  • Been loving building out sort of polyphonic sounding shifting chord patterns by offsetting the pitch of grains using the Miso Cornflake then setting this against some really beat based eurorack modular synth stuff.

    Cool module but I'm going to keep Clouds because 525$ US MSRP for Cornflakes is granulating my checking account.

    Excellent my friend! There I was thinking I was happy with my rig and then you tempt me with Cornflakes!! 😉

    …interesting… I might have to look into granular modules a bit… but damn, that LXD is kinda the star of the show here! :)

    Dont forget you can load custom Scala scales onto Cornflakes

    Sofar I've seen all demo's have some kind of reverb or delay applied, which makes it impossible to hear what the dry sound actually sounds like. The Reflex Liveloop sounds very harsh 'clicky', whereas Morphagene, specifically when using 'morph' sounds like the grains are "rounded" by an envelope. How does the dry sound of the Cornflakes compare to these two?

    Nice demo of what this can accomplish and your demo is only one of three I’ve seen on YT deffo potential
    What unit are you adjusting on your right, mixer????

    What’re you using for the nice. Skippy beats etc? Ableton? I can never get that feel down with my drum programming!!

    In the bin? My word I have four Clouds clones, two MI Beads…..
    Mind you I already have Cornflakes too lol.

    Are you securing that A-100 case stack somehow? I tried stacking mine, but immediately got scared I was about to have a very expensive accident.

      I’ve always just stacked them never had any issues!

    Sounds cool but cant you do that by just feeding some nice arpeggios into the beads v/oct?

    @megamodularis Před 2 lety

    Nice! I like this idea, don’t have Cornflakes, might have to see what I can do with beads & clouds in this flavour (although you said cornflakes instead!) could use a drone and then I think you can play the grains of beads via a sequencer!)

    • @nivenofficial
      @nivenofficial  Před 2 lety

      yeah definitely possible, I'd be interested to hear what you come up with. The key difference with the modules is clouds / beads can only have one pitch at a time where Cornflakes can hold multiple pitches.

    • @megamodularis
      @megamodularis Před 2 lety

      @@nivenofficial You're right, that's where cornflakes really starts to sound interesting! (the last thing I need is another module on the 'to buy' list!) My (theoretical workaround) was to feed both beads and clouds, and to have them pitched differently (5th & 7th?) from the base drone, will see what I come up with!

    • @cardboardmusic
      @cardboardmusic Před 2 lety

      @@nivenofficial I know what you mean, but, I quote from the Beads manual "Patch a fast arpeggiated sequence into the PITCH CV input to create chords: each grain will be played at a randomly chosen note of the arpeggio." I must say I haven't used this technique (yet), but it might be worth looking into?

    Well, I have a Clouds clone, and it’s staying. But I have watched a lot of Cornflakes porn over the last week or so, and I’m getting one of those as well (when I’m next paid). I’m disappointed with my Chord v2, and this looks like my best bet for polyphony. And granular fun. Just general sonic mayhem really… Looking forward to it.

      Why are you disappointed with the chord v2?

      Yeah I've been loving great for controlled polyphony but also great for granular chaos!

    The vocal chops are not timed well. But you prolly fixed that by now. Anyway cool beat.
