This is pure Genesis, Ray Wilson is a brilliant vocalist with amazing emotion in his voice .keith Stent a Genesis fan of fifty years!
It' not puree Genesis, it's pure Mike + The Mechanics. I can hear Paul Carrack singing this instead of Ray Wilson and that's what made "Calling All Stations" less Genesis than all other albums.
Strange, but I can imagine Phil Collins singing "Congo" as well as late Paul Young instead of Ray😮
What a gem this is....superb ray wilson vocals,calling all stations was a real underated album.....seems so long ago now.
If Brian Adams had written & released this it would have gone to number one wordwide NO DOUBT .... its a different Genesis but still bloody brilliant

maybe it's not the old, good Genesis, but you have to admit - this song is very, very good
I admit that to me, Ray is the best singer Genesis ever had... it just did not fitt with the band style :-/ But Ray has some amazing tunes on his own, a very underestimated artist in my opinion. Peace
Silence Will Fall yup, Ray is amazing artist with great voice. i agree that Wilson is an underestimated artist but in my opinion Collins was the best and will always be the face of Genesis, the legend :)

Ray Wilson gave the band a darker more serious sound, they should have done another album
GENESIS was GENESIS with Peter Gabriel and just the 70's and VERY early 80's without him...
Over the last few months I've been listening to this album a great deal and it's full of moving lyrics, great music and epic songs. The video for Not about us is strange but I believe there is a message there about the fallen, despite everything, picking themselves up again, hopefully with some help. We all need help sometimes. We must look out for each other if we can. Calling all stations can bring tears to your eyes with its songs of longing, loss, loneliness, desolation and also hope. A late great album from Genesis.

Criminally underrated song, video and lineup. I'm also guilty: I'm a Genesis fan ever since I can remember, and that's decades ago... and this is the first time I listen to this song.

To me is the last great song from Genesis and the best from their underrated - most "under wanted" - Calling All Stations album. Say what you want but Ray Wilson fitted perfectly to the band.

I don't get all this "comparison" type comments. Each Genesis era had it's own distinct sound. All were great. Music evolves. Would you expect Genesis to sound in the 90's like they did in the 70's? Enjoy the music under it's different faces :)

„Calling All Stations“ is a criminal.underrated album. Well written, great production and Ray Wilson did a fantastic job. You must have balls of steel to fill in for this position. I have seen them on that tour and it was different but great though.

Personally, for me, the best singer Genesis has ever had, and Gabriel is a lot of Gabriel. But within Genesis, Ray is undoubtedly the singer who has transmitted me the most.
They should have continued. I'm sure that once people had got over the initial "oops, it's not Phil Collins" nonsense, this new format would have taken off and would have been very successful too. Sadly, we'll never know.
He had potential back then, Ray had a tone very much like young Gabriel.
Post-Phil Collins genesis is like changing genre completely... Like listening late 90s pop...

he's a really awesome singer. I think that CAS has nothing to do at all in Genesis discography, but, as an independent album, it works very well. It has a very beatiful music.

No se porque se cancelo el proyecto. Pero este Genesis merecía tener cuatro álbumes más.
Being a fan of Ray i got a chance to talk to him over a month ago.He went to the same school has my kids between the age of 6-12 yr old.I asked him if he wrote any of the tracks on CAS album and he stated that this was one of 2 tracks he did write on that album.Cannot for the life of me remember the other track but it was one of the good ones.He is a very talented man indeed.
Muscal chemistry being off was down to the fact they had all the music in place before Ray joined.Mike and Tony both stated that they should have included Ray from the start.Tony wanted to carry on but mike didn't.It was a real shame because his voice fit nicely.He wasn't suited to Collin's songs but he was good at the Gabriel material.
***** There is a video on YT with him singing the old gabriel stuff live at London arena acoustic and it's amazing.Ray was perfect.Both tony and mike played acoustic guitar while ray was just sitting there.The other thing is has with all singers you always compare them to the previous.Phil was lucky.He had been in the band for years before PG left so no one saw him has an outsider.Ray had a very hard job to live up to.
***** You should take a look at his solo stuff.I have about 6 cd's and just maybe he is better doing his own music.I bought his latest Makes me think of home.Look up the title track and then tell me he is not a good singer.But saying that we are each to our own favourites aren't we?Anyways nice talking mate you have a great day.
I think Mike and Tony were jealous of Ray indeed.
Genesis were lucky as a band when Peter left as Phil sounded very similar to him so the transition was seemless. Ray sounds nothing like either so the quintessential sound og Genesis was lost.
How many memories
I loved this track before it became a single, and love the interpretation the video gives it, for me its the idea of mankind has stopped working properly so you reboot it.If only it was that easy
