  • This video show the parts and how-to to add a 1 Gallon Gas Tank to Toro Timemaster.
    Want the 1 Gallon from the Turfmaster to replace the puny tank on the Timemaster?
    See NOTES for some, um, notes.
    DISCLAIMER: This is my first video, it's cringy, and I don't know what I'm doing.
    Also, do this at your own risk and/or peril.
    Parts:
    1. Toro 115-0954-03 - MOUNT TANK
    2. Toro 114-0280 TANK-FUEL OEM (part number cross-referenced is a newer part number)
    3. Toro 46-8091 Chute Hinge Screw (2 pack)
    4. Toro 109-6776 Cap-Ratchet, Tethered
    5. Toro 115-0962 HOSE-VENT, CANISTER OEM
    6. M6x1.00 Flange Bolts (2) - substitute 1/4 flange bolts
    7. M6x1.00 Nylon lock nuts (2) - substitute 1/4 nylon lock nuts with flanges
    8. 1/4 flat washers (2)
    NOTES:
    1. I may add an aluminum plate to elevate (raise) the tank up some so that it is higher than the carburetor.
    2. You may want to add paint to the drilled-out steel and aluminum to keep it from rusting (I may do this later).
    3. Make sure the tank bracket is level.
    4. More notes added as needed.
    Leave a comment - I take criticism as well as positive comments!

    Just mowed 2 lawns, didn’t stop the engine once, and still about a half tank left.
    This makes the machine that much more usable.
    Next up heavy duty pulleys so I never ever have to deal with the pulleys.

      @@1975oldschool That's great! Yes, I haven't put the new pulleys on yet, kind of have them sitting as insurance for now. I also bought new m5 screws with nylon inserts for the recoil assembly because one original nut got lost. So from now on I'm only getting flange nuts with nylon inserts to make sure nothing vibrates itself loose.

    Hey, just a tip... You can mount that hour meter on the black plate at the front left of the engine. I used some HVAC self tapping screws. Worked like a charm. Even some automotive grade double-sided sticky tape will work.

    Can't they just make a tank that screws and connects tightly into the existing gas port and maybe put a couple latches to firmly secure it in place?

    Thank you for this. I'm on 0.65 acres of weeds. I feel like I'm constantly refueling on the original tank. I probably empty the bag about 15 times - makes me want to poison the entire yard and seed dwarf fescue. My yard is poorly graded too - bump city - aftermarket wheels with better tread would be helpful too.

    • @jasm.5823
      @jasm.5823  Před 3 lety

      I don’t bag anymore, and that’s saved a ton of time and hassle.
      I try to mow at least once every week, and let the grass grow a little longer to crowd out the weeds.
      I think I have it set to “C” height right now.
      If you have a lot of bumps have you considered adding soil and using a wide leveling rake to work out the level? With a larger yard it will take some time but can be done. This is what I did at my parents house and also at my house.

      I only tried the side because of the oem toro mounting bracket.
      If mounting behind the engine you could and angled bracket bolted off the deck, and then check for clearance. The handle mechanism may get in the way. Sorry I can’t help more.

    @johncozad92 Před 3 lety

    I like the tank mount but I'm not sure why you want to change pull cord direction instead of just bringing it up to the handle bar as designed, unless you bag a lot.

      @jasm.5823  Před 3 lety

      Original plan was to be able to use a single large tank and keep it simple. Good idea, may look at that in the spring. It’s a bit tight for space though so it may not have enough room.

      I pieced it together mostly from eBay stores. I figured I would upgrade the Timemaster with the tank and heavy-duty pulleys to get it closer to the Turfmaster, without spending another 1000. So the tank parts and the pulleys add about 200-300 depending on what you can get. I’d been planning this for a while so I definitely put some cash aside to add the parts.
      I plan to add the pulleys in March and will post up a video. These are solid pulleys too and should last a LOT longer than what this comes with.
      Check out ebay seller mowandsnow, I bought the tank and bracket there.

    This is mis information I just got one for 1600 is used it on over an acre only filled it 2 times and still had enough gas t it to do a normal yard there is no possible way to run out of gas on a residential house with this mower if your doing commercial and over an acre then ya maybe add a gas tank or maybe drop a tank in the area your most likely to run out. I don't think modify this is the way to go

People on this channel will know that it will be necessary to remove bolts when removing a cover. Again, I'm only using this as an example.

      Gas is approximately 7 lb per gallon. If you’re not using the original tank also you are adding maybe 3 lb in capacity. I get more than 3 lbs of clippings built up under the deck.
