We have a Jandy three way valve for a single skimmer and single side wall main drain. Our pump is uphill a bit from the pool and priming is a PITA especially for the main drain for some reason. This year I purchased a submersible pump to take the water below the MD to save the headache and to pump out the excess over the winter. Good vid, your pool, pump house, backyard, and view all look incredible!
Do you think that I can learn how to open a pool in two weeks and start offering pool opening for clients at the beginning of this season (mid April)? I never opened neither maintained a pool before but the demand for this type of service in extremely high in my area! Where should I go to learn everything that I need?
Opening your own pool is pretty easy. Pretty straightforward. Something’s are a little weird like recharging a de filter back up based on the size like if it’s a 60 or 48. But this guy said use a multi port and put it on waste as if everybody has a multiport valve. All sand filters do and some de filters do and cartridge filters do not have one. De filters have a push pull valve and you could just pull up on it and leave it on backwash to drain the pool. And for a cartridge filter you can only hope someone already has a set up where the drain plug sits on the filter where they have a ball valve and an end where the hose goes. Or you could just run the pump with the drain plug off but depending on whatever is around it’s gonna get soaked. But the fastest way is to just use a trash pump 3 inch inlet and outlet.
When draining a pool you should only use the waste or drain setting on a sand filter. Using the backwash setting to drain will make you lose sand. Also I never drain a pool lower than the shallow end of the pool unless you are 100% sure your ground water is lower than the pool to prevent the pool from popping out of the ground.

I've seen videos where it shows you shouldn't drain a whole pool by backwashing. Any thoughts on this

Appreciate the video, but the constant "crackling" of the mic...makes it unwatchable. Sorry. :)
