  • What Sha'Carri Richardson JUST DID With Track And Field CHANGES EVERYTHING!
After seeing that, are you surprised to find out that the design received backlash? A LOT of it, for that matter. However, both fans AND athletes have had varying opinions about the matter; some criticize the design - and Nike, of course - while others are pretty chill about it.
As many of you are aware, ever since the Norwegian women’s beach handball team turned the fact that they were required to wear “tiny” bikini bottoms for competition into a topic for debate, a quiet revolution has been brewing throughout women’s sports. It’s one that questions received conventions about what female athletes do - or don’t - have to wear to perform at their very best.
This issue encompassed a lot of events including women’s soccer - why white shorts?, gymnastics - why not a unitard rather than a leotard?, field hockey - why a low-cut tank top?, and many more, including track and field. That said, it probably should not have come as a shock to Nike that when it offered a sneak peek of the Team U.S.A. track and field unitard during a Nike Air event in Paris celebrating its Air technology a few days ago, they were met with some less-than-enthusiastic reactions. Mind you, the event also included looks for other Olympic athletes, like Kenya’s track and field team, France’s basketball team and Korea’s break dancing delegation.
For the unveiling, the brand hosted a fashion presentation in Paris at the Palais Brongniart, marking the final countdown to the biggest stage in sports, featuring top athletes such as Jordan Chiles, Serena Williams, Sha'Carri Richardson, and many more.

Not that I totally disagree again women should be able to wear the uniforms they want. But in someone's post in the video they said if these uniforms were beneficial to performance then the men would be wearing them. Obviously we have another person confused about biology. Men and women are built different in many different ways and even if they were able to choose their own uniforms for performance they wouldn't be the same.

Not that different from Olympics past. But if any athlete doesn't like them they should be free to wear any uniform they please with the caveat that it still have you country logo in a certain size and colors are usually uniform to keep athletes straight. Other than than hey run your event in head to toe baggy sweatpants if you want. Of course since you don't want them from Nike then you may have to pay for them yourself or some other funding source. Many of these Olympic sports are not big money makers and if you don't want the companies to sponsor the games you get what you get.

NIKE is a business. They obviously know increased viewership means increased profits. Maybe they should institute these uniforms for the WNBA.
