- A look at one of the well known pubs that has been long forgotten. What will become of this local drinking establishment.
Turned into flats? Or just left to crumble onto the road and footpaths 🤷🏻♂️.
One thing is certain, this has joined an ever growing list of derelict pubs and buildings in Merseyside that have become forgotten about.

There were three pubs on Bankhall, This one was known to the natives as the Bankhall. There was also the Hangsman half way down and the Griffin at the bottom. I remember being told that this was also sometimes called the Hangsman. I think this was in some way connected to the Kirkdale jail.
Great info, thanks for contributing John 👌🏻
Do you mean the club called The Norsmen?
Incredible stunning beautiful place 👌👌👌👌👌👌♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
i see this building out of the starboard window on Merseyrail train from Liverpool Central to Southport just as we approach 'BankHall' station. always thought it must have some history..it does stand out even derelict.
Just a shame, buildings such as this are being left to rot. 🤦🏻♂️. Sadly, everything comes down to money.
I worked on it around 25 yrs ago done pub up built flats in it
Used to call in there on the way home from Anfield on match days. Served a great pint of bitter, Walkers I think.
Another great video. We've never visited Liverpool. This is so well filmed and interesting information. Thank you ❤
Thank you so much for your comments ❤️❤️🙏🏻. Liverpool is such a great place and so many things to see & do. Maybe add it to your list 👌🏻
You should visit Liverpool it will leave an imprint on your heart
@davidvernon4828 so true 👍🏻👍🏻
Very good video mate, well done
Nice one Kev, I appreciate your comments mate 👍🏻
I Have worked round there since 1996 and the barber next door has had that barbershop since around then am sure he will be able to give you more information
Well done. Subbed.
Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Used to be one of ours, we had the lease on it prob around 2000 to 2005, squatters got in upstairs after we sorted the place out.
🤦🏻♂️ nightmare. Such a shame about this place.
Brilliant video, please film more like it 👍
Thanks for your comment. I’m trying to find more pubs that are abandoned/derelict, so you might get your wish 😂👍🏻
Used to live 5mins from there until 2005. I used the barbers next door too. On bankhall st was Forticrete I worked for them on bridle road near the giro. Good memories. Subbed 👍
Nice one mate, appreciate the sub 👍🏻. I did a video about another derelict pub on the corner of Bradewell St/Westminster Rd called the Sefton Arms. People telling me some great stories.
@Redfox_UK I'm going to watch your other videos and catch up cheers mate 👍
Great video 👍 really enjoyed, used to have a workshop just behind the pub , I remember the royal getting painted in about 1989 (exterior ) looked fabulous I was jealous I wasn’t painting it (I’m a painter & decorator)😊
Thanks for your kind comment Tony 😌👍🏻. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I was born on St John's Rd nr 70 yrs ago.
Always wondered what it was, looking up from the train on my way to either to Southport or maybe Kirkby. Can see the corner spire from the train line. Great shame to see so many pubs around Liverpool with great structure crumbling.
Once they’ve served their purpose they’re just forgotten about. As beautiful as some of these buildings still are, it’s the cost involved to make it usable again which stops investors wanting to fix it. Such a shame for the local area. People’s memories are the best thing that will always keep places like this alive. 👌🏻
Places Like The Royal must have been thriving ,and a real centre of activity for the local Community.. In the past even with pubs the architecture was amazing. They paid more attention to detail then.. Great video,
@@stealf1005...”Our Government?”...is deliberately changing the British culture...and as the new culture doesn’t consume alcohol..what’s the point in returning that beautiful structure back into a pub?...
VERRY GOOD VIDEO now try for a pub round the corner in clide st called the lozzee houst or the albion hotel
I’ll make a note of them, thanks for the suggestions 👍🏻
God dam shame they let this happen
Totally agree. I didn’t know the pub when it was still a pub but by all accounts, a lively place full of characters 😂👍🏻
Surely that building is unsafe, why hasn't it been demolished
Not sure tbh. It’ll be a shame when it does go though. Too bad it’s been left to crumble.
Remember watch live aid in there. Last licensee I remember was Ronnie and his wife Mary. Great place. Known local as the Bankhall
Everyone has had some great stories to tell about this place. Was well loved by the locals. Shame it’s the way it is 😤
@Redfox_UK So many places just left. Some will never be repaired, knocked down an replaced by a modern monstrosity. Sad 😔
Was a great place back in the day
It seems sadly missed by a lot of the locals who said the same thing as you 👍🏻
I’m from Bootle, so I know it well.
Bootle is NOT in Liverpool (next to it YES) Bootle is in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton !.
Many thanks, I appreciate the clarification 👍🏻
I’ve amended the title and description. 👍🏻😌
@@Redfox_UK Good On Yer!.
