  • I've had a lot of questions recently about how I use Samples within Eurorack Modular so thought I'd put together this video. I'm using the ALM Busy Circuits Squid Salmple for these examples but you should be able to achieve the same thing using almost any Modular (or Non Modular) Sampler.

This was such a good set of tips. Just placed an order for a Squid Salmple and am super excited. Really loved the bit at the end about adjusting the end point of the sample to generate more interesting groove. Such a smart idea!

Nice, my really simplistic take on using any sample as a Rhythm part is to just let a sample play in the Disting then use euclidean triggers to open a snappy envelope, maybe a bit of filtering on the sample and you can an evolving percussion that evolves for the length of the sample before continuing looping. Using what I've got obviously here, would love a Squid Sample or a Squarp Rample to be honest :)

Great vid!! I'm just getting into full modular and am trying to put together a rack that focuses on samples, loops, repetion, beats etc.
I've got a rample, pams, a tape sampler and dfam which focus on that area. Could you suggest any modules which I'd benefit from having in my set up for this purpose? would it be worth investing in a squid with me already having a rample do you think?

Does not sound like there is any midi velocity. How are drums very useful without midi velocity from the pads. That can't be very fun!
