      lol facts. The 2085’s suck ass. I jammed a true 1/5th servo in in another video.

    you can buy a metal gear set off ebay for the 2085.. $30. I already bought the 2085X but keeping old one as spare.

      Nice but the 2085X also has more torque 👍

    Ya I don't know if it's a lot more powerful but hoping it lasts longer than the original servo...can't believe Traxxas used plastic gears in a servo for a Xmaxx. But they gotta sell upgrades...right!!!

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  Před 2 lety

      It is more powerful, but it still sucks. I’ve gone through 2 of these garbage 2085X servos in 4 months. They are weak and expensive. I’ll be getting an $80 PowerHobby 1/5th servo soon and making an install video on that. SUBSCRIBE!!!

      @@joshsrcs did u make a video with power hobby servo?

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, if you look at the newer videos of my Talion, there is a PowerHobby 400MG servo in there. It is an amazing and powerful servo. I haven’t gotten the XMaxx servo replacement yet because I just haven’t gotten to it. It won’t be a PowerHobby one anyways because PowerHD makes a stronger and smaller 1/5th servo. SUBSCRIBE!!!

    Hi Josh, how is ur xmaxx? I just got the exact same one yesterday(same Color love the mean green) what kinda basher are you? High jumps and such? Or just mild basher? Off road and some small jumps? I also hear allot of stories about stripped pinions/spurs. Good to hear you havent. Besides the servo, do you have any tips or recomendations?

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  Před 2 lety

      Hi Michiel, the XMaxx is doing fine. You’ll see that I’m a decently hard basher if you look at some of my other videos. I recommend going through my XMAXX playlist and looking at the newer videos. Best upgrades are RPM hubs and upper and lower A-Arms on the rear and Traxxas HD A-Arms on the front. Also make sure to get RPM hinge pins at least for the rear hubs because the stock ones always fall out and are a huge pain. I recommend getting some Atomic RC front caster blocks and hubs because the stock ones always break. Watch the vid I have on installing this servo because it has a hack in it on keeping the servo saver tight. Put hot glue on the front and rear shock towers where the fins are by the diffs. Put some thick duct tape on the skid plates because it will save them. HobbyWing MAX6 is a great ESC with tons more power than stock. If you go with the HW MAX6 get EC5 connectors and some PowerHobby 4s batteries because they are the best. Eventually get into all the diffs and add some 200k weight Diff oil for better handling and lubrication. Duratrax Six Pack X with 24mm hexes are great tires. If your spur or pinion ever goes out get Robinson Racing because they are the best for gears. ALWAYS make sure the internal gears are greased! That’s about all I’ve got. Thanks for commenting. SUBSCRIBE!!! Merry Christmas!

    What size screw and nut/nyloc did you use to install the upgraded servo spring?

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  Před 2 lety

      I really don’t remember all that well, but I know the screw was a 2.5mm hex and it was about 1” long and the nut would go along with that. I hope that helps a little.

    What is the part number for the longer screw needed for Kevin Talbots longer screw modification? Need to know which exact screw and nut to get.

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  Před 3 lety

      I have absolutely no idea what the part number is. Sorry. I just found an extra screw in my Slash 4X4 screw box.

    • @Povell81

      It is an M3x16mm screw with an M3 nylon nut.

    I got a question for you i just installed the 2085x and noticed that i cant turn the wheels by hand like the old servo was wondering if this is normal it seems to work really well just cant turn manually like the original

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  Před 3 lety

      That’s odd. Make sure there is no binding anywhere. The 2085X I thought was a lot easier to turn by hand. If you are really serious about it and you don’t want anything to happen to it down the road I’d say just take the 2085X out, grease the gears, and waterproof the servo with silicone grease. Honestly I have no idea other than it could just be binding in the mechanical parts. To me the 2085X was easier to turn manually than the 2085.

  • @LifebyDesign

    Did it hold up or fry out quickly?

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  Před 8 měsíci

      The 2085 and 2085X are horrible servos. It died almost immediately. I believe I was on 7.4V, but the servo would’ve burned out on 6V just the same. So… it fried out VERY quickly.
