Thank you for your videos. They are so helpful!
Holy moly! I LOVE the tip about the "thread to the left"!!! I've had so much nicer starts since I started doing this! Why doesn't Bernina tell us these things. You're just the best!! Thank you!
You are welcome
Thank you for yet another information packed video. Cannot tell a lie, I have this foot and have always wondered what to do with all the “extra stuff” in the box. I don’t remember how I stumbled on to your videos but am SOOOO glad I found them.
I love my walking foot! I use it all the time. I also love the knee lift/FHS. I use it on both my 790 and 890 serger.
Thank you for all your videos that are so informative and full of tips and tricks.
Great video, i love my new thread guide
Great to hear!
Definitely picked up new information about the walking foot, thank you
I love the thread guide it works well. Thanks for these videos!
So helpful. I have a Janome, but I always learn something useful. Thank you and keep the videos coming.
I have learned SO MUCH from you just watching your tutorials ❤🧡💛
Oh my gosh!! I have always gotten the bird's nest under my seam when I start sewing on my 1130S. I decided to try putting the threads to the side as you suggested and it worked!!! Thank you so much for this suggestion. I have had this machine for 35 years or so and have always struggled with this. Love your videos!
Thank you, Jeff, for the walking foot maintenance video. A few months ago, late one night, mine was really sticking. I remembered watching your video and referred back to it. My walking foot worked perfect after that. It saved my project!
Thank you for your detailed information on this walking foot. I have a new 770QE and older machines 830, 807 and 1130. Your descriptions are thorough and help me to better operate my machines. I never learned to sew on a FHS but I am certainly going to try to get used to it because I'm missing out on the functionality of it. Thanks again for your awesome videos.
Jeff, thank you again for your videos ! I learn something new EVERY video. You are so kind and your instructions are detailed and simple to understand. Happy 4th
Thank you so much- I just got my Bernina 770 QE and it’s my first Bernina sewing machine! I’m learning so much from your videos- thanks for sharing your knowledge
I learned something new today.
Thanks for the info. I needed to see this video.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the detailed information! I was driving myself nuts thinking I got what I needed an old style walking foot based on seller’s description but nope it was new style! Now I know what to look for.
Ah! Pull the thread to the left! Will give it a go. I despise that thread nest underneath. Thanks again Jeff!
Thank you…awesome❤️❤️
I have a Bernina 930, original owner, I have never used my knee lift in all these years. I'm going to get it our of the case and start using it. Thank you for your instruction/education!
I was told by Sylvain at Bernina Bootcamp that the attachment changed over the years because of the best addition to the Bernina lineup. Needle threader. It was also another way to ensure you don't mix old feet with the newer Berninas that are equipped with the needle threader and you wouldn't damage it by using it because of the clearance.
Just invested in a walking foot and so glad you made this video. You answered a lot of questions I had. Bless you
I used the free hand system on my 1130 so much I wore it out.
I would love to know - how can we clone you Jeff. I learn so much from your fantastic videos. With each video I’m always saying, “My dealer never told me about that.” I cannot thank you enough for sharing your knowledge with us.
Thank you
THANK YOU THANK YOU. I've read in some of the groups I'm in, the back and forth on FHS, walking foot and dual feed. I love my FHS system. Got my 790 a FHS and a walking foot.
You are so welcome!
Hello! Great tutorial! I hope you had a joyful day. I had a lovely day with some talented ladies, sewing and chatting online. Thank you for posting this video and for your time to make this.
Wonderful!
My husband is coming to the states next year and I want to buy all your gadgets.
Hello, Jeff, and thank you for all great information in your various youtube videos. About the change from "wide peg" to "narrow peg" fitment ? I was told that it was when Bernina increased the zig zag width on their older machines from 4 to 5.5 (?) mm - the slot in the older feet was only wide enough for 4, so if you were able to fit the older feet to the newer 5.5mm machines you could have needle crashes. I guess the fitment was changed to prevent you from doing that (and increase the market for newer feet of course ;o) Presumably that applied to the walking foot as well. I know it was changed again to give room for the needle threader in the current version. Not surprising folk get a tad confused !
I have spent the last three days trying to get my walking foot on the machine. I've put it on before after fighting with it and it was dumb luck that made it succeed. Even though I put the model number on my search request (1001) I received information for the new one which absolutely didn't work (doh!). I did get some good information from a Scottish lady (don't know her name) who said to slide it in from the side. That was the one which finally worked. God bless you, Scottish lady! Anyway, I happened to stumble on your video and was flabbergasted that you answered all my questions and I learned about the FHS. I had the machine for about 10 years before I knew what it was, but I didn't know how to work it. I sure will from now on. Thank you, Bernina Jeff, for giving good, usable information!
You are welcome
Love you Jeff! I wrote to you several months ago about replacing my screen due to scratches. You misunderstood my intentions. Haahaa, the other day, I noticed my screen was now peeling! What? I had never taken off the plastic sleeve cover… whew a huge save.
Fantastic!
Does Bernina still make a Walking Foot for 830 Record, the machine from the 70s? Thank you for sharing your talent and skills!
One more question. What is the difference between using the “drop down” walking foot and the walking foot you showed us in this video? I have a 770QE. Thank you.
I was wondering if you have a straight stitch plate for a Bernina B710. I did see one on your Shopify listing.
Thank you for this info .
Can u pls tell me which gathering foot 16 or 16V would fit my Bernina 720 ? Appreciate yr assistance.
Threads always to the left to start, or left or right? I’m a righty, so that’s easier.
I just got a Bernina 830 LE. The FHS leg needs adjusting because it doesn't "sit" downward toward my leg. My Bernina dealer is 2 hours away, and this machine is SO big, if there is any possible way, I'd like to be able to adjust the leg myself. I own 5 different Berninas and a "donor" 180. (I have two 180s). I started using Berninas when I first bought a 1031 in 1993, and I have a hard time not having that FHS leg now.
Also note that the old style walking foot has a black fork while the new style has a silver fork. The fork being the part that slips over the needle clamp.
I just can’t do it., I have tried all day and I am so frustrated. There has to be a better way.
Also Jeff: I’m assuming the walking foot for my 350 QE is usable on my newer 770 QE, right?
I have the 770 and when I put my walking foot on an start sewing the fork falls off. Any suggestions? I have an old Activa 145 and have no problem getting the walking foot on that.
As much as I would want this walking foot for my 770 QE+, the cost is holding me back. For as much as these machines cost, you would think more feet would be included. 😢
Attaching the walking foot was a breeze, but once I start to stitch, the fork on the needle clamp falls off! What can I do to prevent this?
Hi Jeff. I bought the red cap oil container for my 770 and really like it. Trouble is after two uses it isn’t working. I tried putting a pin into each end to see if there was blockage. Still no oil coming out. Any suggestions? Thanks. Love you tutorials, I have learned so much about my machine
I will send you a new tip but a small wire will free up the hole or a strong air compressor let me know jpvlefty@aol.com
Can feed dog problems on a 570QE be fixed from firmware update or is it a mechanical thing?
Still not easy for me.☹️☹️☹️☹️
I have a genome and I can't get the tension right on the top it's it's better But I can't get the red to not show in the back I turned it up to 9 in 1⁄2 9 in more I think But I can't get the back of it to look so much I'm not sure in the rain on the bottom Show me theAlexa
You need to take it to a tech. Debris might be in the tension disks
Please design a pad for the knee lift. It really hurts my knee pushing on it.
I saw someone put a piece of pool noodle on their knee lift.
Yes. A cut piece of pool noodle works great.
Yep!!! Pool noodle!!!
Thanks guys.
Which walking foot for Bernina 1008 please ?
Old style
Thank you
