I have 2 time master and mow an average of 90 lawns a week around 2,500 a season. This machine is amazing. Yes clogging, tall grass and rain are a problem but it will get it done. My 2 mowers have now started season 2 and already have 220 lawns for the season.
Keep mowing.
You may want to upgrade the syncro belt idlers to the Heavy Duty offerings. The older machines would fail often
I try not to ever cut my grass when it’s wet and I clean under my deck after each use. I’ve had my time master for two years and haven’t had any issues yet. You treat your equipment good and it will take care of you.
great video I am having problem getting the rear wheels off my toro time master I have removed the wheel nut but still can't remove the wheel ant Ideals.
I’ve owned a couple of toro time masters and fact that the grass sticks to the bottom of the deck is my biggest complaint also. The. other issue I’ve also had is with the nubs on the wheel adjusters wearing out and the deck height doesn’t stay level.
Clean the bottom of the deck really really good. I mean scrap it,brush it clean remove all debris. Then repaint it in gloss finish. When dry spray it with cooking spray oil. Do the same with a snow blower.
Had to re-solder the wire on my kill switch. Set the deck to the height the mower doesn't bog at and not the height I want the grass at, or disengage the blades, tilt the mower, re-engage the blades to clear the built up grass under the deck every row, but then I have little piles to go rake up. Got a new set of blades on order as mine are hideous. Hope this helps reduce the build-up under the deck.
Put the side discharge flap back on and raise the deck up. Discharge the clippings out of the side and you'll solve most of your problem.
We do that sometimes but most of the time the grass is so thick that it clogs up the shoot.

I agree 100% , but mine shuts of well. I have found that the fuel tank is way to small, and if the front wheels would pivot, would make easier work of mowing. The clogging up is a real hassle, if you lift the deck and mow it high this will help this.

Are you able to replace the muffler?
I use mine commercially and for side discharge only so i get the grinder out and cut the side discharge to twice the size. Always wear safety glasses when using the mower after doing this as some debris will fly backwards and get ya.
Added a fuel shutoff valve on mine. Never use the stop rocker switch and clears the carb of gas after each mow.
To solve the deck problem use side discharge.... i also spray mine with ceramic wax so the grass doesn't stick

My carburetor is bad, when it warms up it starts surging really bad!
I have 10 hours on mine and my neighbor has one that is a few years old. Both have a slight misfire with no load, regardless of engine temperature. Does yours do that as well?
Yes. We also bought a brand new one it also has a ticking problem and a misfire.
@@KBLC19 Mine doesn't tick, its just a little rough with no load with the occasional misfire. Runs real strong under load and sounds much better.
@@jacobgroezinger1606 - Yup. Mine also has a slight stumble/surge under zero load. Not too surprising - Briggs was the company that thought plastic carbs would be a great idea.
In reality, it runs fine under load, and that's what I care about. I console myself by remembering all those hopped-up muscle cars from the seventies with high-lift cams that barely idled.
Cutting Grass 101: 1) Don't mow wet grass. 2) If mowing tall and thick grass adjust deck height accordingly to where the mower doesn't bog down and/or slow down the cutting speed (walking). This is a great mower but you have to know some basic physics and read the operators manual before use. Don't allow your ego to allow you to falsely believe you know how to operate the mower (or any implement/product). Most ALL negative reviews of nearly any product are operator error. Fact!
You just described mine. lol Get ready to change your blade belts around every 150 hours and remember to set your belt tensioner every 50 hours. Thanks

So mine the blades just stop so do I buy blade belts
Over 2500 cuts with my 2 timemasters going into season 2 haven't done a thing but add gas. No air filter oil change belt change or even spark plug. They still start on 1st or 2nd pull and mow like the day I got them. I do sharpen the blades though.
How small is the gas tank
Anyone have a problem with the belt that spins the blades? I had 1.5 hours on mine and the blades stopped spinning. Brand new belt was fraying. Replaced the belt and having the same problem.
Make sure the engine bolts are tight to the frame and that the belt pulleys are in a straight line to each other.
What type of grass are you cutting, how low are you cutting and how often you cut? It’s probably not the mower, just the way you’re using it.
I cut all my yards at 3 3/4”. The lawn is sometimes 4.25” tall

My problem with my new Toro Timemaster is the blade clutch slips too much (I'm assuming it has some sort of clutch or idler pulley blade engagement since the blades can be stopped with the motor still running). I typically mow my lawn when it reaches 4 to 5 inches in height but this mower does not like that especially if the grass is even slightly damp. You can hear the blades when they spin up to the proper speed. They make a noticeable whirring sound so when the drive mechanism can't get the blades up to speed it's noticeable a well. This mower struggles to keep the blades spinning at the correct speed unless the lawn is done every few days (essentially a lite trim). Sometimes the blades just stop even though the mower is still moving. If the lawn gets up to 5 inches it actually takes longer to mow my lawn than with my old 21 inch push mower especially if the grass is in any way damp. This can't be normal can it?
If I'm understanding you correctly, it's an easy fix.
You just need to adjust the brake / blade engagement cable.
There is a bracket that holds the cable tight underneath the belt cover, loosen it, pull the cable somewhat tight, then tighten it back up.
Lot's of videos showing how to do it and it only takes five minutes.
You just have to learn it see what I do is be gentle with it and I never cut wet grass or grass 5 inches or more with it I’ll pull out the Honda or zero turn but anything under 5 inches and dry I use the toro! And change your v belt like every 2 to 3 months if your commercially using it!

Your not suppose to cut wet grass anyway yeah I get it you gotta do what you gotta do well then deal with the consequences that come with wet grass now with being said the sweet spot is 4 inches or less on maintenance yards only you know with the nice green grass never cut grass that has a lot of sticks and dirt I use my Honda for that and occasionally damp but not wet grass maybe a 5 minute passing you have to engage real slow at all times! Because when I looked at the commercial on tv I didn’t see them ever cutting in the rain or tall grass it was only nice yards which makes since if you deal with A lot of them small yards then this or the commercial one is perfect anything higher then 4 to 5 inches get a walk behind or a commercial Honda when I pull up to a yard and it has a sticks and so forth I’ll pull my Honda out since it only has one blade and can cut that stuff better then and handle it better and less chance of a belt or blade washer getting broken that way your time master will last until you get a commercial and when I pull up to a yard or property that has the good green manicured yards I pull out my exmark 30 I also have the time master and if the shit higher then 5 inches walk behind or time to get on a zero turn or stand on! Follow them rules you will thank me later and one more thing belts and pullies will break learn how to fix them it’s easy then you feel a little better if something breaks because of ware!

I won't mulch when it's long or wet ,it's easier for me to just open the chute flap. when mowing in this environment.
Bed liner can of paint helps.

I weed whack the grass down if it’s over 5 inches when I use my toro I never use it in wet grass I’ll pull the Honda out! But I mostly use my toro on dry grass pretty much 4 inches and under is the sweet spot for these mowers!
I don't know what he's mowing but I've never had that happen with mine... I don't care what type of mower you have any time your mulching it's going to stick inside the bell that's why you scrape every day... That's just regular maintenance...
Your learning. The next issue is the back wheel adjust will ware out it will fall hits a bump. The belts break a lot cables break a lot. I started in 2016 on my 3 rd one . All same issue. For me it's a good trim mower for nice lawns. . I have one now as a back up. .

Same issue with the kill switch -- I took it apart and firmly affixed the wires -- problem solved.
It appears I am the only one with my Toro 30 inch Timemaster that wont start. I adjusted the cable because all of a sudden the blades disengaged, after adjustment I was able to finish the half acre yard. Now I wanted to cut it again and after 10-12 pulls it just did not start, so I decided to see is somebody had the same problem and how they fix it. No, mine is not electric. Thanks.
Take the air filter housing off and make sure the auto choke is working. The carb flap should be closed when it’s cold. Spray some carb spray in and see if it cranks up.

I’ve had mine two years. Piece of shit. If that grass is even remotely damp or thick you’ll be cleaning out the grass from the deck multiple times per mow. I have a little under a half acre and it constantly clogs.
I have one for my semi commercial landscaping business and it’s cuts and mulches thick, tall grass with no problem. No real slow down in engine speed as long as you walk slower. Only really gums up with stuff if grass is very wet and deck only needs to be cleaned out 2-3 times a week. Thing is a champ in most aspects but it’s gas tank is tiny (only like 45 minutes of runtime) and it struggles to move itself on hills. I can run it over 6 inches of hedge clippings and with two passes you couldnt tell that there was a pile of leaves/stems.
Clog master, my John Deere 21 inch and Craftsman, does 100 percent better
not a bad mower...engine is shit. If you are using it daily for lawn care you will end up doing a re-power at some point....I did the Kohler CV200

I’ve owned this mower for a year and it’s been constant issues first problem the blade in gauge cable broke replaced I was charged $80 2 weeks later I was mowing didn’t hit anything all of a sudden I hear a loud noise under the deck the engine sounded like it was going to blow up I turned it off immediately turn it over the side the 2 blades were hitting each other they got destroyed bent I ordered new blades when I was going to install them and put them back in time took off the top cover the inlet pulley completely destroyed now back to the dealership hopefully Toro fixes it with warranty and I’m selling it right away nothing like my Honda HRX217 that mower is over 6 years old thank God I never sold it cause she is back in our fleet.
Nearly all these issues can be prevented and avoided if you had common sense, ofc the deck paint will come off, that happens with every deck
Just walk slower thru heavier wet grass. Give it a chance to do its job.
I make an effort to use the washout plug every time after use.
It takes 5 min but keeps 95% of the buildup washed away.
Lower the deck as low as it will go.. attach hose.. run with blades on for 3-5 min.
The green glop goo just ooozes out.
Once a year I’ll pressure wash the underside and coat with rustoleum.
For a $1200 mower I intend for it to last 15 years.

My Time Master lasted one season. It was well maintained and kept indoors. I will never buy Toro again.
They come with a 3 year warranty. Did you not put a claim in?

I bought a 450 dollar Honda mower and it only lasted two year no power transmission always messed up I hated that thing but maybe I bought a lemon 😂 but I always hear good thing about Honda but I love Briggs engines there really good have a good day
Well that sounds good, if Honda had a 30-in mower... which they don't.
And if you don't care about having to constantly replace the transmission axle shaft bushings on the hrn, hrr and hrx mowers, which if you don't replace quickly enough, can wear the transmission axle shafts so you get to buy a new transmission.
And I don't know what the tire treads on the Honda's are made out of, but I go through a set of those faster than my kid wears out the tires on their Mattel toy cars.
Then there's the cheesy height adjustment levers which just have a little stamped out sheet metal tab that eventually ends up rounding off so your wheels pop out of their height setting if you hit a bump. Fortunately your other three adjustment levers will probably still hold their height. Yeah that's right - you have to adjust each wheel individually. Which is a pain when you're going from one yard to another yard and setting the height for each one.
Honda makes a pretty good mower engine. But as far as their mowers go, I think they stopped engineering at the engine. Honestly, I think the only people that are impressed with Honda mowers are the ones that previously had an MTD mower or some other piece of junk.
@@47f0 They actually do. A 32 inch Ferris comes with a Honda engine.
@@brickgoon - And the Ferris is not made by Honda. You can tell because it's a better mower. As I said in my post, I don't have a problem with Honda engines, I just don't think much of their mowers.
The irony here is that Ferris is owned by Briggs & Stratton. I don't think much of Briggs & Stratton engines. Apparently neither does Briggs & Stratton... that's why they put a Honda on it.

The biggest issue is that your using a dyi'r mower in commercial application

@@MJorgy5 I agree with you. I have owned a TimeMaster since 2018. Best 30" mower in my opinion. However, Put it on a crew trailer and the workers will tear it up. When using it in a commercial application, one needs common sense and realize its a homeowner grade machine and treat it accordingly.
