    The information and banter during the long videos is important. Fast forwarding time-lapse robs us of that valuable info.

      Sorry about that, had, and still have to some degree, technical difficulties with this video. But sometimes you just got to send it 😄

      @@BackmansGarage No worries mate. Really like your simplicity. Not to serious while building! you just build and see what wil happen. I would build mine the same!

    Älskar dom här filmerna. Du är underbar, Volvobroder!
    Kul att du och jag kör exakt samma stuk, blanksvart billackade ventilkåpor och polerade rostfria A4 kupolmuttrar.

    Thanks for this helpful video! Solid content! I need to replace the head gasket in my b230ft (401tkm) due to oil leaking. Still not sure I should do it myself or go to the mecanics. I’m quite familiar with the Saab v4 engines and rebuilt them, but the B230 might have some specialities I’m not aware of. Once you did it, it si all easy. At least you showed me a lot of hints. Thanks for that!

    After i am done with my 66' mustang project which is planned to be soon, i hope to buy an older volvo 240 and am most definitely going to use this build as a guide :)

    The camshaft is a VX3 cam from the 531 Head. The heads came from the B230FB engine in the 940gl NA

  • @SevenFortyMotorsports

    Hope you lubed the head bolt threads first! And after final 3rd stage of torque you put a 90 degree turn on each bolt and thats it. No need for a re-torque after a heat cycle. Thx for the content! Im doing a b234ft build on my channel real soon. Actually picking up the motor today!

    • @BackmansGarage
      @BackmansGarage  Před rokem +2

      Yes, all the bolts got lubed before assembly. However no 90 degree turn. This is an "alternative" way of doing this, not oem spec. Maybe thats why with this method you need to re-torque after driving. Hope your build will go smoothly 👍

    I almost always end up taking off my gloves at one point during repair or replacement, and then my hands get really dirty and then I wonder why my hands are so dirty and I have to clean them before I put my gloves back on.

    Hello! Your work is amazing! How much do you charge for a work like that?

  • @sverkere
    @sverkere Před rokem +1

    It's called valve clearance!

  • @jamesinc87
    @jamesinc87 Před rokem

    Typically if your machinist has ground your valves and seats in, it is not necessary to lap the valves also, but always ask your machinist.

    @ronbeton1999 Před rokem +1

    The manuals say to torque a B230 head down to 20Nm, 60Nm and 90 degrees. Why did you choose to do 30Nm, 60Nm, 90Nm and 125Nm?

    • @BackmansGarage
      @BackmansGarage  Před rokem +1

      30,60,90,115Nm the engine builder told me this was a better idea from experience. Probably should have mentioned that 😄

    Do you not use the hushers if you are running lash caps?

    • @BackmansGarage
      @BackmansGarage  Před rokem +1

      No, there is to my knowledge no way of using stock hushers when using Lash Caps. But, the valve noise is ok now that i an running it around 0.35mm valve clearance.

  • @craazyy22

    150nm on the headbolts? Are they not supposed to be degreed?

    • @BackmansGarage
      @BackmansGarage  Před rokem

      115Nm, and yes. Oem spec they should be degreed, this is an alternative method.
