I still love the Sonny and Cher version. It's so nostalgic and cute and emblematic of the time. But I really love this version too. Chrissie and UB40 are also nostalgic for me and emblematic of another important time in my life. I love their voices and I am a really big fan of reggae and reggae-tinged music. If I could only listen to one version going forward I think I would choose this one.

This song came out when reggae songs were very scarce, It revived reggae as there was alot of reggae songs on the charts after this one.

I will have to admit that this was an excellent cover of Sonny and Cher's signature song. This was Cher's first #1 hit in the U.S. Cher was 18/19 years old when it was recorded. Sonny wrote the lyrics and arranged the music. Sonny was a prolific songwriter. Sonny was eleven years older when they got married. Cher had just turned 18. They were married for 10 years. To choose which one is better is a bit tough. Chrissie and UB 40's cover has it's merits and it will definitely be entering into my playlist along with the original, but I will have to say that Sonny and Cher's version is the winner here. Where Chrissie and Ali Campbell have excellent vocals, Sonny and Cher put the love and heart into the song.

This is a nice cover, but I am still waiting patiently for some love for the band Glorious Sons. They dominated the airwaves for a couple of years up here in the Great white North and no one I repeat job one gives them any play on this platform. Everything is Alright caught my ear and got me onto this band. I can't pay but I would love if you could play it.

Sonny and Cher win in my book! Of course he wrote it for Cher, so it is THEIR song! It is also my husband and my song. I grew up with Sonny and Cher and they were the IT couple! :) I've never heard this version, but it has to be sung in a nasally Sonny and Cher way for it to be "right" for me! :)

Yeah I mean the original is classic of course it won't be budged. But I love this version, It has more nostalgia in my case cause it's from my musical era growing up and I'm a fan of UB40. It's a shame Cher can't sing anymore after all that facial work (Sorry lol)
