What turbo are you used ng on the T5 build please? I have read the k24 is better out of the 3 turbos over the generations??

Great video! Quick question, I’m currently rebuilding my Volvo 940 from 1990/1991 (VIN says it’s 1991 but papers say it’s from november 1990, however, it’s got the same big 940s headlights from 91 you’ve shown in your video) and I’m looking for these beautiful US headlights you’ve shown in your video. But as you already said, it’s very hard to find them here in germany. Do you know if the ones you’ve shown in your video are also suitable for a Volvo 940? The only ones I could find on the internet are listed on eBay and the seller said that they’d only fit a Volvo 240. I’m not quite sure if they’d fit my 940. Do you have any idea? :) thanks a lot.

All of mine are indoors.. all mounted half way up the wall with 2 to 3 feet of always sloping down exhaust pipe on them before going through the wall. A small fan blows across it to capture that heat. A car battery with float charger (preference) OR a 30a power supply going th rough a ups powers it. Intake air is from indoors, it will not suck all the air out.. unit continually reheats warming indoor air. Exhaust hole is always 3 inch stuffed with house insulation and a heavy purpose bought exhaust flange outside.

I just love your series, i am currently moving into a new workshop. For my next project i intend to get an Amazon and either go for a heavy modified B20 or follow your example and go for a 230 route. You are an excellent teacher, very clear video's, great help for prefun planning. p.s. would it be possible for you to provide a shopping list of all the parts you procured, it would be a good starting point for other people. I've done this kind of modification for years now. However, I don't use wood or cheap casters as my bottom structure. I weld 2x2 angle iron as the frame then attach heavy-duty and high quality casters; however, the casters are not directly under the structure but to the sides above the frame so that the equipment, or storage unit, are not raised higher off the ground.

From where are you reading the different steps? Workshop 's manual? What is it? I have haynes one and it does not work with vvt system.

I can’t wait to see your projects in action again - I now have a 1993 960 wagon - whiteblock 2.9 litre automatic and a 1982 244 GL - Canadian assembled with the b23e engine and m46 transmission. Still haven’t built my crazy dream car - a Bertone Coupé with the 1990s Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe and 5 speed - for a Super Coupé. 😅

This is helpful. I changed my VVT for the first time. I copied another video step by step but failed. I got a check engine light. I copied your step by step. My Volvo is running like a brand new car.

Not many of them left so I hope this car will get a full restore so it will look like new.

One note, must turn vvt counter clockwise if unit is not spring loaded. Setpoint remains 1 tooth past mark. All else was the same. GREAT VIDEO

Outstanding work! What is the chance of you fabricating one for me? I live in Biloxi MS and am having a hard time finding a skilled welder to do it. Doing a T5 into a 1982 242. I can pay up front and send a pan and pickup tube.

How much oil did you put to lower unit? Just putting much oil as it takes while motor horizontal? My VP39 needs oil change after sitting 30 years. Best regards from finland

had this done a few months ago on a 2014 2.4 d4 awd xc70, problem I have now or it might be a coincidence is my dash lights up like a Christmas tree we every fault, first I get a yellow triangle saying powers steering failure then the radio goes off then brake system failure air bag failure engine failure and a few more, the car seems to try to re boot and I loose the speedo fuel but the dash stays on doesn't go dark, it takes a few minutes to some what settle but sometimes gets stuck in a loop so if I turn off the ignition the interior fans stay on so I have to re start the car and has no problem, once its done a system check I can turn car off as normal, one thing I do notice is just before it plays up the drivers window is so slow and the lights in the door window switch flicker and the heaters go from warm to cold, with all this going on the car still drives fine as in no limp mode still got breaks and steering and engine power. I was told your battery is playing up so put a new one on had the car reset to say its got new battery and was fine for 500 miles then it came back and was told the alternator was playing up so had a new one and did 200 to 300 miles and its back but this time more often, I thought it was mainly due to the weather at 8 degC but not so, I've tried to see if its the aircon module but its not. I'm at my whit's end and don't want to throw more money at it as I'm in for a few grand now, but it all started the same time I had cam belt and water pump done and from what I have read the Christmas tree dash lights are a common fault but no one says how they sorted it. The car its self is a dream to drive and on motor way uses no fuel I can get over 60 to the gallon on a long run and get minimum of 650 miles to a tank. Any help from anyone would be great.

I have done this 3 different times with a haynes manual. It does not say any of this and I have none of these tools. Bought the car not running and pulled the head to find 10 bent exhaust valves because the last poor s.o.b. (crackhead) mistimed it replacing a crank seal. This is mind blowing. The car starts weird and has a "stumble" occasionally while cranking. It will start eventually but sounds like it's hydrolocking. I've been fighting this problem for months because when you start it (it does start ever time) it runs perfectly. Wtf? I think you just solved one of the most difficult problems I've ever dealt with because of a completely and overly complex belt replacement procedure. I'll be buying tools and watching this video 10 more times.

I already wanted to buy this exhaust, well the one with two dampers because police and mot suck here in switzerland, but now i am really convinced. It seems reasonably quiet and looks as if it could flow a tremendous amount more than the stock system. Really like your videos, keep it up👍🏻

I think that on the first or second video you removed the piston rings and weighed it. Maybe you put back some of the rings up side down.. ?

Will 960 saloon rear lights fit my 740 saloon? With some modify I’m assuming but will they fit? As can’t find any 760 rears

I like the small overall size compared to setting the small shoe box charger on flat spot in the e gine bay. I would like to see more than 6 amps like 10 or 12. But for the cost and nice, small size it is perfect.

For future reference if you still have the car, the water pumps on those are known for getting destroyed because of the plastic impeller I suggest getting a metal one for future
