Yesterday, mainstream media reported that 3 meiteis were killed by the kukis. The reports seem to suggest as if kukis took the initiative. It was the meiteis who attacked the kuki village and burnt it down. They took captive of the tribals, but released them all except one who admitted that he was a kuki, after knowing most were Koms who were considered more akin to nagas. That kuki was David Thiek who was not only killed but his body dismembered and burnt and his head was put on a fence. Because of this atrocity that kuki volunteers retaliated. Some reports said that not only three, but about 20 meiteis were neutralised. All recent incidents happened inside the tribal areas which show that violence continued because of the meiteis who attempted to attack tribal villages.
