    Good job on the build. With that said speakers are not tilted enough considering seating distance, especially with the choice of tweeter. While I do understand that space may be limited you will get almost zero sense of movement due to close proximity of speakers to each other.

    Hello Happy day to all who can help me. My name is Jose Ortega, am a fan of good sound from an early age, I live in Venezuela and I write for help because I want to make a pair of crossover that is separate treble and bass means to allow me use in bi-amplify mode and full range mode and protect the following components: Mid-Lows: FANE 12" Colossus 12MB and Compression Drivers : LANZAR PRO D210B 1" 1.75" Voice Coil. SPECIFICATIONS: Mid-Bass Fane Colosus 12MB: 8 Ohmn - 450 W (AES) RMS - Peak Power (6dB Crest Factor) 1.800 w (AES) - 6dB Usable Frequency Range 40 Hz - 3.5 kHz - Sensitivity (1 w - 1 m) 98 dB. Compression Drivers LANBZAR PRO D210B: DRIVER 01 INCH THROAT - Throat Diameter 25.4 / 1 mm / inch - Nominal Impedance 8 ohm - 6.8 ohm Minimum Impedance 130 watt Nominal Power Handling - Nominal Power Handling (AES) 65 watt RMS - Sensitivity (1W / 1M) 108.5 db - Frequency range 900-17000 Hz - 1800 Hz crossover Recommended - Voice Coil Diameter 1.75 inch - Winding Material CCAW I currently hold the following components for the manufacture of crossovers: 2pcs 20W51RJ ceramic resistors , 2pcs 20W80RJ ceramic resistors. 2 pcs capacitors 3.3UF 250V , 2 pcs coils for drivers , 4 pcs bulbs 12V for Drivers protection. I will appreciate if any expert could help and tell me others components that I need to manufacture and wiring diagram of the components. The purpose of this crossovers is to use for professional sound so I want to emphasize in the most suitable cut frequency for protect the drivers and extend the useful life and bulbs of protection. And for the low sometimes I'll will use it as a full range with lower and middle frecuencys and other when accompany with low drivers FANE Colosus 18XB it will use more as a mids. I appreciate all the help you can give me wuth this project Thanks in advance Jose G. Ortega From Venezuela

    • @taedom
      @taedom Před 9 lety

      Russell Rutter I did that it was caused by the weight of the water inside the pipes and there being no support of that weight.

    • @rrutter81
      @rrutter81 Před 9 lety

      taedom water inside your pipes wasnt over the schedule 40 parameters of 120 lbs. I am using flexible reinforced nylon tubing with a 6000 gph pump and have no issues. Those returns look like 1 inch. Prime and glue it next time and you wont have that problem. By all means... argue with me, but you can definitely tell a difference between your lines separated and mine.

    • @rrutter81
      @rrutter81 Před 9 lety

      taedom quick note.... 120 lbs per square inch.... not whole setup. You could take all your hoses, fill them with water.... and it wont equal the schedule 40 rating those pipes are at. So stating that the weight of 3-5 lbs of water on a nozzle makes me scratch my head. I'm not trying to be an ass. I just want you to know.... prime and glue it correctly next time.

    Kessil is a good led have them and love em. Would just start tank over looks too far gone between tank and sump. Gonna take u longer to get stuff straight than it would to cycle the tank. No water changes lol you were trippin that's just a rookie mistake.

  • @sv650scotty
    @sv650scotty Před 9 lety

    Go kessil! They are awesome! As for the rest of your tank I myself would do a complete strip down and start again. I have found over the 10 years of doing this reef tank hobby keeping it simple works best for me. As much of a pain doing water changes is, if you have the best RO and salt mix you can get and do a water change once a week and change out your filters etc. Keep fish to a minimum etc. Its just to easy to neglect your tank and maintenance as I have done in the past then wonder why its all gone wrong. Its hard and expensive but put the elbow grease in and you will be rewarded. Good luck and hope it all works out mate :)

    Thank You So Much Bro! YOU DID A GREAT JOB! It so Nice to see guys who can Take the Chance on trying to BUILDING SOMETHING! You Know I have been Building my Cab AND got stuck on something I FORGOT! On Speaker Impedance Calculations, From My AMP, trying to get all my 6 Range Speakers to make 4 Ohms and the Passive Crossover said not to go under 4 ohms as well! It took a lot of WORK on getting everything to match, but I did it! Thanks to you I Remembered that the crossover is just a gate for kHz and Hz's to gives signal to the Speakers only! In the end, all ground leads to the AMP have to be the Impedance your AMP can handle, and mine is solid state, 4 Ohm and above, and nothing below. Thank Again, Cliff Campbell!

    I hv jbl 2441 16 ohm horn I need passive crossover for tht can u help me or you give me a design

    • @randolphpatterson5061
      @randolphpatterson5061 Před 8 lety

      +Javed Qureshi I don't have any experience with that model of speaker, but the general idea is that if you build a crossover for just a horn, then you have to do something with the low end that the horn won't reproduce. You can wire up a two-way and run the highs to the horn but the lows have to go to either a dummy load or to a woofer. You could make it similar to some p.a. horn cabinets that have a "lo out" output jack so you can patch that to a low end cab with a speaker cable. You can't leave the low end connectors dangling, as that merely constitutes an infinite impedance, something no manufacturer recommends. You can't just connect them together or to ground (same-same), as that constitutes a short circuit. Again, not recommended. If you have the horn only and need to run it in isolation, you'd still need to run the lows to a dummy load. There are very large resistors available with 50 or 100 watts of rated power handling, and many of those resistors are configured as 4, 8, or 16 Ohms, What you have , though, is a lot of amplifier power being wasted, using the bulk of its capability to drive a dummy load, and only a relatively small amount of its power to drive the horn. In fact, any passive crossover wastes a lot of amplifier power, even when driving a full-range system. You can Google "speaker crossovers" to get many schematic images of 2-way & 3-way xovers, and select the components according to the horn's power handling ability. You want the components to handle at least as much power as the horn can, and maybe even more. The examples you'll find will often display the frequency crossover points, such as 1 kHz for a 2-way, 400Hz & 1200Hz for a 3-way, etc.. In a 3-way system, the xover freq for the horn (tweeter) can even be as high as 10kHz. You won't really hear a lot of music above that, it's basically confined to the highest single octave of the human hearing range. In the case of your 2441, it tops out somewhere around 16-18 kHz, and actually doesn't sound all that good at it's highest range, and it's often installed as a midrange horn with a supertweeter added to the top end. So you may want to consider using it as such. This might be how you'd set it up, if your goal is to have a good listening experience. I know, it gets complicated, right? You can use it as a mid in a system with crossover points at 1 kHz and 5-12 kHz. There's a much less complicated way, and that is to use an electronic rack-mounted crossover and multiple amps. It can cost some money to put that kind of a system together, but it solves many problems, or at least some of the most important ones. For one thing, you don't have to run an amp & speaker on all of the outputs, and another thing is that your amps will exceed their power ratings when they don't have to drive all frequencies at the same time. If I can answer any of your questions, just enter a short reply and I'll see a notification on my email.

    WOOOOOOW damn bro, happens to the best of us, definitely sux tho. similar situation happened to me also, actually a few times. My saving grace was the apex aquacontroller. you put float switched in every tank, display, sump, refugium etc, and set it up so if the water level raises or drops to much it will shut the entire system down, or what ever pumps you program it to shut off rather. the thing is a life saver. I always recommend purchasing one to every tank owner.

    your tank definitely looks like it should for not having very much maintenance done on it. All your corals that are doing good are corals that thrive in high nutrient waters, but obviously your phosphates are prob through the roof hence the cyano everywhere and your nitrates are prob really high too. You want to get rid of the cyano you need to up your WC's big time like weekly 10%, with siphoning it out and siphoning the sand bed which is fine cause you dont have a DSB. Get you a reactor with some gfo and do that for a month or two and it will be gone.
