Thank you, thank you!!! After having not used my Predator chipper/shredder for a few months, it would not start after hundreds of pulls. I drained the gas from the carburetor as you showed and it started up after just a few pulls!! You saved my butt.
Have you tried cleaning the carb? It means you have a very small piece of dirt or dust that is not letting enough gas into the cylinder when you take the choke off. Clean the carb and that should do the trick.
Need help with mine, it idles but it sounds like its cammed. Sometimes it dies out, then I have to pull it to start it, after doing that I try giving it throttle but it stalls. I've cleaned the whole carb, checked for air leaks. I'm super lost
@@lucid4984 i just figured out the problem, wasn't even the carburetor. It was the spark plug. Thing was fouled to hell and back with oil, and gas. Got myself a new spark plug and she runs like a dream now!
@@lucid4984 dumb question, but do you have the motor choked when starting it? Also I'd try something here... squirt a little fuel in the cylinder threw the spark plug holes and see if it turns over

Changed out the carb on mines the only way I can get it to start is if im holding the throttle. Carb was tuned to specks im lost on this one any pointers.. O yea so when I was draing gas from the bowl I started it up just to see and it ran without shutting off the minute I closed the drain to stop the gas from leaking it shut off
One year late but the predator 212 is designed to turn off when the engine tips over. This is called the "oil sensor" which is the yellow cable next to the kill switch. You can youtube how to remove it. The engine will shut off when the oil is low and most of the time a 212 will be placed at a weird angel on a go cart making it shut off because the engine thinks it's not getting enough oil (even though it is)
I just bought myself one and it won't start out of the box. I checked the spark and it works, I can smell fuel when I pull the cord. I'm thinking when I hooked up the new fuel line I messed with the carburetor and knocked something loose. I'll have to take a look at it tomorrow. I think I seen what I did wrong. What are those linkages you put on there at the end? What are those for because I took mine off and couldn't figure out where they went back on it.
I put the stage one kit from go power sports on the engine and I put the upgraded jet on there and now it won’t start? Do you think it’s because of the jet? Should I put the old one back on?
CZcams how to "tune a carberator" you could be giving it too much air and its choking. Or giving it too much fuel and its drowning. Since you put a stage 1 from powersports im guessing you put just the exaust pipe and air filter. Those air filters are huge!!! And giving it too much air. You'll need to tune it down because giving it to much air will choke it out. Might even have to change the air filter only
Make sure if you order this engine that it doesn't come from California or any state with emission laws that effect small engines I bought this engine and it ran rough. It surged smelled as if it was flooding studied up on it there is no adjustment for air fuel flow had to order a new adjustable carb. Only 22 dollars with tune up parts but from time engine arrived till use was 5 weeks. Beware !!!
I'd clean the carb again. Either the main get or the inlet is dirty. Sounds like a little is getting through when starting but not enough to keep it running.

What if the engine doesn’t want to run at all even with starter fluid. What’s the problem there
Have you checked for spark?
Double check it's on. Check that it has oil (these have oil sensors that cut power if the oil is low). Check if you are getting spark from the plug.

@@BAMaher mine has a good spark, everything seems fine but I can’t tell so I’ll try the spark plug but I cleaned the carb and it won’t start at all

If it starts and then dies it's a carb issue. Was the carb an aftermarket one? Sometimes, even new ones, still have issues out of the box.

Did you try cleaning out the jet? That would be my first guess of the issue. Since it starts the port for the choke is not clogged just the main jet.

I used regular car oil for a go kart and it worked for about 10 minutes now it won't start could the oil be a problem its a brand-new go kart
