    Just got the PC today and the temperatures seem fine to me while running intense games for a decent period of time. The fans are extremely loud while on the "gaming setting" and do cool the system pretty quick but having them on automatic mode is perfect and it keeps the system cool with low noise. For the price, I paid 2500 GPB roughly 3,000$ I would expect to have a heatsink on my ram. Apart from the RAM being low quality, the machine seems decent enough for the price though there may be better options.

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  Před rokem +2

      Yeah if you're playing games that's mainly GPU, so the fans won't ramp up too much. Once you do something more CPU intensive then you'll get the problems

      Tha fans become loud if you set it to gaming mode. But in my experience, I just set it to auto mode. The system is so quiet the the system runs cool. One key takeaway is that the CPU stock cooler is not good enough as my CPU temperature would go up to 90-100C when gaming. I replaced it with a Noctua U12S and my CPU now never gets past 70C. 60C on average when gaming.

I immediately did all the updates, ran the first benchmarks and played Sons of the Forest in 1080p with Ultra settings (the game is not yet optimized). I consistently had 73-77 degrees Celsius on the CPU while playing. Is this normal and okay in the long run? The fans were not too loud, absolutely acceptable in my opinion. So I got this system for $2000 Canadian NEW - full warranty + 1year CC warranty ($1.4K USD or 1.3K Euro) - 3090, 12gen-i7, 32gb ddr5, -- even prebuilt is more expensive currently as of March 2024. so far happy with it. all AAA games on max and GPU only going at 75C max.. using default non-gaming Fan profile. so far after 2 weeks no regrets. The fans only go this loud if you use the 'gaming' profile. which I don't. no problems so far.

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  Před 3 měsíci +1

      You've got the i7 which has a lower TDP than the i9, so it won't need to ramp the fans that much. Also on this, the fans ramp in the non-gaming profile too, plus if you're only gaming the CPU is unlikely to get hot enough to need to ramp the fans anyway.

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  Před 3 měsíci

      It might not suit all 40 series cards though, if I recall it only has two 8-pin PCIe, which wouldn't be enough for the three 8-pin to 12vhpwr adapters that some cards require.
      In terms of upgradability, system integrator prebuilts are a better option as they all use standard parts, so they're automatically upgradable, unlike most OEMs like Dell, Acer, HP Etc.

      Finally the system is perfect, I ran some stress tests for over 20 mins and CPU temp didn't go over 72C with minimum fan RPM (600-700).
      It's a shame that they didn't put the proper cooling at first place and why they designed everything to perfectly prevent you to upgrade it. Otherwise the system is perfect. I use it for intensive simulations that requires 100% CPU usage for hours (+20 hrs) and so far everything is fine.

      This is a bad example of a prebuilt, let alone one from a reputable brand. You could easily build an epic silence focused PC, even on a budget. Most systems will have *some* fan noise because they have better/more cooling capabilities over consoles which run hot because they generally have just one or two fans.

      Out of the box u need to change the CPU cooler with a 240mm Liquid Cooler and then the system is perfect. I bought the Orion 5000 i7 12700 +rtx 3080few weeks ago on sale (1700 GBP) and added a cooler (which is very challenging) and the system is working amazing.
      All the specs are great (the GPU and DDR5 Ram and the 12th gen Intel) the only issue is cooler and it solved with upgrading to Liquid Cooler 240mm so I always have minimum Fan speed.
      Just make sure to get a Cooler compatible with LGA 1700 brackets.

      @@jordanash Yes, I totally agree with you and I only bought that because of the Sale price (agreed with my budget).
      In fact, Acer advertise this as upgradable system, but they have done everything to make sure upgrading be difficult.
      1- They have mounted the motherboard high enough that a standard radiator and fan won't fit. So I had to remove the top tray and use long fan screws to lift the radiator away from the motherboard.
      2- The CPU brackets are slightly different from standard AIO cooler brackets so you need to remove the entire motherboard to change the back brackets completely (or I managed to use some extra parts on the cooler's screws so I didn't remove the motherboard and kept the acer back brackets on).
      After doing all that and adding additional 16gb Ram on the system, I am able to run my MD simulations on the machine for hours with CPU and GPU temp under 65C. The overall system with all the upgrades costed me 1850-GBP which is not a bad price.
      So if someone is willing to spend a bit more, I won't recommend this at all because changing the cooling system is a MUST and it is not that straight forward.

    I've always had bad experiences with Acer. Especially their laptops back in the day. Never the less i decided to buy one of these beasts hoping that Acer would have sorted their short comings out over the years. Of course i was wrong.
    From day one there was a weird drumming sound from the PSU... But i thought fine whatever, maybe it'll sort itself out and "click into gear" eventually. Gamed The Callisto Protocol and the screen went dark. Nothing i would do would make it switch back on again. Turned the PC off by holding in the power button for 5 seconds. Turned it back on and it starts and shuts down, starts and shuts down, starts and shuts down. Luckily the warranty was still viable so i got a refund.
    The PC in therms of power is a powerhouse, i have no complaints about that. But.... It feels like a half built powerhouse. For that amount of money that this beast costs. You are expected to get a quality product. Not some awsome components here and some cheap charlies there. And i do agree with you about the memory sticks and the water cooling and the PSU... These are not places to be cheap on.
    It runs way hotter than it needs, hence i am sure the jumbo-jet fan noises.
    Anyway, as far as i am concerned and this is my opinion only: The Acer Predator 7000 is a cash grab. And an expensive one at that.
    And this was the final nail in the coffin for me with Acer. I will never again purchase or use anything from Acer. Enough is enough.

      Yeah, I was considering this machine but soon as I saw it was ACER I was thinking "the BIOS is going to be custom and minimalistic with preset overclocking options meant for 'rich teen's first gaming PC' so they don't blow up their CPU or fry their expansion slots", I was right. I also thought "They're going to go cheap on the power supply and fans..." and oh look right again. The only good thing about the system is the motherboard and case design, a case designed to support heavy RTX3rd and 4th gen cards with a minimalistic no nonsense motherboard design *and* a rizer cable side slug mounted graphics card? Why the $%^* can't custom boards and cases have this too, instead of ROGROGROGROG crap from ASUS with their questionable BIOS which burns holes in Ryzens or the fragile garbage Gigabyte calls a PCB. Man, can't have anything nice, $%^* these twits.
