- Back when you saw Ken Block visit Audi headquarters in Ingolstadt to kick off their all- new partnership, what we couldn’t show you were the very first sketches for this: the Audi S1 Hoonitron. AKA a car built in the legendary halls of Audi Sport, for the sole purpose of being the world’s first all-electric Gymkhana car. This build bio hits different... we think this car has forever changed our mind on the future of EV's. Stoked on what Audi and Ken came up with on this RS Etron GT monster, and we couldn't be more excited to be a small part of it on our end.

This build bio is definitely what I needed today. It’s an epic feat. Naysayers have as much sense as the people who said your brain would explode on a train, and to just stick with horses (they even made old timie ads showing how speed kills 😂😂😂). Solid work y’all!

Audi unknowingly paid the ultimate homage to Ken, by building him the world's most incredible EV performance package for what now is, Ken's final ride. That makes this car, priceless. It's now the most iconic car ever built in EV history, but motorsports as well. RIP Ken... You are a Legend!

Dude I remember watching the original Gymkhana video with my Dad when it first came out. Back then, it was just a guy with a shoe company doing crazy things with a Subaru, and it inspired a love of cars and racing and rally in my young mind.
And here we are, so very many years later, and one of my favorite car companies spared no expense in making a custom gymkhana car for Ken.
What an insane journey this has been! I can only imagine how much more insane it feels for you guys!

Yeah.
Now, if your starting position is "design arm of the luxury brand of top-3 global automotive corp" and your task is "make the best possible tech demo of EV going sideways" then designing and building a car from scratch IS the faster and simpler way than trying to adapt an existing chassis. It's not cheap nor easy, but with VAG's marketing budget to foot the bill and its R&D team to put it together, that's not a relevant objection.

Audi could not have played it any better. Having Ken as an ambassador for Electric performance vehicles is a huge win. I look forward to their F1 debut as well.

Here’s where I’m at. Audi is backing the car culture. That being said they won me over. I sold my Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio for an RS5 Sportback. That being said the next purchase is an E-Tron.
At first I was surprised to see this video was almost 40 minutes long, until I saw Scotto was hosting it. Now I'm surprised it's not longer :)

It’s so cool that Audi embraces its bad ass past through you, and sets a direction for the future. The car is so cool, and the way it’s built has so many race car details like the way the wind screen is bolted in place.

Can really hear how much Ken is in love with the concept of electrikhana, whenever he speaks about it having 'no gearbox', that little pause before he explains, you can see just how happy that small detail makes him. I mean it's literally half the work that goes into driving like he does, so this just made life a breeze for Ken, so he can hoon the crap out of it
I don't think I would have ever guessed the seating position was similar to F1. It looks like a "regular" car.

Czech automotive manufacturer incorporated into the vag portfolio. Occasionally Skoda models hit a spot no others from the vag family can manage. Our Fabia vrs is just one of those cars. A real stripped down drivers car. Simple and cheap, but fantastic to drive.
any time i miss seeing Ken from the hoonigan vids it's nice to come back to ones like this and hear him again. really miss him on the current vids tho :(

Yeah, not really a fan of EVs... until now! I don't think they can ever match the feeling and sound of ICEs, but they surely can be awesome when built right, especially at doing things our typical cars can't. Thank you Hoonigan once again for proving the impossible is possible!

This thing is just awesome. I used to be into the hobby quality RC cars and trucks, both nitro and brushless motor driven. Those things can easily go 60-100mph nowadays. My friends and I would always joke about how fun it would be to be inside and driving them at scale. I feel like the Hoonitron is the first EV to hit that mark when it comes to performance figures. Props to Hoonigan and Audi for dreaming this up. Can't wait to see Electrikhana!!
Goofing around on youtube I found some hobbyists that are pushing RC cars to around 200 mph... absolutely insane.
Checking on the conversion for the torque he stated and hp equivalent of similar motors, this thing is apparently pushing around 2200 hp and 4400 lb of torque... absolute insane insanity. If they ever line this thing up to drag against road cars like they did the Mustang, that will be a treat.
Looking forward to see Electrikhana with that beast!! The next video has to be a drag race against the Hoonicorn 😂

The coolant tank in Audi cars hasn't changed since like the early 90s. Love it!
It would be sweet if it had a 2 way handbrake, like pull back disengages the rear, and pushing it forward disengages the front. That would be fun, especially on ice and snow

the whole wheel speed accuracy thing is interesting. the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised to see them add something that lets him adjust the sensitivity of the throttle on the fly. i imagine a dial or multi-position switch that can switch between different max rpm for the motors (could even be integrated into something like a sequential or paddleshift)
or a foot pedal.. like a clutch

I admit that this was what sorta made me drift away from hoonigan for a while because I’m not a big fan of the electric stuff. That said I was still a fan of ken and his other stuff I really was, he was a great driver and I imagine a pretty badass guy for Lia to have as a dad. Rest In Peace Ken
Growing up seeing Hoonigan evolution is mind blowing. This car is a dream becoming true! Audi picking up the best enginners and designers to make the perfect and wildness car in the world is something to remember forever. The next Gymkhana will be absolutely awesome!

I remember discovering this feature when working on an '86 Audi sedan: one control arm part number. Really great idea... Just flip and rotate, depending on which corner you're installing the arm on.
No, literally every upright can be used in any corner. They have mounting provisions to mount brakes on either side of the strut

What an amazing looking machine. Can't wait to see how it delivers on the entertainment front. The bar has been set high with previous Hoonigan cars. The noise/soul/theatre of the petrol powered stuff is a tough act to follow.
For that wheel speed control would it be possible to add a “clutch” that worked like a potentiometer to increase or decrease electric resistance depending on clutch position to allow you to control wheel speed (“clutch” pressed in creating high resistance slowing down wheel speed/ released increases wheel speed) I feel like there’s a way to make that work with proper programming based on the resistance generated by the “clutch” position.
Will there be an extended cut after thee initial drop? I would love to see more of what couldn't be included.

A big congratulations for getting as far as you have, may you continue for many millenia. What has been interesting to note is how smoothly you spin your story behind this specific car, it's truly commendable and by no doubt will have almost every viewer without question. It's a different beast in almost if not every way. The few details I'm eluding to are completely understandable to a point though rather disheartening when Ken's immensely undeniable driving skills, not to mention building the brand to what is seen today. Without writing too much here, the balance of three pedals. The brake pedal be the centre point, to the left should have been a possibility for such an elite car manufacturer for the benefit of Ken that is, though EV's don't need it, this one off Audi could have included it in an positive beneficial addition here. As the pedal to the right is such seen in EV's (stop/go), whereas a staggered graduation of acceleration may have been 'one off' applicable only, though the benefit of inclusion for Ken's sake seemingly was missed? All this considered you guys deserve a huge congratulations again for sure.
Damn, this car is impressive💯. The collaboration with Audi is absolutely next level. Here's the "but"...BUT, I'm a gear head not an electrician or programmer. I like building big, loud, high-compression, over-boosted oil eaters. I'll be the old man hoarding all the gas cars like Gollem from LOTR.

One of the first mods I made to my mk3 was a bonrath mono wiper I don’t have it in the middle though it’s on the passenger side. Looking forward to Electrikhana.
