I am 71 so you have a few years on me but I have - like you - waited a while for my Bonnie! And I was just as thrilled as the kid I was waiting for her all these years
Well, I bought this on Saturday in Thailand. Here it cost me 9,900 GBP and it's worth every penny. This is one beautiful, magical iconic bike. I rode it home (14km) and I felt like a move star. The guy in the review said it will put a big smile on your face - it certainly did.
Bought a 2014 Bonneville T100 Black. It’s now 9 years old and it still puts a huge smile on my face when I throw a leg over it. The bike still runs like a dream.
Three years ago I brought the Scrambler 900 which was my first bike as it was about a month after passing my test. Planed on running it for two years and moving on to something bigger but after three years I'm still riding it and I love it. Don't think I will ever sell it, I found the perfect bike for myself on the first on.
@@kfiji Well i was a new rider when i had mine and i haven't crashed it yet. I think the 900cc is spot on, while not underpowered it won't try to kill you. Its nicly ballanced between the two. I've been riding ten years now and its still enough for me. That said i drive a lorry which takes forever to get up to speed so any bike feels quick to me. I was planing to sell it after a few years and buy something bigger but after two years i was still having way to much fun on it and i just didn't want to sell it so i haven't moved onto a bigger bike. To be honest now i don't think i ever will.
I have a 2013 T100 and love it, would not change it as runs great, only thing which made it better was fitting Avon Roadrider tyres. Now you can have real fun, it loves being thrown into a corner and you always get home with a smile on your face.
I fell in love with this bike years ago from the video I forgot all about the video and color of the bike. And just bought the same exact bike and saw the video again and said OMG it’s the one!! So happy.
"If you look at this bike as a blank canvas, your blank canvas, then its an awesome place to start." Thanks for the great review and the truely inspiring words.
As reviewer and some people here have already said, this bike really is for fun and to describe it as a blank canvas is spot on. I just purchased this exact model - I'm a Brit living in NYC, and even here this turns heads. But I saw the gold/white accents on the bike as a chance to add to that vintage flavour, so far a brown Slammer seat and Biltwell Thruster grips from British Customs and I'm still planning on adding more. It may not be a real vintage Bonnie but you can certainly make it look like one, and you get the bonus of modern technology. Can't speak to the issue of oil or electric problems, hopefully those are just rumours or bad luck. Friend of mine has an all-black 2012 Scrambler and while it's technically the same as mine it doesn't have the same flare, I think the 2014 T100 has the ability to be customised far beyond most recent Triumph models. And as others have said, this bike is for fun more than anything.
Here, in Bucharest, is 01:28 AM, it's raining like there no tomorrow and I just came home riding my Bonnie T100 (SMQ edition) ...well, it was pure pleasure. Never lost contact with the asphalt, especially in poodles, never felt insecure. I've bought my baby two years ago (new) and 12000 km later I'm still madly in love with her. Never had oil leaking issues, radiator leaking or whatever problems I hear others had with their T100 so I must be lucky then...
Fantastic review. After riding Harley Davidsons' for many years, I've only just discovered the joys of owning a Triumph. Retro, cool, and very well built (without the attitude)...
I have a BMW G650GS and although I knew about Triumph, never cared to pay a visit to a dealer (also, there are only two of them in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil). Then came Friday, Jan 29 2016, and while attending a small motorcycle fair in town I got my eyes on an orange Bonneville T100, sat on it and boy, was I in love. Next day I went to the dealer and tested drive it. Let me put it this way: there seems to be no middle term with this moto: either you love it or hate it (or aren't in the riding motorcycles world). I loved it, from the looks to the very comfortable riding position, to the power. I'd also like to congratulate the folks of Auto Trade for this BEAUTIFUL video. Some might not agree, but it focuses on what matters, which are impressions, images, sights and the like. For lots of numbers and specs I can go to the manufacturer's site. On a video I want to see it and the video makes me want to stop writing this and buy a T100!
Ten years ago, I bought one of the very first Thruxtons sold in Canada. Now I want another one of these wonderful twins, but this time make it a T100. They are, as you said, utterly charming. Btw, I've seen a couple of you video road tests. They are very well made and the choice of music is absolutely spot-on. It perfectly suits the bike being tested, its sound, and the on-screen delivery of the commentary. Bravo.
What a super cool, laid back, happy video. I've just picked up my brand new Triumph Bonneville T100 SE and watched this video many times over to keep me going till it arrived! Cheers 😄
You surpassed yourselves with this one Auto Trader. Everything about this video is just beautiful. Thanks to you, I'm buying a Bonnie and travelling to the Lake DIstrict this or next summer. Cheers!
This color combo is just stunning! I saw one at a Triumph rally 4 years ago. I thought my yellow Thunderbird Sport was pretty until I saw the T100...they both are. I like the more relaxed riding position of the Bonnie though.
Assembled in Thailand... no thanks. Have a 2013 honda crf250l and it leaked coolant from the weep hole from mile 2 on the odometer. Fixed under warranty. Test rode a new 2013 scrambler with 7 miles. When I got back to the showroom after riding it for 7 miles, it had a leak from the radiator hose. I own a 2013 triumph street triple r bought new. Had a coolant leak as well and some other leaks from the clutch cover. Fixed under warranty. All three bikes assembled in Thailand. Definitely some quality issues.
Actually only the Bonneville line are assembled in Thailand, all other models are made in the UK. The coolant seep issue is on all triumphs, usually little more than just snugging the hose clamps, now truimph is putting spring clamps on all new production to hopefully fix that. Oddly, as a triumph tech, I've had far fewer problems with the Thai built Bonnies than the earlier UK made ones. I've gotten into the habit of checking clutch and alternator cover hardware on setup and services on all bikes as the heat cycling seems to cause the gaskets to distort. But to be honest, the quality of construction and materials of these bikes is quite high. I work on a lot of Japanese bikes and overall the detail of construction and materials is pretty cheap. Controls, sidestands, triple clamps, levers, bodywork on them is not really made to last and feels flimsy and cheap. I guess I've been working on BMW's and Triumphs for too long!
Oldbmwr100rs sorry but you are incorrect. Bonnies are not the only thai built triumph bikes. My 13 street triple r is thai built as evidenced by the VIN and so are scramblers also verified by the VIN.
Oldbmwr100rs sorry but you are incorrect. Bonnies are not the only thai built triumph bikes. My 13 street triple r is thai built as evidenced by the VIN and so are scramblers also verified by the VIN.
That probably explains why they're so well made to the point where I see so few problems with them. When I said the Bonnie line, I meant all variants of the bonneville including the Americas and scrambler. I work on the bikes, I don't really care where it's made, just that it's made well. I wouldn't worry if it were Thai built to be honest, I'm not seeing a lot of the problems with them that I've seen with earlier models. I've replaced so many fork seals (not triumph's fault really) on the larger bikes, as well as coolant leaks (triumph's fault, they need better spec hoses, they know this). I just fix and maintain the bikes, I've owned several and like the product. Lucky thing is that there are a number of companies making motorcycles so You have Your pick of whatever You want. Having owned over 25 bikes in the last 30 years and logged the better part of 250K miles, I know what works for Me.
I agree, if it's not made in Britain by Brits it's not a Triumph. I bought my Sportster cause it's made in the USA, from some Japanese parts of course...wait a minute...
Brilliant review .. the Bonnie is THE perfect example of a bike that is far better than the sum of its parts . Upgrade whatever is important to you ( suspension is a good place to start ) and create your own perfect bike.
Great pictures and sound - congratulation to your team. I bought this bike last week! I saw this video a lot of times and I will spend my next holiday in England with the bike! Thanks for the wonderful video!! Today I have got the Bonnie home! It is a really good seated position, and I'm 1,85 m! I have just the A2 (
Had mine for 11yrs and I'am still in love with it. Only problem has been from my dealership eg. when the valve shims needed doing they could'nt undo the cam bolts and said that I must have done them myself (I hadn't) so they couldn't cover me if somethink went wrong
Purchasing the green 2010 T100 next week with all the nice mods including King & Queen seat and after market exhausts. Will look great sitting next to my '17 MT09. Both awesome bikes!
Im buying a Triumph I don't want no other brand…. something about these bikes they have soul I love the look and the price and Quality…. and of course the sound…
Oh, how I wish I could afford such a bike. I've always loved vintage bikes over more modern machines...part of that being the more traditional "standard" riding position versus either the sportbike or cruiser positions. The fact that Triumph has created a classic looking bike with some modern upgrades as they have makes this a very appealing machine, in deed. If only I could afford one....
I miss my 2006 all black T100, when i ride it, people stops me and ask me what year it was like it was from 60' 70' , runs great, looks great. My cons, parts are extremely expensive compare to other bikes, like harleys or hondas, and sometimes a little hard to find, you will find amazing customize parts, but you will have to pay! The chrome , its horrible bad, it will rust everything, other thing you will need a custom exhaust for sound and torque!!!! but beleive me, if you got the money and want to go for it... just go for it!!!!! AAAA+++ for me its one of the best cool looking retro bike... it piece of art and great history!!!
On my 7th Bonneville now and finally found the unicorn...they certainly get under your skin... F&R sports tuned suspension, carburettor version, big bore Wiseco 904, HD clutch, sweet sounding StainTunes and fresh Sports Demons. What a 🍑! 🌪🚀
Hi I have a 2005 T100 carb model .Bought with only 800 mls on it .Think the colour is called Daytona yellow. It's my first bike I love it .But have changed quite a few things on it . ie Norman Hyde m bars .Stock bars when doing over 75 might aswell of had an 8x 4 sheet of ply on bike . Upgraded front and rear suspension .After market exhaust cans.Cafe racer style seat. Short rear mudguard . 60s style Lucas rear light. Alloy bullet style front & rear indicators.( stock look to harly ish.) Halcyon end bar mirrors ( stock to Micky mouse ear ish lol)
Great videos on this channel! I'm so disappointed with the videos most professional publications put up, I tend to look for amateur reviews. But these are really well done (also like that you're not afraid to mention the weak spots of bikes), never expected that from a channel called Auto Trader.
I've been watching this over and over again! What a wonderful review of a beautiful bike! And it's very cool to see how much fun the reviewer has :). I can feel the passion (and want a T100 now. BAD. VERY BAD!! ;)).
I WANT ONE!!!!! I've wanted a scrambler since it was used on Doctor Who. I think the T100 is great. I guess I'll have to go to the Triumph store in my town and check the price..... Great video!!!
I bought my T100 about two years ago. If you live in the UK or in the states where you will primarily be riding back roads at ~60MPH, this bike is for you. If you are expecting to roadtrip on the interstate, I suggest you look elsewhere. This bike is about classic feel and easy ridin'.
I'm so close to buying a Bonny! I can feel it. Three Harleys and a Zuki have been fun, but I will have that Bonneville! Very informative review; you are enthusiastic and a lover of bikes, that's obvious.
+Auto Trader Got it :D A gorgeous 2015 Phantom Black mag wheel. The biggest bike I've owned so far. I would like to change the suspension and exhaust, but even stock, it is a bike that puts a smile on my face :)
I've seen reviews on the model, but most of the people seem to be very negative towards its features, and riding experience. One rather dumb thing in my view that I saw someone complaining about in a review was how an engine mount was painted green, and didn't at all go with the motif of the bike. I'm thinking, "and you don't have a spanner to remove that and a can of paint to make it more aesthetically pleasing?" I would however appreciate a video.
Cheers John. A nice review and fair to the bike, but please check facts on where they are built... SOME bikes are built in Thailand for the far east market. But you can check via the frame numbers. Not sure why people are that worried about this anyway as Triumph quality is spot on anyway, wherever they are built. I have a Thruxton here in Qatar and if I had the bike in the UK would change shocks and fork springs. Otherwise - as you say there are plenty of great aftermarket parts to improve the range of machines. I love the Californian based British Customs parts... Predator pipes etc!
Thanks for your comments, Colin. I do agree with you - for me, it's provenance that defines a product like the Bonneville, not geography. However, I thought it was important to raise in this video the fact that all UK Bonnevilles are now assembled in Thailand and shipped to the UK. That's the word of Triumph Motorcycles, not me. Love predator pipes, you should also check out Dime City Cycles, if you haven't already. Magnificent! Ride safe, J
Superb video, I loved the part of "The Blank Canvas", I want to buy a Bonne for that particular reason and make it more of a café racer ;) Cheers and kind regards.
Of course ! T100 black version the bike is very handling seat position is ok handlebars just à little too high (I'm 1,78m) the sound is very deep and nice it consum 5,5/100 gasoline it´s true that i need perhaps a windshield be cause over 110 km/h it becomes inconfortable but it the charm of this Bonnie ! I'm very happy with this bike !
Auto Trader The Steve McQueen edition is great fun! Though I have to plan an extra 5-10 minutes every ride to spend with the chit-chatting passersby! Seems everyone wants to ask me about it. Here's a link to a photo gallery I've started: www.pbase.com/d30/triumph_motorcycle
A Classic, smooth running bike you can keep for decades. Comfortable riding position with an engine that's suited for all types of riding. The look will NEVER go out of style and gets great mpg. If you ride alone? For a few bucks, you can gear the front +2 and the back -2 and you'll have a super smooth, lower rpm, thumper ride with about +10 mpg...

Excellent video and review! I like the old style looks and the soul of the Triumph brand. In my youth I had wet dreams about the Triumph Bonneville 650 1969 model. However, I don't like the lack of quality or rather lack of perfection to details. Personally I like to ride fast now and then and sometimes on rough roads and I don't feel this bike will be right for my use, but it would be nice to have as a second bike for nostalgia.
I sat on a Bonnie at the dealer today. It feels heavy compared to my Street Triple, and the riding position is similar but just slightly off. I think it's because the bars are higher up on the Bonnie. I agree the position of the key switch is strange.
In it's basic form it's a slow heavy old looking bike. Add tail tidy, aftermarket exhaust, rear shocks, front springs and you may have something worth having. Despite that an inspiring review - thanks.
Did you say performance? (very subjective I would say and relative to). The rectifyer was put there on BSA, Triumphs and probably Nortons in about 1968. the reason being they used to over heat located anywhere else, but under the headlight they don't. It is not clumsy, it is practical which a bike must be if you intend riding it. But if you want to ponse around and just look at it, you are correct, the sculpture has a flaw.
nowt cooler than a bonny in t shirt n half face helmet!! ace... 2001 to 2006 british made carb models with metal tank badges etc THE BEST!!! and still can get hold of one cheap in uk,even better.
I owned two Bonnie 650's back in the late 60's early 70's. I love and I hated them. I loved the way they handled, sounded, and the classic custom look. kind of like the retro Enfield 500 bullet The price was O.K. $500 ea. Ihated them because they both had a nasty habit of breaking down (all of the time) How are they these days? I see consumer report has the Brit bikes at the bottom of the list. Please tell me they have improved. I love bikes with the old retro look, Japanese bikes seem quite reliable, but they don;t put that kid at Christmas look on y face when I think about them except maybe a V-Max at a drag strip. I don't get out there enough to justify buying one. Thanks for the advice and info.

Brilliant review! You've done it Again! This film made me want to take my own sweet Speedmaster out for a trip even though it's raining! Do some more!
We love working on the Triumph Bonneville here at motad!! great stuff! +1
I love your programme. You guys do lot of work to present it so neatly. Keep up the good work fellas..
Vinod Murthy Hi vinod, thanks for your comment. We work very hard to keep the high standards we set ourselves. We're very glad you think we manage it!
I caught a glimpse of a motorcycle in there somewhere
England´s landscapes are so beautiful! BTW, nice bike too!
On my 7th Bonneville now and finally found the unicorn...they certainly get under your skin... F&R sports tuned suspension, carburettor version, big bore Wiseco 904, HD clutch, sweet sounding StainTunes and fresh Sports Demons. What a 🍑! 🌪🚀
Hi
I have a 2005 T100 carb model .Bought with only 800 mls on it .Think the colour is called Daytona yellow.
The question everyone wants to know...
The song is Tom Rosenthal - Seasons under my bed.
You're welcome..
thanks will get this bike when i retire in 2-1/2 years @51 just right this bike for my first...looks great
It's not about the need to impress. It's about your reason to ride.
Just like life … customize it to make it your own.
Agreed, make it your own
Absolutely gorgeous area to ride in.
Great videos on this channel! I'm so disappointed with the videos most professional publications put up, I tend to look for amateur reviews. But these are really well done (also like that you're not afraid to mention the weak spots of bikes), never expected that from a channel called Auto Trader.
Hi Renzsu,
Thanks for the great comments! We really appreciate it as we put a lot of effort in to creating high quality objective reviews.
+Charles James about three weeks to get mine :D so excited too! White & gold :D
+Charles James Thanks for your comments. Please tell us how you get on with the Bonneville!
+Arturo Barrios Let us know how you get on with the Bonneville. We love to hear about how owners get on.
+Auto Trader Got it :D A gorgeous 2015 Phantom Black mag wheel. The biggest bike I've owned so far. I would like to change the suspension and exhaust, but even stock, it is a bike that puts a smile on my face :)
That's an amazing and true comment! The review is indeed great and enthusiastic!
beautifully shot review
I own one of these and it is a beauty to ride. If you ride it just once you will be hooked.
I'm still thinking about buying a Thruxton, even though the Bonneville looks fantastic.
Thanks for watching, Arielle West. We shall endeavour to get a Thruxton in for a review soon, so you can compare!
I've seen reviews on the model, but most of the people seem to be very negative towards its features, and riding experience. One rather dumb thing in my view that I saw someone complaining about in a review was how an engine mount was painted green, and didn't at all go with the motif of the bike. I'm thinking, "and you don't have a spanner to remove that and a can of paint to make it more aesthetically pleasing?"
I would however appreciate a video.
Have a look too at the fab Moto-Guzzi V7 Stone and Racer, almost perfect rivals to these two Triumphs and equally lovely bikes, worth a look too !!!
Thruxton is a Bonneville, just like the T100 is a Bonneville and the America is a Bonneville...just model designations...
That's my dream bike :) The whole video it's like a dream, the location is beautiful, a perfect sunday ride. Btw, what's the name of the boots?
Hi Daniel, Jon is wearing a pair of old Timberland boots.
Thanks for the up-date Jon, that's news to me. And the Dime City link, not heard of them before. Great stuff,
Cheers Col
10-4 on springs and shocks ... try TEC bike parts ..price's great
Superb video, I loved the part of "The Blank Canvas", I want to buy a Bonne for that particular reason and make it more of a café racer ;) Cheers and kind regards.
Great video, refreshing, well composed and brief. I like it.
I'm about to close a deal on used Bonneville Steve McQueen SE. It will be my first bike! Love the look of the matte khaki green.
Great stuff! You should let us know how you are get on with it. We'd love to hear what it's like to live with.
Auto Trader The Steve McQueen edition is great fun! Though I have to plan an extra 5-10 minutes every ride to spend with the chit-chatting passersby! Seems everyone wants to ask me about it. Here's a link to a photo gallery I've started:

TornadoCAN99 Thanks for letting us know. The bike looks fantastic and it's not surprising that passerby are interested in it. Very cool bike indeed.
Great review. Pretty cool bike, beautiful song and landscape.
Wonderful video, great music choice
Bar end mirrors would look nice on it
I just got this exact kind, I love it
Love Triumph Bonneville T100 :)
A Classic, smooth running bike you can keep for decades. Comfortable riding position with an engine that's suited for all types of riding. The look will NEVER go out of style and gets great mpg. If you ride alone? For a few bucks, you can gear the front +2 and the back -2 and you'll have a super smooth, lower rpm, thumper ride with about +10 mpg...
this guy makes some awesome reviews, inspired
Good review and nice video!
I am in doubt between the T100 and the HD 883...
Love the quality and style of your videos
eye fell in love with my 5 speed, front disc, 1974 650 Bonni back in 1975. She was built after the closer of the factory in aug 1974.
Such a nice vidéo !!!! This bike will be mine in 5 days !!!
Tell us all about it!
Got it?
that video is a piece of art...very nice done.
very nicely done review! I didn't expect such quality from a car trading website
Gringo Tom Thanks Tom. We have an editorial team who write both car and bikes editorial. Take a look here:www.autotrader.co.uk/bikes/content/all-bike-expert-reviews

This is a brilliant review
Antony Quintin Well, seeing as we had such a great cameraman...
Mate, I love your reviews.. just splendid!
One of the Best bikes I own,l love the ride.
This video was as beautiful as this bike is :)
my old literally had this same spec bike, including the colour delivered today !
Lucky swine, I'm jealous.
I sat on a Bonnie at the dealer today. It feels heavy compared to my Street Triple, and the riding position is similar but just slightly off. I think it's because the bars are higher up on the Bonnie. I agree the position of the key switch is strange.
Awesome. Pretty beautiful bike, Vintage Style with new techology on board. Im gonna buy one.
In it's basic form it's a slow heavy old looking bike. Add tail tidy, aftermarket exhaust, rear shocks, front springs and you may have something worth having. Despite that an inspiring review - thanks.
ANYTHING but a goddamn Harley! Nice bike!
The capacity on the fuel tank is 4.2 gallons. The mileage you list is 51MPG, so the range should be closer to 200 miles.
One of the best motorcycle review. :)
nowt cooler than a bonny in t shirt n half face helmet!! ace... 2001 to 2006 british made carb models with metal tank badges etc THE BEST!!! and still can get hold of one cheap in uk,even better.
Fantastic video, this guy is great
I really want this motorcycle...so classic and good in my eyes but in indonesia so expensive for this bike..thanks for d'review
These bikes are super sexy in jet black. It would be my first bike if I bought one but it is quite endearing isn't it. Thanks for the great video!
very inspiring song. troubles at every hour.
Haha
Nice! Classic rewiev! Very professionally! I was impressed!
This is all I need
Fantastic video!
I love the Bonnie's. (Own a 2009 from new)
I owned two Bonnie 650's back in the late 60's early 70's.
