- Kangvai village of Manipur that falls in between the districts of Bishnupur and Churachandpur has sadly turned into a ghost town. The inhabitants have deserted the village owing to violent attacks since May 3. Properties have been vandalised, looted and set ablaze. The villagers have taken refuge in relief camps. Some have sought refuge in the camps of Imphal and Bishnupur, and the others have taken shelter in the the relief camps of Churachandpur. Kangvai stands as a testament to the hatred, intolerance, and animosity that has become Manipur's reality.

I was in Kangvai 5 days before violence erupted. It is a very peaceful and serene place with clean air and little noise pollution. I felt like I stepped inside a Studio Ghibli movie to be honest.
An old friend had settled in the village and she was urging me to move there. I was charmed and was contemplating her words.
Little did we know, that visit was to be my last for a long time.
This video pains my heart as I could see the destruction of the place I fell in love with.

Kangvai is a Kuki village.. some decades back the meiteis asked the then chief of the village (the present chief's father) permission to settle and the chief big hearted as we are allowed them to settle in his land without charging any penny. And now this is how they repaid his kind gesture
That does not look like hilly region though.

Through your reporting, you have not only conveyed the tale of destruction and the scale of violence that occured at Kangvai, but also the emotions of pain, anguish, suffering and hope in a very subtle way. All this might have happened in a fit of rage and sudden burst of anger, I believe which have now spiralled beyond imagination. I still believe both communities will reconcile one day and live together as one if we open our hearts and look at the other side through gentler eyes. Keep up the good work!

I appreciate NTT n request to go imphal valley where, Haokip Veng, Khongsai veng, new lambulane, Chassad Avenue, Canaan veng, langol, National gam village, paite veng, vengnom mantriphukhr, and othe kuki Veng which where burnt down on 3rd may 2023 for covering the Veng, because we don't know the situation of our Veng(area) in imphal.
