Chef's Night Out: Robert Bohr

- While working in his way through law school in restaurants, the dean of Robert Bohr's program took notice of his passion for working with wine and the service industry and advised him to quit school and pursue what he really loved. Fast-forward some years later and a few stints as a sommelier at some of New York City's finest restaurants, and Mr. Bohr now runs his own restaurant-Charlie Bird-in SoHo and is one of the most well-respected figures in the wine world.
We tagged along for a night out with Mr. Bohr and some of his buddies to see what a group of sommeliers eat and drink on a night out. The first stop was NoMad in the Flatiron for some decadent food to match an impressive wine list. For the occasion, Thomas Pastuzak, wine director at NoMad and good friend of Robert, broke out what Mr. Bohr refers to as the "Unicorn Wine."
We then head to Brooklyn to meet up with Daniel Kessler at his restaurant Bergen Hill for crudo, cocktails, and white wine. Daniel joins as the guys head around the corner for pizza at Lucali and wine from Robert's secret stash that owner Mark Iacono let's him keep there. (Mark drives a beautiful classic Cadillac convertible, so naturally, they decide to drive back to Charlie Bird for the final meal of the evening.)
Back at Charlie Bird, head chef Ryan Hardy is hard at work cooking up a feast of Tuscan fried chicken, tortellini, and oysters. To accompany the meal, Robert caps the night by pouring some of his favorite off-menu wines for his favorite people.

"Who needs expensive wine when you have great German beer?" - That guy. I like that guy.
+WindmillStalker what beer is he drinking?
+excellent suggestions German "Reissdorf Kölsch" ... a speciality of cologne in germany; Reissdorf is the place and "kölsch" is a type of beer as pils, lager, ... kölsch is very subtle and mild compared to the typical tartness of a german pils.
Anybody that thinks those are not exclusive.
Best part was seeing Daniel Kessler of Interpol! Such a cool dude
I wanna see an entire programme dedicated to that pizza place guy.
+jfatsnorlax yes yes yes
+jfatsnorlax INDEED
+jfatsnorlax He had that look on his face @8:41 as if he just busted a big ass rail of Italian cocaine.
+jfatsnorlax pizza guy please!
Look up the Munchies video titled "Pizza Show: Brooklyn", it's really good!
that pizza guy was cool, that's what food should be about.
+Gagan Maur ...and his helpers!!
+Gagan Maur
Yeah, holishit I thought he was putting on the accent for a second.
Simple food none of this hippy cricle jerk sommelier shit
+Gagan Maur that shit was off top.
+Pai Grado didnt realize his harem were all in overalls until they were leaving. look good tho
seeing daniel from interpol was the oddest surprise
Totally wasn’t expecting him either lmao, but it was super cool to see what he does outside of Interpol!
guy on the kitchen focused on that smoked ham and talking passionately on how hard it is to acquire this piece was the real shit. dude loves what he does
How random to see a guy who helped make one of the greatest and most critically acclaimed rock albums with Turn On the Bright Lights. They're all so nonchalant about his presence lol
Holy cow, that pizza looked absolutely amazing!!!
Fuck yeah, son! I fux wit dat hip hop, yo! This is fuckin good. Brooklyn style like fuuuuck. Watched fuckin Straight Outta Compton. Fuck yeah, bitches.
Oh, and the red you're drinking has subtle notes of oak, papaya, bubble gum, virginia slims, with a nice finish of garbage from a Vietnamese restaurant and a swingline stapler.
quality haha 👍👍
+Andrew Tseng You win the Inteener
Comment of the year
I love this! Makes me want to move to NY even more now and good wine is always a plus. I love that he said the only intent is spending time with great people.
Awesome episode, thank you👍👌🍸
"When you leave, you don't really know or care or remember what you've eaten or drunk. You know when you leave how good you feel. And that's important." Puts into perspective what the restaurant experience is really about.
Hey its the guitarist from Interpol! Thats freakin awesome!
They don't mess around with the wines they are drinking, some really good bottles.
+honest truth LOL!
+honest truth lmfaoooooooooooooooooo
Outstanding video! Love the last part of it!
Robert Bohr is like an obnoxious, older Caillou
wohc notna I know this is two years later but your comment cracked me up
I know Im asking randomly but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Solomon Beau instablaster ;)
@Memphis Blaze i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Memphis Blaze it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my account!
shoutout to the Dean at NYU law though.... great encouragement and support
This is melodic, food is kinda hypnotic
Another episode of the bougie elite eating basic foods in exclusive restaurants.
I've lived it and it. So give up trying to make me bitter and jealous of a lifestyle I find pretentious. It's the same foods you can buy on any street and Olive Garden, except these fools are paying triple the cost for any opportunity to pretend their consuming something special with special people. Therefore that makes them special.
You're a sad person. Pathetic hater.
Just point out one item you can't eat at Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden.
Yes, you pretentious beast. I worked as a director for a corporation which owned over a dozen hotels across the US. Go away, fool.
Chocolate bunny making haul videos of fake stuff ordered from chinese website. Fuck outta here bitch. Seriously...
They really made that sommelier look like an asshole. Love it.
Regular Chef's Night Out: eating ridiculous amounts of incredibly tasty looking food, having fun, crazy drunk people, enjoyable episodes. This week's Chef's Night Out: Couple of bald guys ordering one plate of food for the lot of them and talking about fermented grapejuice. The pizza guy was solid though.
yeah I thought this CNO was pretty sissy tbh.
You should do a whole youtube video about that pizza guy. I loved that place!
This is like a dream evening of eating and drinking. Heaven.
You only have to look at the reviews of the restaurant to know it is a great place. Clearly the owners are very passionate and care a lot about the restaurant. Say what you like, but you have to admire the fact that they deliver.
can't believe that pizza place was so empty, looks fucking amazing!
+Obrid I suppose it was very late compared to their normal working times.
''Who needs expensive wine when you have great German beer." Amen my brother, *Amen.*
this was a good episode. i liked that they were at Lucalis (bucket list)
Best episode
The pizza guy, Lucali, has been in other Munchies videos. Love that guy.
"Best wine I've had in a week". These guys are db's.
Diversity is what makes this world great. If it was a bunch of hipsters, the comment section would be filled with people who don't like hipsters. They are doing their own thing and they look happy about it. Let's do our own thing and be happy. No sense in wasting such time judging someone's happiness.
Well this dude certainly wasn't pretentious.
Fuckin sommeliers....
what did the lesbian vampire say to the other lesbian vampire ? see you next month
+Karim Ziadé wow you're so edgy i cut myself.
+Karim Ziadé LELELELEL
they should 69 and create perpetual energy
The reason why I hate front of the house...
Munchies comments -- people hating on very successful people in the food industry because they can't afford to eat at their restaurants.
The blue hue of the NYC skyline that night was incredible.
Men drank and their food … classic episode
This guys life is BOSS
Everyone is hating on Robert, but tbh I kind of like him. I'm sure he's a lot of fun to be with
too many people just can't seem to act natural on this series.
I'll need to taste some of these wines
we want huang and bronson
No...we don't.
Volker Hofstetter judging from the views of their videos compared to the other shit munchies puts out..yeah we do lol
Interpol!
I shit a chicken when he said Interpol lol
+J Marduk but his name is Daniel Kessler
jesus christ this guy is practically secreting and that restaurant is so gentrified I want to cry
Wooow nice one!!!😎😉😉👌🏾☺️
Daniel Kessler and wine bottles, I can’t complain man
Really likeable guy...
I like this dude..he's fucking great
honestly tho, head sommelier at babbo in 98'... thats some serious cred
This guy lovvvvessss the camera.
i came for wine stayed for daniel kessler

I guess this one should've been called sommelier's night out
Really cool guy :)

The restaurant has a wine director and a sommelier?
They sound the same?
reissdorf kölsch ! beer from cologne ! best beer
I don’t mind swearing now and then but that guy over does it.
The lady in the denim dungarees in the pizza place = Cute.
He's actually drinking Reissdorf Kölsch. Good choice!
I stopped watching when the guy said: 'That was the best bottle of wine I had IN A WEEK!". There's only so much pretentiousness I can take...
I feel you but to fair he was a wine sommelier lol
Daniel❤❤
I LOVE CHEFS NIGHT OUT but, if these people are just gonna go to overpriced places and eat fried chicken and pizza, why do it. SHOW US SOMETHING NEW, something we've never seen before, and not just your friends place around the corner that gets no play, although I do like the vibe that Lucali's has going on
what an appropriate last name
"REALLY?! so you're going to serve red wine with fried chicken" sips on tall can of PBR
Mark is a cool guy.
LUCALI'S!!! Best Pizza in New York!
do y'all have any videos on african food? I was literally just thinking now I haven't seen very many. maybe i need to search through your vids a bit more, but I'm curious.
awesome thanks!
we need action Bronson back. This guy seems cool but I dont think most people can relate to them. Maybe if they all got super high and then went out, it would be more interesting.
Despite all of the varied comments, this aged well XD
this is not a CHEFS night out!
Pretentious wank’s night out*
These guys love wine a little too much. The food is like an afterthought.
Reissdorf Kölsch! Best Beer!
I'm hungry now.
None of this or their conversations seemed fun to me. But, the pizza looked great !
I want to meet the chef who opens a restaurant that he makes the food he hates to see if he learns to like it
I think this is the only munchies video where the people could actually appreciate what the fuck they were drinking
Who needs expensive wine when you have great German beer
These people are lucky they all went to college.
Get some women to go out with you next time, this looks like a sausage fest!
They dont know any women lol
+redkem80 That's what I think all the time watching Munchies
+redkem80 and too much of "we got a blabla situation" thing
+redkem80 Its ok to chill with the boys sometimes
+redkem80 No women want to hang out with these pretentious fucks.
This guy was going after jay and silent bob for dropping the f bomb the most times in a movie or this case a munchies episode.
Reissdorf
First chef not to cook at his own restaurant at the end of the night...
Excellent convertible car.
Matty Matheson COME BACK PLEASE!!!!
hahahaha loved this one! The most pretentious guys on Munchies evaaaa
im too rough around the edges for this crew. great vid tho!
A little too much *uckin' this and *uckin' that, but this was a fun episode. Some good food and a lot of fine wine, then go drive a classic convertible. Yeah!
2:34
Please make a proper documentary about the pizza guy.
how are they not full from visitin four places in one night?
