  • On this episode of Wolf Ridge Woodworking, I make a quick holiday or really, any occasion gift. Cheese boards are really quick and easy to make. There are many different designs and in this video, I show how to make on with a handle. At the end of the video I show a couple of boards without handles.
    I hope you enjoy this video. Please let me know if there is a project you'd like to see me make and I will do my best to do it. Thank you for all the support you have shown me and the channel!

    Those came out super nice, what I read below with using a leather strap was a good idea also. We just finished 2 boards ourselves for gifts, our polsihing/rejuvinating finishing paste worked real well also.

    Ed, love the cutting boards. Nice change from the turning. Didn’t realize you had all the machinery. Jealous until I saw the CNC. Then I was really jealous. Have logo burning issues as well.
    How about a leather string to hang those beauties up?
    Keep up the great work!

    Hi Ed... lovely cutting boards.... 2 for the work of 1 is always good ... I also enjoy making cutting boards... usually the laminated version... walnut is not so easy to buy here in the UK... very expensive... I really like your lasered logo ... it just makes the product look very professional... great video... take care...All the best.....Andy

    I love the texture and color of the timber, regardless if it is turned or not. Noticed the Ryobi trim router. Good one. Just got one for Fathers day from my daughter. Damn wish I got one sooner. Nostalgic sound of the Laser CNC. Mine broke down about a year ago and haven't had it working since. You have inspired me to pull my finger out, and get on with it. Love your work. Rob

    Nice Ed! 👍 I always use Hazelnut coffee grounds mainly because is can’t stand the taste of it 😂🤣. I go nuts on my Charcuterie boards, dry sand 120-1,000 then soak overnight in my diy mineral & orange oil bath then oil sand 1,200-12,000 grit.

    I am always at odds with adding my logo/names on things. On something like that I would have put it on the very corner or on the side where’s it not so obvious but still on the piece. Very nice boards.

    • @WolfRidgeWoodworking
      @WolfRidgeWoodworking  Před rokem

      I don't disagree with you on the placement of the logo. While there isn't really a back or front on these, the cutting/serving side will be the side without the logo. - Ed

    Those are fantastic Ed. I'm actually glad you're expanding out of the turning. I guess mainly as I haven't turned in many months and am trying to get back into the small crafts stuff again. I feel the older I get, my tools are going to waste sticking to just one venue. Also I'm tired or busting my butt to turn out bowls to just have warp and crack. I can't outlive green wood waiting for it to dry. Keep up the flat boarding for awhile.

    • @WolfRidgeWoodworking
      @WolfRidgeWoodworking  Před 3 lety

      Thank you Paul! It was so hot and dry this summer here in Arizona, all my wood dried out super quick. If you can pick up an old used fridge, you can build this czcams.com/video/7fVLWCPgyNM/video.html . Something like that might help you out brother. - Ed

      Without even looking at that link, I know how its done. I just don't have the room or time. I do microwave small items when I did pens. That worked pretty good. But I haven't done pens in a long time. Lots of wood and kits left over, I just got tired of doing them. I love bowls and lidded boxes if only the wood was stable.
      Thanks for the reply, and thanks for the videos. Keep up the great work.
      I did 4, one chamber bat houses and I can't even sell them. But I did sell a 4 chamber to a local farmer. He loved it.

      @WolfRidgeWoodworking  Před rokem

      Thank you David! For the wood, stick with closed grain wood like Maple and Walnut. You want to stay away from some of the exotic woods for cutting boards. For the length and width, it really depends on what you decide, but you will want to go with 4/4 or 6/4 for the thickness. - Ed

    Don't use resin for cheeseboards - cheese ist fat and will take chemical softeners in from the resin. Not healthy!
    BTW: you could produce a lot of paddles for domestic use, too - seeing this cheeseboard it instantly reminded me
    of ' a trip to the woodshed'... ;-)
