- The Dinner Bell goes Dutch in this episode: Julia heads to Amsterdam and cooks a brunch feast for a group of locals and expats. Inspired by the local cuisine-like croquettes and poffertjes-Julia makes savory potato croquettes with Gouda sauce and poached eggs, chocolate buckwheat pancakes with berry coulis, and a lemon-thyme jenever cocktail.

8 minutes in and I'm loving this woman cooking and changing the pitch of her voice when she's excited about something.
I enjoyed this episode so much, I loved the host, she was extremily funny, the brunch looked amazing, the poffertjes dude was hilarious and it's nice to see my country on Munchies.

I went to this little pancake shop when I was in Amsterdam, they served it with maple syrup and a cold glass of milk, it was the best pancakes I've ever had, something about the dairy there that is very delicious.

i was born in amsterdam and gosh do i miss it. but seeing this video it will be soon i go overthere. the people are like no place else like you said. i live now in the sout part of the Netherlands and although it takes no mire thenn 2 hours to go there, there alway's seems to get something what keeps me from going there. In the summertime it is even better. and yes the Albert Cuyp is so nice to walk over sinds they sell really all kinds of foods clothes and so much more. anyway i loved to watched this video.

Potato kroketten are actually not common in the Netherlands at all :p but I loved hashbrowns so def going to try this!
+VanillaLooks you surely forgot that about the vegie lovers that do not eat meat and stuff. I, for one, LOVE aardappel krokketten as much as i love normal ones. I think they are as common as normal kroketten just eaten in different situations.
+MrSopkip I don't eat meat kroketten and I've never seen a 'snackbar' that sells aardappel kroketten sadly.

Lol, I live in the NL for 5 years, and I couldn't find anything close to be dutch culinary culture, but the three things described here: stroopwaffle, croquettes and herrings (ok also stampott).
There are very good cooks and restaurants around here, but the average stuff that people cook, let's forget about it.

It's from a bakery called Holtkamp (Vijzelgracht 15 in the centre of Amsterdam). They have a few shops, also outside of Amsterdam.

and when visit the netherlands dont you forget to visit the voedselbanken in every town every village on each streetcorner you will find the voedselbank because the to far created poverty in the netherlands. the dutch gouvernment welcomes you at every voedselbank ......................................
