- This Husqvarna 445 chainsaw hasn't been running its best lately so it's time to clean the carb. See the links below for the parts and tools I used:

What's the carb adjustment tool for, I couldn't find it in the video
@@Piccyman1 The high and low speed jets can only be adjusted with a special tool. If your saw runs good then you don't need to worry about adjusting the jets. If not, Husqvarna recommends turning them both all the way in and then out 1.5 turns. Start the saw and adjust as necessary. There are many good videos online that explain how to get them dialed in just right.
I appreciate the no BS approach. Great video, sir.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! :)
Your attention to editing and clear shots is amazing. Thank you.
@@trailerhater Editing is the most time-consuming part so I'm glad you like it!
Excellent clear video that tells us exactly what we need to know - no more and no less.
That's always my goal, thanks for the comment! :)
Hi Mike, great video on carburetor repair! I found it really informative. Your step-by-step instructions made it easy to follow. I'm really impressed with your knowledge of chainsaws.
Thanks, I appreciate the comment!
Straight to the point with everything we need to know, and excellent close-up pictures. Thanks.
I appreciate the feedback, thanks for watching! :)
Great video! I have had my carb off twice and i still wasn't sure if had reinstalled it correctly. This video cleared up several things I was confused about.
That's great, I'm glad the video was helpful, thanks for the comment! :)
Thanks! I hope that I can rebuild the carburettor on my 445e and make sure any tuning is right!
If I can do it, so can you! :)
Thank you, great video and lots of detail, it really helped me strip the chainsaw down, clean the carb, and put it back together again. I replaced the gaskets and diaphragm. I think the carb is a ZAMA EL37B C1M so I got the kit for that model and it worked great.
I'm glad the video was helpful. Yeah, it's always best to get the rebuild kit for your specific carb rather than for the saw model. Thanks for the comment!
I’m afraid if I try this my saw will never run lol
Hahaha, I know the feeling! Once you do it, you'll realize it wasn't nearly as bad as you thought. Plus, if you somehow completely screw it up, you can always buy a whole new carburetor. :)
I could take it apart....
@@thomasforan5598 Hahaha, yeah, I did have the advantage of video in case I needed to refer back for reassembly. :)
Excellent video
Very good explanation
Thank you! :)
great video. another guy had a 32 minute vid and i thought Ok ***!!! not going to do that. you covered the whole thing very well in one third the time thanks
That's what I strive for, all of the detail with none of the fluff. :)
great tutorial!! you saved my life.. thank you! 👏🏻
I'm glad it was helpful, thanks for the comment! :)
Thak you for your help
Thank you for watching!
Mike attempts. UN video extraordinario!! Gracias
I'm glad you liked it, thanks for the comment! :)
@@Mikeattempts.si estan muy Bien explicados!!
WELL DONE !!!
Thanks! :)
Well done!
Thanks, I appreciate it! :)
Good demonstration.
Thanks! :)
Great vid of the take apart. Walbro carb kits with all the gaskets are only $15. Good to have on hand incase you get it all apart and find any of it bungled up.
That's really good advice. I'd hate to get it all apart and then hafta wait for a rebuild kit, if needed.
Perfect instructions.
Thanks! :)
Thank you, realy well explained
Thanks, I appreciate it! :)
Thanks for posting this video! My saw has been bogging down and cutting off when I give it full throttle-- I suppose I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and give the carburetor a good cleaning.
Hopefully that'll get it running right for you, let me know it goes!
How did it go ??? Did it sort it 🤔
was looking for a video like this not too long back. that "red" fuel from depot I'm guessing has gummed up things a bit. thank you very much 😁👍
That's great, I'm glad the video was helpful, thanks for the comment! :)
@@Mikeattempts its a dry run of what I should see / expect. 8ve watched enough 2vintage videos where pretty much carbs are always done. a couple other steps as well.... but seriously, big thanks
Super vidéo 5 stars
Thank you! :)
Great video! I followed your directions and was able to remove the carburetor on my 445 and clean it, now the saw runs like a striped monkey. P.s._I also replaced the fuel filter. Thank you
That's great, I'm glad to hear the video was helpful, thanks for the comment! :)
Fantastic video. Everyone else wants to buy a new carb and replace it you dealt w the real solution. What if you on the job. What do you do???? Wait till next week or whenever the gods of deliverance decides to send you the new carb????? Or do you tear it apart and fix it?? Anyway, thanks for the video it is first rate. By the by is a weed eater basically the same as far as carbs go???
Thanks! Yeah, if you're careful, you don't even need to buy anything, it just takes a little time. Yep, most "small engine" carbs are very similar. I actually did a video cleaning my weed eater carb ( czcams.com/video/G6noZ99bC4U/video.html ) and my mini-tiller carb ( czcams.com/video/QVYbxnajJd4/video.html ) if you'd like the see the differences. :)
Awesome video! Where did you get the rebuild kit from? Thanks!
I didn't use a rebuild kit because everything was still in good shape. You can pick up a rebuild kit at Amazon or eBay. Thanks for watching!
At 2:56: "Thats what she said." Aaaaaaalllll Riiighhhht...... gigggidddy gigggiittty goo.......NICE
Hahahaha! :)
Excellent detail, better than others.
Curious what year your 435 is. I have a 2015, slightly different but basically the same carburetor.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! :) This is actually a 445 but I'm not sure of the year. I got it for free because it wasn't running.
Thanks, I didn't zoom in enough notice that. It explains the slight differences.
I may ask you if would know why it is so hard when pull the starting rope it has almost injured my harm after so many tries
The chainsaw is an HUSQVARNA 326
I'm no pro so it's hard to say for sure. Does yours have a little decompression button on the top? This makes it easier to pull and then closes itself once the engine starts. On some gas engines, the ignition coil can be installed backwards which causes a very jerky pull but usually they can only be installed in one position. Something could be bound up in the rope mechanism. Or maybe something is wrong inside the cylinder which is causing excess friction. If you're able to figure it out, let me know!
Is this a Walbro or Zama carburetor and which one is better?
I ended up re-using all of the parts, gaskets, and diaphragms so I never did check to see which brand the carb was. I'm no pro but, in my opinion, you can't go wrong with Walbro or Zama. If I needed a replacement, I would go for whichever was easier to find parts for. :)
Thanks for the tip but I don’t think I’m competent enough to do that without destroying it
That's what I thought the first time I did it, but it all worked out. :) The only things you could really destroy would be the diaphragms or gaskets but rebuilt kits are cheap.
Can’t I just use spray carb cleaner without dismantling?
Not really because if it was that easy to flush debris out the carb, the fuel pumping through it while running would keep it clean.
is brake cleaner or electronics cleaner OK
I think brake cleaner is too harsh, I wouldn't use it. Electrical contact cleaner might be alright but I'd get carburetor cleaner, if you can.
I got better luck winning the lottery than doing this right.
Hahaha, it might seem overwhelming but it's really not that bad once you get in there. Plus, if your chainsaw already isn't running, what's the worst that could happen? :)
Be aware these carbs are only $20 on amazon.
That's very true but those are probably aftermarket carbs, not OEM. I think it's interesting to get inside, see how it works, and fix it for free. :)
