Akemie’s Taiko benefits greatly with a sample and hold. Mult the trigger that’s triggering the AT into the sample and hold then input the sequence or modulation into the sample and hold. That way every thing happens at the same time.

This was such a good set of tips. Just placed an order for a Squid Salmple and am super excited. Really loved the bit at the end about adjusting the end point of the sample to generate more interesting groove. Such a smart idea!

Es8 and Es9 and the expansion modules are for live performances excellent and recording… and for using modules you don’t yet have…. And chains of modules or things like max msp live

Warp is all about cross mod and if you’re not doing sound design it is still necessary to create complex oscillations, modulation, waveforms in general replace the buffered mult with the add2 hour analogue it’s a precision adder and averager.. way more dynamic complexity

It seems like you aren’t familiar with West Coast synthesis or Buchla stuff in general so this review is moot.

Modular is fun to experiment with as the sonic possibilities are endless but. primary aspect of Modular Music( imho) is that it rarely ever provides much space for the listener... from ambient evolving soundscapes to intricate syncopated notes beats and sounds its often just non-stop. I lose interest if the same groove/patterns ..are continues w/o something else happening. Occasionally I find modular posts that use tricks like 'drop-outs' ( .. stopping the groove and letting the reverb /echo ring out before restarting), or arrangements variations and/or a change in rhythm and harmonic movement and these catch my interest.

This is why I fk with this module despite its simplicity. It just sounds effortlessly GOOD

Cool and informative run down. Only thing I'd say is that it isn't really Akemies that doesn't track properly, it's that BSP has a load of slew in it's voltage output so it doesn't always reach the required voltage before it Akemies received the trigger. This is an issue for modules that snapshot input voltages when the trigger is received.

Modern oscillators have a kitchen sink approach to them. Buchla and Serge have utility modules to help facilitate and even explore further.

I'd like to provide an alternative method for what he shows at 2:00. In regards to saving default project You can also delete every channel in your project, except what is used by the ES-9. Then save as a template instead of going into preferences and making it the autoload. It makes it easy to drag/drop the tracks into any project when you want to call it up. Useful for saving cpu on your autoload and also useful for old projects that didn't exist before your new workflow autoload. You could also use the Expert Sleepers FH-2 with the expansion addons and use midi ccs as your base of conversion to cv. Vastly expanding on your output options to modular gear. Fuckin rad!

both have somebody calls a redesign in the 1960s oscillator the worst oscillator it's a shame what you have to do when you need to get creative and think outside the box imagination creativity is in short supply these days
