I went to one while underage and it was at a hotel so my father was forced to come. He left talking about how crazy the energy was and he said "I don't like heavy metal but that was an amazing show"

In 7th grade we had to choose a song and write a paper about the meaning of it or how we perceived it and play it for the class. I did mine on Vermillion part 1 and when I said I was doing a Slipknot song just about everyones face was like oh god not this shit but once I played it nobody had a problem with it, assuming most didn't know they had any softer songs... meaning is still kinda fucked

For a metal band, I find them the best. I've been to Slipknot concerts, and no other concert I've been to can ever compete with the amount of energy they have on the stage.
I've seen slipknot 15 times and I love them there a life style if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be here.

Tj Hodgetts it’s everyone’s opinion on #1 band but I’d have to say Slipknot is better in consistency on good music than Metallica tho these are my 2 favorite bands

Saw Slipknot for the 9th time last month and took my non metal head friend and he said they were crazy good and wants to go see them again!

Joey wasn't the drummer for Killpop, that was Jay Weinberg, who is amazing in his own right. I love him AND Joey, and consider them both the drummer of Slipknot.

Slipknot is one of the highest rated heavy metal bands. They are definitely one of the highest paid bands and they get the most fans to their live shows.

There's a shitload of ways to define heavy. That being, they're near the top in terms of talent, ie musicianship and vocals.
It was not until I watched a video of Slipknot performing live that I liked them. I never gave them a second look.
When I saw psychosocial live, I was awakened. I'm mean really? Nine guys on stage losing their minds and playing at that level.. OMFG
Same with me. I always past up on their music but when I started getting into youtube and saw some of the concerts I was automatically hooked and became a fan.

Last thing, the drummer in the killpop video was a baby when this band started. A true story of someone living their dream to play in one of the worlds biggest bands.

Late comment but slipknot is held pretty high in the metal scene. They put on phenomenal performances. I've seen so many bands live in my life time and they are up there in the top 5 bands that have blown me away live.

Slipknot will always be my favorite in the rock genre. I listen to mostly hip hop nowadays but I was a metal head all thru school and Slipknot helped me thru.

Slipknot is diffidently top 10 of my metal bands. Listen to them ever since I was 13 years old, I'm 27 now. Diffidently had a huge impact in my life. Also R.I.P Paul Grey. ( Bassist for Slipknot )

Back in the '90s, when they were still playing clubs, I had tickets to see them in Pensacola, Florida. The show was cancelled that afternoon because three of the guys were hospitalized from exhaustion and dehydration (presumably because of the masks and jumpsuits). It even made the local news. They've come back many times since then. Great post. Cheers.

Slipknot does have some quite talented members and I enjoy their music. That being said most metalheads don't hold them in very high esteem due to their simplicity and mainstream sound on some albums.

Early Slipknot=Best, However one of the big reasons I will always consider them top teir is the exposure they've brought to metal. Alot of there stuff can be seen as a gateway to the world and for that I cant hate. Plus on a personal level they are really good people as well which helps reflect well on the metal community as a whole. So I nod my head in respect always
I'm with Dyzzy, I've seen them a few times and they are almost beyond words!!! I saw them with Disturbed and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to....

Slipknots in the pantheon of metal. They’re not even my favorite or anything, but they’ve earned it with their contributions to music and years of success writing music their own way.
One member named Sid (the one on the turn tables) is known for climbing up on the stage high points and jumping into the crowd.
During one show he fell and broke not one but both heels. Sid crawled and limped back on stage and finished the show with the help of a stool to sit on. This is all on video, easily found on CZcams.
Sid finished the tour from a motorized chair.
The same Sid that lost a fight with a door during filming for Psychosocial

Elite is the word bro. There’s a reason they are in my Top 3 Favorite bands. So much influence on me throughout my life since 1999. Seen them 6 times live going all the way back to 2000. I’m proud to call myself a maggot. I’m telling you, go to a show, it will change your life. I really enjoy seeing you head-banging and showing much respect. They deserve it. Read up on them sometime. Their story is very unique and tragic. Keep the Slipknot coming!

In the video for "Before I forget" it was the first time they had been on camera with no masks (sort of..Corey Taylor and Jim Root were in Stone Sour, but Stone Sour was still relatively unknown at the time), so that's why they don't actually show their faces. I remember when the video came out people were freaking out about it. Not too long after a few photos got leaked and then they just kinda gave up the whole hide their faces thing..except Craig.
