Upgrading Seaclear SYS II 50 Gallon pump
This is a quick video how I upgraded my Sealer SYS II 50 Gallon aquarium. The pump that come s with this aquarium works fine. It is noisy though and has a tendency to break at the two clips where the cover is locked in place. But these are not the reasons for replacing the pump. It has an open inlet that my snails get into and eventually clogs the pump.

    Diana Walstad’s book on the planted aquarium recommends that you split your lighting period into two sessions with a siesta of a few hour in the middle. In her research, she discovered that Algae needs a steady stream of light to grow. Plants doesn’t have a problem with a split of lighting period. That at least one of your problems.

      Thank you for watching. You can purchase the original or Sicce pump from fish tanks direct.com. What I did was slow move the white tube back and forth (front of tank to the back of the tank) while pulling towards the filter end. But you have to remove or move the locking clip first. You should be able to slide the lock clip down towards the pump.

    Good information and well explained. I worked as a bacteriologist. And had aquariums all my life. The easiest way to get your tank stated with no fuss. Start clean, good aeration, and what I always did with a virgin tank was put catfish in first. They are very hardy and will get the cycle started. Most of my tanks never got cleaned, that is completely emptied and started fresh. And many were set up for years at a time. That nice slime layer in your filter is the good stuff. I never got rid of it, just transferred to the new filter element when adding water of replacing the element.

    Hi I have a sunsun 303B with a LW604 pre-filter canister with a similar set up as yours. I have an issue with the sunsun sucking in air and blowing bubbles. I have checked all the connections & hoses and there isn't any air going in from the tank to the pre-filter or from the prefilter to the sunsun. I even covered the nozzles in the adapter that connects the hoses to the sunsun with teflon tape to create and airtight seal and prevent air from entering from there. I also covered the o-ring and rim of the lid with teflon tape in case air was leaking in from there but still air seems to be entering from somewhere. Have you had any experience with this kind of issue and could you guide me on any tips or options I could look into to troubleshoot & resolve this issue. Thanks for your help. Regards Ally

      @superaquatics Před 2 lety

      @@divineaquariums2774 Thanks. Yes I wrapped the tape round several times so that the lid fitted quite snugly. Also checked there is no airstone or bubblers near the intake. Also checked the inflow hose from the tank to the filter with a bright light to see if there are any tiny bubbles flowing through and non there as well. I have a transparent LW 604 prefilter before the water goes to the sunsun and checked that also with a bright light and there are no bubbles in the prefilter or flowing from the prefilter to the sunsun. It has me completely stumped. I will try reopening it and replacing the o-ring and see if it makes a difference.

Its only a temporary fix as I was just trying to see if air was entering from there so will need to find a more permanent and stable solution otherwise will need to keep replacing the teflon tape everytime I service the canister. What kind are you using? In the past I would look at the clarity of the water. With that being said, it depends on the brand thee AquaClear, and Marineland I cleaned once every 1-2 months. That is just rinsing the bio media and sponges in tank water.

    Hi bro, love the video just wondering if you could help me out a little I did a similar set-up as yours I ran the sunsun Hw3000 canister and bought the sunsun 604 pre filter only problem is the 3000 hoses are bigger and the 604 is only 18mm is there an adapter or work around you recommend?

      You should be able to find a reducer at Home Depot or Lowe’s. I would take the hose and the top to the 604 to take out the guess work. You’ll need a reducer that fits the hose on one end and a 18mm hose on the other end. 18mm = 45/64 in or 18mm divide by 25.4 = .70866141732in. I hope this helps!?!?

      I had to make adapters for my setup, I just went to the hardware store and made connections to fit the hoses, my 704's have the larger hoses like your 3000 does

    Purchased the 45g CO2 kit and upgraded two days later to a proper regulator and tank. After doing the math it just doesn't make sense to use these long term

      I use this set up on my tank at work. It’s a Seaclear 50 gallon acrylic with the all in one filter. Since I travel for work and I’m not also there. It easier for my coworkers to replace paint ball CO2 tanks than the larger ones. I apologize if I misled you. Thanks for watching!

    Hi i have a 44gallon, im running a 704b with the eheim prefilter and the 603 booster filter but ive lost alot of flow from my canister any suggestions?

      @divineaquariums2774 Před 3 lety

      You will loose some flow (I did as well). I have poly-fil pillow filler in my prefilters, the SunSun sponges in the 603. The 702b has in the first tray 2 bags of chemipure elite. Second tray seachem matrix, third tray marine pure 1.5 spheres. So in summary try only having carbon and biological media in the 702b. Let me know how it works out! Thanks for watching!

      @@divineaquariums2774 i guess i just wasn't expecting such a big drop in flow. I have the clear 603 filled with the sponges and some rings at the bottom. My 704 is filled with 5kg of biohome and the rings that came with it no sponges. I changed the 704 inlet and outlet for the hw3000's i thought they looked better and the eheim pre filter.

      @@Wavey1-q3f yeah there is a significant drop. But I didn’t mind it because when I first set that tank up I had 6 angels and 6 discus fry in there. So a low flow was ideal for those style of fish.
