It actually common on Linux world. Android uses Linux kernel which is usually provided by manufacturers. "Extended RAM" just uses the ZRAM that generates a single swap file loaded on a specific system directory. Now, when it comes to support, it really depends on the manufacturers. And "Extended RAM" defeats the purpose for budget to mid tier phones, and you we're right that it will consumes more battery & storage, as the chipset or the CPU would bottleneck the system if pushing too hard on the "Extended RAM" capacity, so i recommend disabling it or set it into minimum (2GB or 4GB)
Is it okay if turn it on and set it to 4gb? My default ram is 4gb will it improve the performance of my phone?
@@EuanYounglVIt's pretty much worthless. Pretty sure it's a way to make customers to believe the device is better than it actually is.
Take a tequila shot every time Miguel says 'RAM" 😂
I've used 12 GB of extended RAM on One Plus Phone, and trust me it does work and you instantly feel the difference once the phone restarts with the extended RAM. However, i turned it off because of excessive battery consumption- It was too much! My battery was getting drained to 20% within 6-7 hours of moderate usage!
Does it like fully reset the phone??
Supposedly, Virtual RAM is more beneficial for devices with smaller amounts of RAM. (4GB or lower)
But on devices with 6GB/8GB of RAM or higher, it's useless. And in some cases, actually IMPEDES performance.
This mainly applies to Samsung phones/tablets. RAM Plus is somewhat polarizing for a lot of people who have one, the other, or both.
Some say it's actually pretty useful, while others say it makes everything run slower than if it wasn't on.
soooo should i turn it off?? i've been noticing lags
Thank you po
available for redmi a1
I bought a cheap phone with 3GB RAM and a promise of additional 3GB extended RAM. The heck. This technology is nothing but a gimmick. A scam! Virtual RAM dont work!
Is it?
What model?
What model?
It doesn't make your phone faster and only allows you to run heavier apps, but like I said it won't make it faster.
What the phone called??? So we can identify it.... Not about how bad the smartphone is....
2:30 what game is that?!

Thank you for the info. I have a Redmi Note 11 pro + 5G with 8 gb ram and extension of 5 virtual ram.
so did you turn it off?
@@tteoktteoktteokbokki I am using the extra 5 virtual ram.
@@eldave9261 do you experience some issues?
@@eldave9261 you can turn it off since you already have 8GB of RAM.
While it may improve multitasking, singletasking apps or games that see much more ram available to them now and actually start using it over the actual ram limit, grind to a horrible halt with extended ram enabled, so your entire phone freezes over and you need to hard reboot it. Like when you have 4GB(actual)+4GB(extended) RAM and some game decides to start using 6GB RAM, it's game over, while with just having 4GB available, it would run normally.
I dunno man, I started playing Zenless Zone Zero with my 8gb S23U, which requires a minimum of 8gb of RAM. I was running into problems where things in the background kept closing on me and trying to restart (such as Samsung Health and even One UI Launcher would close) and the phone would crash back to home and have to restart everything. I re-enable RAM Plus at 2gb, and everything has been butter smooth since. My stuff stays open in the background, and game performance has improved with no more stuttering. Take from that what you will, but I'm taking it as a win.
My tab has 4gb plus 3gb Ram it helps though
Should I turn on virtual Ram or off
Turn it off
very helpful
others say that it's better to turn off this function for gaming
it's better to disable it if you have 6 or 8gb of ram
U are absolutely right - YES! especially if u have 6gb ram!
I have 8gb ram..but whenever I open recent tabs it always showed as 1.8Gb remaining even though I had minimal CZcams or WhatsApp..system always used 5 to 6GB...do I turn virtual on?
What if you have 12
@@legacygaminginc.then u need it even less
@@vishalm3768RAM should always be in use- any RAM not in use is wasted space.
Can personal computers 🤔 also be extended without physical upgrade?
I used to do that on Win Xp by converting disk space or even flash drives.
Yes, it is called memory swapping (in Linux) or paging (in Windows). The technology was invented in 60s and today is used by the OS by default. In other words: pc ram memory is already extended without physical upgrade.
Present 🙋
This is correct but You also need faster storage for better performance. i.e. UFS 3.1 storage Virtual ram Would Be Faster than UFS 3.0 Virtual ram. ✌️
Correct sir!
My eyes just love him 😅😅😅😅
Pogieeee sige naaah
We could just download more RAM. Look it up! 🤫
This future released i think May 2014 with 3rd apps on root devices for Samsung, LG phones and tested by me...
Maked many times benchs with Antutu and Geekbench mobile app the POCO X5 Pro 5G on last dates with stock memory 8gb to expand +2 +4 +5gb
All results is bad except 2-3 test. With stock ram working better!
If u have phone with 6gb DON'T TOUCH to expand VRAM!
Before, Miguel's looks don't match the way he speaks, even his movements looks forced or awkward. Hence, he sounded and felt a bit boring to watch.
But now, I can see a big improvement. He looks great and the looks & voice match his movements well and don't look as forced and awkward anymore.
Yey.
PHILIPPINE CZcamsRS CALLED THIS JUST A MYTH 🤬😡 FOR ME, ENGINEERS DID THIS SCIENCE FOR ALL, NOT THOSE CZcamsRS WHO JUST FOLLOW OTHERS CONTENT LOL 🤣
Hahaha fr
actually it's just a hype. marketing strategy to a better selling point. there's always a pros and cons to this.
it's a scam feature.
Don't connect to wifi networks.. they ruin your phone so you'll go off and purchase another
What? Plz explain.
I'm using a Redmagic 8pro wit 16 gigs of ram and 10 gigs of extended ram
Extend ram don't need
It doesn't work
Useless for me
You did not explained anything. Saying some random technical words does not make an explanation
Do you even understand English 😂
