- Here is the collection of all the City Centre pubs in Liverpool. As it stands 2015 there are 96 still survive. There were over a hundred watering holes a few years back but like so many others fall victim to supermarkets, cheap off licenses, high rent, the smoking ban or torched or demolished. Liverpool has some superb pubs, so next time your in town leave the missus shopping & nip in for a quick half to keep them alive....

BillyBigTop Glasgow
Lost so so many pubs in the past 30 years Liverpool and with that the characters have died off! still a tiny few survive! :)
Gorgeous video, love the music, thanks so much for putting this together. Lyn xx
Thanks very much Lyn for your nice comment!.... This vid was done in Jan 2015 and in just over two years quite a few of these have either closed or been demolished sadly. Music wise i had to use Liverpool band Shack as it just fitted perfect to a nicely chilled video. You from Liverpool yourself? Dave xx
Hiya Dave. Yes, from Liverpool and there every couple of weeks, but based in Colchester at the mo. Devastated to hear a lot more have gone, but sign of the times, same all over the country. Nobody goes to pubs really, any more, they sit indoors and play video games and watch Netflix with a bottle of wine from Bargain Booze LOL sad. Very sad. I've decided to do an art exhibition about it. if you know anyone who would like to be interviewed (hopefully in one of the ones that has not been demolished) about any stories, funny, sad, just interesting, about old pubs, let me know. Coming to Liverpool every couple of weeks or so to a bit more research each time. You video is just wonderful though, Dave. I've never heard that song before, which makes the vid more interesting. It is so beautiful, as you say, chilled out. (fillin up now! Getting too emtotional he he bye for now. L
Lived only 10 minutes walk from town along Great Howard Street into Old Hall Street and I was in town, I know EVERY PUB there is in town, served my time downtown

did you spend most of your time on your back then?
I worked in the Cunarder next door to the city pets shop from 1982 to 1984 , great times , then again I was only 22 in 1982 ! Best thing about working in a pub in those days were chatting the girls up , free drinks , good tips and a juke box full of decent songs ! The star and garter in st John's precinct was another good pub . I actually managed that for 2 weeks in 1983 😊
Great Video . I lived in the Crown Hotel ....many moons ago ,a great Pub .
snaed27 superb what was it like to live in? did you live on the 3rd floor?
Yes the third floor just above the Gold writing ,it was massive ,it also had a spooky attic. I loved living there ,and people watching from the massive windows .
I grew up in the Old Fort 1972/79.🍻🍺👌
Liverpool = the best city in the world!!!
I was born in the U.S., my Da was born in Liverpool. His Mother's family owned "The Lamb" pub probably more than 100 years ago now. I know it is not in, or near City Center. The family also owned a pie company "Middleton's Pies". Whom most people living would not remember. Ronnie
Cheers Ronnie, The Lamb pub is in a place called Wavertree on a road called the High Street, it still stands today but is a solicitors now. thanks for the message. Dave
I'm a pub singer. I've played in 14 of the pubs on this list.
Best city in Europe and great people my second home lv from Sunderland 💯🍻🍻
Nice one Terry, Yet to visit Sunderland, i imagine a warm welcome up there as well :)

I'll be there end of May(from Canada).I'll go to as many as possible.
Best place for pubs is if you head towards the Bombed out Church ( Hardman Street ) and they are in and around there. Dale Street is also good for pubs, you will find them on a map on your phone. Good luck, have one on me ;)
Bogman used to love a lock-in at the Bridewell, hosepipes at the ready
been in a few of these when walking up from boat.pier head. rigbys was good. and the legs of man.
Let's have a pint!Cheers!
Great Vid, but times have changed so fast in a year and a half. Maybe a recap vid is in order? Would love to see an updated version including all places that serve a drink (alcoholic of course!) in Liverpool, including the bistros, clubs , hotels, etc.
I was thinking about this the other day, theres about 5 pubs which have vanished or closed and a few new ones worth adding! i might do an updated one in early 2017 :)
Since this Video was released in 2015, The Beehive in Paradise Street has beer refurbished, inside and out, and changed its Landlord and name to the Futurist in 2023. This, as an ex regular guest when in town, I know for sure. Seeing as it is now 2024, that's 9 years after this compliation, I expect this list of wonderful Liverpudlian Pubs has become sadly even shorter!
Hi there.. yes we’ve lost a fair few since this was made… few new ones have arrived since then thankfully… I’ll be making one next year 10 years on to show Liverpools pubs in 2025 🍺 😁👍🏻
@@BillyBigTop ...good idea, cheers. Love your work.
Me and my cousin pub crawled from town to Pagemoss. We went in every pub up London Road, Kensington Old Swan and we started a Rosie Ogrades.
Great stuff. Loved it. Is the Oxford still open (top of Mount Pleasant by the Uni) or was it out of range?
Thanks for the comment :).... The Oxford still survives but isnt a pub anymore. It got turned into a newsagents about 3 years ago....Would of loved it to of still been a pub i would of deffo went in there
Proably done about 10 of these......still got time
Plenty of time George.... Best boozers for me if your from Liverpool are all up round the Georgian Quater, all untouched & original
Thanks for posting this. I am not from England but I come to Liverpool every year. I counted that I had been in 24 of the 96. There were a couple more I think I may have been in but not exactlly sure.
Hi there thanks for the comment much appreciated :)
were abouts are you from?
BillyBigTop California. I support Everton so I come every year for football.
some of these have gone now and some new ones opened
Thinking of making a new one 2017 as quite a few have gone and quite a few new ones have opened up
there seems to be a load of Cuban bars etc , which I love, last time I went into town and di a bit of a pub crawl with my brother, a few weeks ago
What's the difference between a pub and a bar? Genuinely curious (Hannahs not making it for example)
+Aubrey Reynolds A lot of people ask me this, I would say a pub is more of a traditional free house, plus the decor makes a big impact as well and also depending on age can define a pub! most new pubs today are bistros that specialise more in food than drink! IE old blind school....
Great memories of these pubs cant say I like them changing to Irish names but I suppose it is for the tourists
which one is the best to watch liverpool games live
+Usain James The crocodile is a good pub to watch Liverpool games in! :)
O ' Neil's is a good bar . And The Vines is good. But, you forgot The White Star Blues bar .
i live 1 second from shennanigans
Cracking boozer, not been in since its extension
CHERERS shared this xx
When I finally get to Liverpool, I should like to go to a family-owned pub that would be safe for ladies. Which pub would you suggest for middle-aged Beatles-loving ladies?
marthahardie Hi there, were abouts are you travelling from?......You know what, 99% of the pubs in Liverpool city centre are no problem for middle aged Beatles loving ladies :) I suggest you try Flanagans Apple, Philharmonic Dining Rooms, The Grapes & Yee Cracke. These are good Pubs full of history and decor :)
The Dart. Lodge Lane.
Have drank in so many of them happy days LOL
What's the name of the song and who plays it?

The faculty?
its just a bar mate not a pub
BillyBigTop I always thought Newington Temple was a pub
Used to be the Old Ropery then it became, Bier and then 18 months ago it was refurbished and turned into The Newington Temple... Good boozer that now :)
the bee gees
+thelma swift The Bee Gees?
I'd been back there, I knew it just didn't exist anymore.
Is that Kack doing the fucking terrible music?
its gone now the poachers sack inn
Bogus count. There are far more pubs. You showed one in Slater street and two in Matthew Street and Great Charlotte streets, for example, when the whole streets are lined with pubs, even in view on some of the pictures (you showed O'Briens and didn't mention the Jacaranda next door which is in the picture). Odd.
There called bars, since when was the jacaranda ever a pub? Hence the name jacaranda bar! If you don’t know the difference between a bar & a pub I’d lay off the Carling 😉
