I have been interested in this cold case since watching the movie
Footsteps in the snow. The movie is based on this cold case and it is excellent. I have researched this case heavily almost to the point of obsession. If you have any doubt that John Tessier is guilty i urge you to watch the original police interviews that were conducted just before he was charged . They are readily accesible on the internet.
Believe you me the police have their man but it happened so long ago and the original police mishandled the crime scene and pretty much the whole investigation. His parents both knew he did it straight away and covered his tracks and alibied him.
He is an evil sick man.

Shane on that other channel creator for calling folks who pay a higher price to watch YT without commercials. That other channel has the choice to not use YT if he hates YT viewers. Patreon, the name alone sounds pretentious. Jmo.

I thought he was guilty until I watched the interrogation. Perhaps because I work in law enforcement I wanted to kick the detective in the blue shirt in the balls. They need to show that at academies as an example of how not to conduct an interview. I was more convinced of his innocence after reading the book.

I was born in Sycamore and grew up in a small town nearby. I was 11 when Maria was kidnapped, likely raped, then murdered. I was surprised in 2011 when an arrest mas made, then pleased in 2012 when McCullough was convicted, finally solving the case that has haunted Sycamore and the surrounding community for decades.
Then I started studying the case. In 2015 the discovery files were released from a gag order that had kept them from the public. I have all 4500 pages of discovery, as well as all the transcripts. In 2015 I started putting it all together and wrote a book in which my coauthor Jeff Doty and I spelled out the actual facts, and put forth our opinion that McCullough is innocent. It is physically impossible for McCullough to have committed this crime.
Which book did you read that helped convince you? My coauthor wrote Piggyback in 2013 in which he became the first to publicly state a belief in McCullough's innocence. In June of 2020 he and I published A Convenient Man on Amazon, which not only declares McCullough's innocence, but tells the story of how investigators and prosecutors managed to convict an innocent man.

@@redneckgirl3326 The interrogator in the blue shirt was David Zulawski, a professional interviewer/interrogator. He’s co-owner of a company in Downer’s Grove Illinois that trains cops and others in interview techniques. He was brought in to handle the interrogation of McCullough because he was an ex-cop and was likely familiar with interview techniques. In A Convenient Man we have an entire chapter dedicated to the Statement of Probable Cause used to secure an arrest warrant. This is followed by three chapters dedicated to chronicling and analyzing the interrogation.

Rockford was just between where Maria was abducted and where her body was found in Woodbine so it looks like he made the call for an alibi. His mother never mentioned anything about collecting him in Rockfort. .

Yet he was with two USAF recruiters at the time of the kidnapping. Funny how two of his sisters heard the alleged deathbed confession. Yet one heard the mother say, "He did it," but didn't say who or what. The sister who had issues with him came up with what the mother was talking about.

There is one thing that she didn't mention. It's possible that she was taken by him but didn't kill her. I don't know. It's creepy and I don't know why I watched it. Eye witness testimonies while good are not always reliable. She was shown a lot of pictures as an 8 year old. How was she supposed to keep things straight? She did the right thing though. She told the family. Also, she showed common sense not to respond to the enticement. The man stayed with her while waiting for Maria. Nothing against Maria. She didn't know any better. Just strange and suggests to me Maria was the original target or the man was turned on by her responses and it became a crime of opportunity.

I love the presentation but you should really do some more research on this case there are a lot of factually inaccurate things that you say in this video, first off his mother was not his alibi to begin with and he was ruled out by the FBI in the 1950s as his alibi was in controvertible. He seems like a disgusting POS but he is innocent of this crime and was granted a finding of actual innocence.
