    Thanks for the information. I use carrot seed oil in a lot of my face products didn't realize it had SPF of 30 that's a bonus. Thank you...

    Very interesting have never tried this but I am thinking of making some up for burns should be very helpful. When I was welding if one of us got burned we would put oil on them as soon as it happened and there would be very little pain

    Hello,I am wondering since zinc is known not able to be absorbed the
    skin,wouldn't the combination of the shea butter and coconut oil mixed
    with the zinc make it possible to be carried into the skin because of
    they both are acts as moisturizers?
    Thanks,
    Hank

      Hi, late reply coz just found this in 2021. We have three layers of skin, organic oils Shea butter ect go deep into the dermis but the zinc dosent penetrate that deep, it's stayed on the top layer. 🙂

    How do you really know for sure how much SPF are in these oils? They seem to vary in different articles that I've read which has made me leery of using them in full assurance that they really do protect.

      1Tbsp Zinc Oxide = SPF 10
      2Tbsp Zinc Oxide = SPF20
      And so on

    There is no documented study showing that carrot seed oil has spf 30. I couldn't find any reliable study anywhere on this. Buyers beware.

    What about storing the sunscreen bars in a jar would they melt in a warm to hot climate?

    • @TraditionalLiving
      @TraditionalLiving  Před 5 lety

      good point. they will be fine at room temperature but if you're concerned about hot weather outside I'd add more beeswax or cocoa butter. it will definitely melt quite a bit if left out in a hot car. Or make sure to use airtight container

    Can you tell me where to buy zinc oxide? thank you

  • @natashagreen-chillaxedprod7769

    When I was young I put baby oil on me and I burned n looked like a tomato, also if I don’t wash my Massage relaxation blend off in the morning I actually burn a bit on my arms, if your not adding water to the jar one then it’s a body butter not a lotion

      Natasha Green yeah, we used baby oil and iodine to sun tan in the 80s. Lol Prob not a safe activity. Def burned the first time, tanned after that. Baby oil is a def no no
      Lol

    So the lotion isn't water proof?

    • @TraditionalLiving
      @TraditionalLiving  Před 9 lety

      darcy031685 semi-waterproof. Oils do provide a barrier but once they get absorbed into your skin the waterproof layer is basically gone.

    • @Straightbangin1979
      @Straightbangin1979 Před 9 lety

      darcy031685 add emulsifying wax or bees wax to make it more water resistant

    Making DIY sunscreen is a terrible idea. Without lab testing how can you possibly guarantee the SPF or stability of this 'sunscreen'? This tutorial is irresponsible and dangerous. 😡Please do some research before posting recipes such as this one. And to anyone thinking of following this recipe...just don't! There are plenty of natural sunscreens on the market that have been safety assessed. It really is not worth the risk.
