That's the truth. My cat is a little over 15 right now and sadly is going through spine degradation. We have been trying to keep him comfortable since he is the last of our 3 cats we had. He is the youngest of them. But sadly it is pretty much time for us to say our goodbyes in my household as well.

I remember my kitty dying by this you know how it feels I didn't eat for days and was crying all day and it was because of a vet he could be saved but the vet wasn't for cats he was for rats and bunnies but he didn't tell us he gave wrong medications and that caused my Kitty's death If I find that person ever again I am gonna kill him ngl man I'm so angry and sad

I remember going back to that song month after month, year after year, for so many years. Fast forward to December 5th, 2021 at 4:30am; I'm sitting in front of multiple thousand dollars worth of PC equipment and monitors and "The Mean Kitty Song" pops into my head. After 3:30 seconds of childhood nostalgia, the cruel reality of life shows its ugly hand in the recommended video section, which brings me here. Rest in peace, Sparta.

You and Sparta were one of my first introductions to CZcams, and a very entertaining and loving introduction at that. 15 years later, I'm playing with my 3 year old siamese and had a sudden reminder to "The Mean Kitty Song" so I looked it up again, and I didn't expect to be crying at 2AM. You and Sparta brought me so much joy, and I am so sorry to hear about his passing, especially so late after it happened. You both brought so much love and joy to a growing 8 year old experiencing the internet for the first time, and you both will forever be apart of my life in a positive light. I’m still fucked up over the time my cat chewed the line off a fishing rod I didn’t know had a hook attached. She was completely fine but I’ll never know if she actually swallowed the hook or just fishing line bc I panicked and pulled it from her mouth. I’m paranoid as hell of her getting into anything now and still remember her tiny meows and watering eyes when I held her 😭
I know the feeling, and I wish I didn't. That moment when your pet is in pain and confused and looks to you because they trust you, thinking that you will be able to help somehow like you always have. But as much as you wish you had the power to take the pain away you can't, all you can do is hold them and know it is likely a goodbye. Life is so cruel.

I’m sorry man I just can’t agree. I’ve lost many family members and many pets. I lost a cat that I grew up with for 16 years but I recently lost my mother. It’s worse losing a family member but it’s still a horrible thing to lose a pet :(

Found this channel when I was about 8 years old - it distracted me from my mothers passing at the time. I'm 18 now and Sparta always had a special place in the back of my mind, finding joy in the little mean kitty. Even after i moved on, I'd come to check this Channel every so often - it'd still cheer me up when i was in a slump. It pains me to think that I'm 2 years late to the news but I came to cheer myself up after my dog passed from cancer. Pets really don't live long enough. I'm seeing this a year after it happened. I had just gone through my own loss 2 months before you lost him. I know he's not in pain, just as Sparta isn't. But i just wanted to say I'm glad you were blessed with such a great cat. Every now and then an animal that comes along that just gets you. They can all fit in..... but the best ones just FIT........ We just lost our cat of 20 plus years today....I buried her with every honor I could think of and in the bed that was hers....after grieving for several hours I thought I'd rewatch this video...seeing how you grieved and honored Sparta and the message to keep on loving....that's what I intend to do....thank you Torrie...see you again someday...
I had to put my dog down recently in a similar way. She got lethargic and ate less for a day or two, then had a seizure and wasn't able to stand up easily. We took her to the vet and were told she had a tumor and there was nothing that could be done for her. Me and my dad and sibling sat with her in the room for about half an hour, petting her and telling her goodbye, before the vet came in and gave her the injection. We all started crying when the vet told us her heart had stopped. I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet means losing a family member. I find comfort in knowing my pet didnt suffer, and I hope you find similar comfort in your decision to keep Sparta from suffering, as well as knowing that you were there when he passed. I know I'll never forget looking into my dog's eyes for the last time. Thank you for sharing. I miss my dog so much, and it was so painful to put her down, but somehow it's comforting to know this is a shared human experience. We love them and we grieve them, and the grieving hurts, but it softens with time. And in the end, the love is what we remember. Not the pain.

I'm devastated I'm only just finding out about this. I adopted my little kitty a few years ago and his markings and colouring reminded me of a funny little kitty I grew up watching and singing about so it felt natural for me to name him Sparta and play his song for him. I resisted adopting more kittens . I had one more adult cat . But, I took on the 2 kittens. It was a year latter my big boy passed away. So to all who think the hurt is to much to bear, an empty home is no place to grieve !

Found this channel when I was about 8 years old - it distracted me from my mothers passing at the time. I'm 18 now and Sparta always had a special place in the back of my mind, finding joy in the little mean kitty. Even after i moved on, I'd come to check this Channel every so often - it'd still cheer me up when i was in a slump. It pains me to think that I'm 2 years late to the news but I came to cheer myself up after my dog passed from cancer. Pets really don't live long enough. Corey, I hope you know that you gave that cat the absolute world. Sparta loved you so much. Keep loving and keep being loved.

I know it’s been 2 years.. but I’m sorry for your loss… I watched a lot of your videos as a teenager. Youngest brother just told me he passed and I didn’t even realize he remembered Sparta. I lost my cat Singer suddenly to a uti and then cardiac arrest… Sparta was special to all of us who enjoyed his content and even more so to you and your family. He is and always will be missed and loved.

I just heard of Spartas passing and wanted to say “the mean kitty song” was one of the very first videos I ever watched on CZcams back in 07. It gave me so much joy when I was younger and still today I get a giggle out of the video. I wish I had known you had a channel all these years later. I’m so sorry for your loss but I hope it helps you heal knowing the joy you and him created in a lasting memory for me

We just lost our cat of 20 plus years today....I buried her with every honor I could think of and in the bed that was hers....after grieving for several hours I thought I'd rewatch this video...seeing how you grieved and honored Sparta and the message to keep on loving....that's what I intend to do....thank you Torrie...see you again someday...
I had to put my dog down recently in a similar way. She got lethargic and ate less for a day or two, then had a seizure and wasn't able to stand up easily. We took her to the vet and were told she had a tumor and there was nothing that could be done for her. Me and my dad and sibling sat with her in the room for about half an hour, petting her and telling her goodbye, before the vet came in and gave her the injection. We all started crying when the vet told us her heart had stopped.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet means losing a family member. I find comfort in knowing my pet didnt suffer, and I hope you find similar comfort in your decision to keep Sparta from suffering, as well as knowing that you were there when he passed. I know I'll never forget looking into my dog's eyes for the last time.
Thank you for sharing. I miss my dog so much, and it was so painful to put her down, but somehow it's comforting to know this is a shared human experience. We love them and we grieve them, and the grieving hurts, but it softens with time.
And in the end, the love is what we remember. Not the pain.

I'm devastated I'm only just finding out about this. I adopted my little kitty a few years ago and his markings and colouring reminded me of a funny little kitty I grew up watching and singing about so it felt natural for me to name him Sparta and play his song for him. I'm so truly devastated. Thank you for sharing Sparta's joy and love with us as we grew up. Watching this was heartbreaking and you know what? I had my lil guy Sparta with me laying beside me to make it bearable.
