AERIUM - Compressed Air Powered Motorcycle

  • AERIUM is a Steam Punk themed motorcycle that runs on compressed air.
    This amazing motorcycle which goes by the name of AERIUM, was made by the custom motorbike builder Peter Forsberg, and took him 3 years to create.
    The most attention grabbing detail about this bike, is it’s visible mechanical components, were you can see pistons, pushrods and crankshaft, through the glass installed in the engine.
    The bike runs on compressed air from a tank strapped to the rider back, but only has enough air for about a 3-5 minute ride.
    Peter wanted to enter the bike in a custom bike competition, but one of the rules was, the bike had to be rideable, for it to be entered into the competition.
    So the bike was not made for speed or the ability to ride far, just fast & far enough to ride it up on stage.
    I think it would be fair to say, it’s less of a practical motorbike and more of a piece art.
    Thanks for watching.

    I'd like to see a carb and ignition fitted, although may only run for a minute with rubber rings, it would be cool to see. I've seen another channel so a see through single cylinder two stroke. Combustion engines are fascinating and one of the few things I'm proud of my fellow humans for improving on.

    What if the bike could eat air by itself at every rotation of the pedals with a piston and give air back for moving?

    • @WonderWorldYTC
      @WonderWorldYTC  Před 4 lety +11

      "every rotation of the pedals " it's not a bicycle it's a motorbike, there are no pedals

    • @Hamdad
      @Hamdad Před 4 lety +10

      Then it's pedal powered, just unnecessarily complicated and less efficient than a chain drive. If you think it could produce more energy from the released air than it takes to compress it by pedaling, you've broken the laws of physics

    • @WonderWorldYTC
      @WonderWorldYTC  Před 4 lety +2

      I checked it out, but not impressed. I did not do the story because of the air powered technology, there are actual working motorbike with that technology.
      I did it because it was an elegant looking custom bike in a steam punk theme that ran on air. Not some old bicycle that had a air canister strapped to the packrack.
      But I do appreciate the suggestion.

    It seems like he could have used an air compressor instead of a tank of compressed air. There are even air compressors that run on batteries. Ryobi makes one.

    • @NBSV1
      @NBSV1 Před 3 lety

      Those small compressors can produce high pressure, but they have very little flow. So, wouldn’t put out enough air to actually make the bike run. And, they’re not made to run for very long before overheating.
      You’d actually be better off using the electric motor to drive the bike than trying to compress air to run the bike.
