sadly having to use it on a hilll the other day sloping like almost a cliff basically to the left, and the mower was slipping the right rear wheel and it stops pulling on a hill unless that right rear tire has traction. Which would mean is sorta a one wheel wonder mower on hills so the right rear is the main drive wheel

    • @BillyGoatLawnService

  • @1jantheman1
    @1jantheman1 Před 9 měsíci

    Does bigger pulley mean larger drive belt and if yes what size? No fitting issues with that large pulley over the standard one? Yea, I would like to at least see the finished product and how it fits. More torque but less speed? Same transmission just larger pulley and that's it?

    • @BillyGoatLawnService
      @BillyGoatLawnService  Před 9 měsíci

      You are correct! The bigger pulley has more torque but less speed. Fits perfectly but have to use the turfmaster belt 116-7116.

      @@BillyGoatLawnService actually this is the 2nd replacement. I do not have an hour meter but the original lasted a full season of heavy use. The 1st replacement lasted a full season as well though it was not used nearly as much and the shaft or axle broke in half. I have a new carrier bearing ordered because that is where it broke at.

    Almost had some thoughts, but settle on the conclusion that the bigger metal pulley makes it run cooler?
    Did you even bother to crack it open to realize that the other gears may also be different ratios? Same motor RPM? I mean what are we talking about here? You are so simple it makes my head hurt waiting for you to kludge your way to the obvious.

      Thanks for commenting! After all this useless information, I needed up going back with the original transmission with the plastic pulley. The only thing I do know, all these transmissions are junk. I did crack them open and noticed no difference with the gears inside the casing. Only difference is the pulleys.
