Lyrics:
He wakes up in the morning
Does his teeth bite to eat and he's rolling
Never changes a thing
The week ends the week begins
She thinks, we look at each other
Wondering what the other is thinking
But we never say a thing
These crimes between us grow deeper
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
Goes to visit his mommy
She feeds him well his concerns
He forgets them
And remembers being small
Playing under the table and dreaming
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
Driving in on this highway
All these cars end up on the sidewalk
People in every direction
No words exchanged
No time to exchange
And all the little ants are marching
Red and black antennas waving
They all do it the same
They all do it the same way
Candyman tempting the thoughts of a
Sweet tooth tortured by the weight loss
Program cutting the corners
Loose end, loose end, cut, cut
On the fence, could not to offend
Cut, cut, cut, cut
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
Lights down, you up and die - Hudba
Crowd killed their part
Crowd was tight-gives ya faith!
My lord, this is just the perfect live band...you can see the joy they get in playing their music, with each other, for others to enjoy. Simply magical.
Yes, the joy. Pure unadulterated joy!
Best live version of this song
100%
Hands down! Saw them in concert 2 years ago! Was absolutely spectacular!🥰🥰🥰
@@melissahadjis1235 Saw them live Red Rocks 1999, EPIC
For sure. Hits the high notes perfectly. Everybody in the band seems into it.
Agreed. Many versions of it but this one tops the list.
This is the DMB that I known to love. Roi belting out those perfectly pitched notes, Boyd looking like he just stepped out of some S&M stuff with his dreds flying everywhere. The Central Park concert mix is top notch
Ha. 👍
Just turned 60. Love this song as much now as I did at 30. Takes me back to times when Rock & Roll had horns fiddles and meaningful lyrics. Band pours their heart and soul into this , that's why it's timeless. Rock on DMB....
I am in this dvd and got to be about 20 feet from the stage. We got there at 7am and waited, the line cheered when port-a-potties pulled up. I will never forget that night. I was also lucky to be at the 12/21/02 show, JAMES BROWN BABY. DMB4Life
4:11 the level of musical joy is amazing...
One of my favorite parts of any live show I've ever seen. The camera work and crowd going crazy makes it even better
Around 3:15 when Boyd and LeRoi's sound begins to melt into one for a few seconds. Incredible. Time is a cruel mistress.
I LOVE Carter going into a double-time beat there, it’s one of my favorite parts of this being performed live
I don't think I've ever seen Carter Beauford not smiling. Everything about him and this band is infectious.
The drummer for Dave Matthews is arguably one of the best drummers ever. change my mind
Neil Peart.. John Bonham.. Keith Moon.. Ringo Starr.. Dave Grohl.. Don Henley.. Charlie Watts... Mick Fleetwood.. Taylor Hawkins... Max Weinberg.. I mean, how many more should I name??
I'm back.. Steve Smith.. Carmine Appice.. Steve Gadd... Buddy Rich
@@user-hw2wt4qf2j Danny Carey from tool but yeah this due is amazing
@@user-hw2wt4qf2jStarr is not better than Beauford
It’s also just hard to say best drummer, are we ignoring genres or…?
Best version of Ants Marching, live or studio.
Live will always be better !
Love all the concert albums but imo central is the best
You’re a dumbass if you think that
the crowd passed the vibe check
Best drummer of all time
He starts off well above most live drummers and one and a half minute in he increases his level to "perfect studio quality" and then by the violin solo he just lifts the whole of New York that will stand above the rest of the world for that moment. You can follow the changes in his face ;)
@@Ahldor I agree very much. I used to be able to play the whole song, but fell behind a bit. That's why he is the best, and the happiest one of them all!
4:07
Absolutely
How about no
@@liamburns4475 how about yes
The production team did a stellar job capturing this.
Amen to that!!!
I love that all of the band gets equal camera time at DMB shows.
best executed jam session ever
Probably one of the best songs of DMB in terms of lyrics and melody. Also, epic version, full of energy, band enthusiasm and great audience. The feeling they transmit by playing with that joy in their faces is contagious.
Carter is such a criminally underrated drummer
the man's highly regarded ever since wtf u on about?
Absolutely!!! I CRINGE when a cover band attempts to play this song...the talent to pull it off is very rare.
He’s freakin amazing
Carter always having the time of his life gives me life
I was feeling pretty tired and down this morning and then I listened a few songs from the Central Park show and i feel so good right now! Ready to take on the world. Much love everybody. Thanks DMB.
Just made my night 😍🤙🏾. RIP LeRoi
After The Dead, who was my first love, you can't beat ' em...everybody just LOVES being there.
look at how fun they are having!
If I was stranded on an island for the rest of my life and had a choice of one song, I would choose this version of Ants Marching.
It’s the song that’s going to age the greatest. I don’t think human beings have caught up yet. We’re all 🐜 s
My favorite "Ants Marching", I think it is his Best.....
pure magic at the end just look at their smiles!
And the guy can dance!❤
❤yes he can and so freaking hot
Love his fancy footwork, dang they are not only genius musicians, damn hard working athlete's!! Rock on!!
Carter’s outro is so good
The only concert I wish I never missed. ❤
Happily waited on line for hours to see this show and Dave’s happy feet. One of the best nights of my life. Now I watch my beloved city burn.
Laurie D. Super jealous. I saw them a bunch live but this has gotta be the best I think they ever sounded.
I LOVE DAVE AND THIS BAND SO, SO MUCH
My favorite DMB concert EVER!
Dave’s happy feet🥰. DMB played their hearts out in Central Park and I am so grateful I was there.

What a fantastic sounding band. So tight.
Absolutely without a doubt magical.
Seen them 3 times and Dave in his own once. They remain one if the best live acts I've ever seen.

Nothing like amazing latent. Each and every one of them are amazing !
4:24 I felt that
That guys fossil watch totally hits me in the 90s feels.
Just saw Dave, Tim and the crew in South Africa. Magic stuff! Crushed it. Thank you for the music!
Carter is always on point 👍
I hope we get back to enjoying live wonderful music and togetherness again some day soon. I really miss hearing live music with a bunch of strangers all with one heartbeat. 💯 #Goodoledays #BeforeCovid
I was there. It was magical.
Great musicians but man that smiling drummer is awesome
Drummer is the bomb!
Got to see him a few weeks ago at Forest Hills. The joy, the rain, the music.
Aside from this totally phenomenal band - the camera work and editing is outstanding in this video!!!! 💖⭐️
Absolutely the most awesome man
💞💞💞💞🧜♀️🧚♀️🧜♀️💞🦋
Takes me to a whole new world! The feeling you give me whenever i hear your songs!
This is life ❤️
One of the baddest drummers ever.
Iconic concert
My college days. Thanks DMB. I got a lot of action while listening to you guys in the background.
Sure you did
2:30, remember when we had to call the other person so they can hear the song live.
God we are so old
Phenomenal
❤❤❤i freaking love this!!! I graduated hs 98' and loved the #davemathewsband
Hadn't seen NYC show, seen dmb 6x at gorge and Vancouver, this is a gr8 show. I miss live music. I won't take it for granted again. All along..., is the best in this show
keep it up dave
Hells YESSSS!
This gives me so much joy and memories^i^ The Best!
I listen to this daily because it’s so uplifting!
He wakes up in the morning
Does his teeth, bite to eat and he's rolling
Never changes a thing
The week ends, the week begins
She thinks, we look at each other
Wondering what the other is thinking
But we never say a thing
And these crimes between us grow deeper
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
Goes to visit his mommy
She feeds him well his concerns he forgets them
And remembers being small
Playing under the table and dreaming
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
Driving along this highway
All these cars and upon the sidewalk
People in every direction
No words exchanged, no time to exchange
When all the little ants are marching
Red and black antennae waving
They all do it the same
They all do it the same way
Candyman tempting the thoughts of a sweet tooth
Tortured by weight loss
Program cutting corners
Loose end, loose end
Cut, cut on the fence not to offend
Cut, cut, cut ,cut
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
Lights down you up and die
🎶💜
When the song isn't 12 minutes long, you know it's not a closer.
I💖this band
There's Carter and then there's all the other drummers just trying to do it like Carter. Best drummah evah.
I wonder when they first started letting the crowd sing that one part.
Omg!!!!
Anyone else crying ?
I used to play Harvest Moon to this song.
Back when people actually enjoyed concerts and you didn’t see a million phones in the air
So true
What's so bad about wanting to record the memory
I can't wait for the days when we stop seeing the same old "these damn kids and their techno-ology" comments over and over again under concert videos
@@h0lly_blue ikr how does owning a phone actually take away from the concert
Peck my eyes out it takes away because it’s sad that people will literally stare at their phone for the whole concert recording and taking pictures and they miss the actual moment. Recording a little bit or taking a few pics is fine but when you’re recording non stop and not even watching there’s a problem.
Better than the studio version IMO.
Rip Michael ray skinner jr. Brought me here
Just missing the "thank you very much" when the song's over but I'm not mad
This is one of me and a certain someone's songs 💙💜💚😎
I love Tom Hanks voice
3:21 Boyd's violin solo is simply amazing holy damn.
Ants marching, man, ants marching❤❤❤
Greatest rock song/live performance I've ever heard/seen. I'm 62 & been seeing live shows since 1972.
thank you, raeford
Place them in a box.... Dmb saved my life
For Rogerry …My fav “Ant Marching !” 😎😇❤️😘
Damn Blade hunts vampires and plays a meeeean fiddle!
Carter rocks and Dave’s happy feet. Too bad about Boyd
NEED BOYD BACK
I know right!
YES!!!
Billy if I'm gone just a prayer there
Back when music meant something.

wow.
When the audience knows the lyrics better than you, that's something, baby.
What year was this performance? I don't see the crowd littered with cellphone cameras.
I just keep watching 1:58 to 3:10 on loop
3:25 Dave: Check this sh*t out bruv….
