Early on they never showed their faces. They wanted people to focus on the music instead of who they were, and also wanted the little bit of anonymity that came with it. This video was huge when it first came out because it was the first even glimpse of most of them without masks for most Slipknot fans. They gave up trying to never be seen without the masks years ago at this point, with the exception of Craig Jones (spikey head) who never does interviews or anything. The rest of the members have all done various interviews over the years with no masks on.

The reason why I love slipknot is they have the perfect balance in their music. Nothing truly takes over. Keeping it melodic and heavy at the same time. Even their heaviest songs are so catchy.
I have to tell you my young friend you made a great choice! I am 63 and fell in love with this band a bunch of years ago. I also enjoy a lot of what you do on your channel. keep up the good work.
I love the progression of your slipknot reactions, early on you seemed a little shocked and almost uncomfortable but now you look like you're genuinely digging their music. A top 3 slipknot song for me. What I really like about them now, is how they've transformed from a nu-metal band, to a more arty and experimental one. It happened very gradually too.
I used to find Slipknot to be gimmicky and one dimensional, but the musicianship , vision, and energy of this band really can't be denied, Wow! I never would've thought they'd last 25 years.
This is probably my favorite Slipknot song. I like their music in general, but they're not really an everyday band for me. It's good to see you branching out into metal lately. There's a lot of good music there. And yes. I also like Elvis.
I stumbled randomly onto your first reaction video, i love to see people first time experiencing music i already know, it gets me to the time i heard the same song/video, quite nostalgic times :) Keep on the good work, greetings.
Hey man, I'm usually a lurker and not a commenter, but I just wanted to say I like your style. You seem genuine and not just reacting in a way that is over the top and acted out. Most reaction videos come off as cheesy to me, but I enjoy your work.
Best video from them IMO. They proved that they were focused on their music for all of the haters claiming that they were only interesting b/c of their costumes :)
Itâs so awesome to see all your reactions to so much of the music I grew up listening to. Iâve seen so many of these bands live at concerts, some multiple times, like Slipknot!!! Definitely check out Corey Taylorâs other songs from his other band, Stone Sour. Keep ROCKING on!!!
As a musician, I really appreciate people like you. I appreciate people open minded and show real appreciation for art whether it be lyrical or musical. That being said, I wish you were able to listen to the "studio" version of "Snuff" by Slipknot. Not an official video or live version, but the studio version is so touching and emotional it's hard to describe. Listen to it off camera, your reaction would be great to see, but just being able to experience those lyrics with that music is beyond deep. Sorry for the long post, and thank you for what you do.
For most of the band members the masks are an outward projection of the demons they are dealing with inside. So putting it out there in their music is like therapy. That's why some of the band members' mask changes with each new album. I love all their music, but if you're looking for a more listenable (mainstream) song check out: Duality or Psychosocial
All of their masks change every album cycle, just some much more than others. The masks were originally because they wanted people to focus on the music and not the individuals. It's why they also went by numbers instead of their names. The only one I've seen mention that his mask is a reflection of how he's feeling at the time is Clown.
It was saturday October 30, 1999, day before Halloween when me and a couple buddies went to The Freaker's Ball at the Starplex in Dallas. The lineup was: Chevelle Coal Chamber Machine Head Megadeth Orange 9MM Sevendust Slipknot StaticâX We each took 2 gel tabs (Acid) in the parking lot before walking in. It was wild because everyone was dressed up in their Halloween costumes. I vividly remember a couple dressed as a giant bag of weed and a giant pack of Zig Zag rolling papers. Me and one of my buddies was standing in the lawn area after StaticâX had just finished and we were wearing our rubber masks. I was trying to smoke a cigarette and the tiny mouth holes made it a difficult, but humorous task. Most of the smoke was traveling up inside the mask and coming out the eye holes. I turned around to look at my buddy just as I was exhaling and he said, "whoa DUDE... your eyeballs are smoking!" We're standing there, laughing like a couple of mental patients when Corey Taylor (lead singer) and Joey Jordison (drummer) walked up and stood beside us and said, "cool masks man!". They weren't wearing their masks so we had no clue who they were. They asked our names and where we were from. We made small talk with them for maybe 15-20 minutes, Joey laughed at the "smoking eyeballs" trick and they had to go. We didn't realize until later when they got on stage who they were. Corey pointed at us from the stage and called us by name and told us to come down to the stage. I had an 8 ball of coke in my pocket and a head full of acid, so all kinds of shit was racing through my mind. I thought we were in trouble, but instead, he handed us a couple of signed jerseys and told us we were welcome to hang out and watch their show from inside the security barrier right in front of the stage.
This was the game-changer Slipknot song for me! I had the first 2 CDs and liked them somewhat, but must have pawned them. I've pawned so many over the years haha go broke from keeping up with all my favorite bands. Bit of a collector too. Anyways, heard this song and loved it, and went to check for the first 2. I was like, damn I sold them, so I had to rebuy them! Been a huge Slipknot fan ever since!
They showed their faces occasionally but if you know the members you also know the other acts they are a part of Corey and James Root are in Stone Sour, Mick(guitarist with the kind of hockey mask) is in Malevolent creation Siid is DJ Starscream, Shawn (clown) is in Dirty little Rabbits. Joey (the drummer wearing the kabuki mask) was in murderdolls , Chris (longnose mask) played bass for Will Haven. Some members have now left or passed away Paul the bassist passed away from a drug overdoses. Joey left the band in 2013, chris filed a lawsuit against the band then left in 2019.
