I pick the tender upper part of the kangkong like half of the whole thing, snap all the green leaves. The half bottom part is tough, feed it to pigs or you can pickle it, doesn't really matter how long you cut it, you gonna chew it anyway 😊, normally your pointer finger length
There are beautiful places in the Philippines and nice people. I was born and raised in the Southern Philippines but living overseas for 20 some years. Life is really simple back home especially in the province/rural areas.

I was getting ready to move to Thailand when I came across your Philippines content and fell in love with the people. So I took a chance and decided to check out the Philippines first and I am now here happy as I have ever been living in the provence with my soon to be wife. If it wasn't for your content I would have never met the love of my life. We are heading to Panglao for a few days next month would love to say hello.

I'll start by saying I love all your content but the Philippines stuff the best. Now I will tell you that your chemistry with Anne is infectious and there is absolutely no way to deny that because it brightens every video she is in (even the one at the food fest where you just bumped into her). Now, that being said you are a "travel channel" and enjoy making your content around exploring new places and meeting new people, so in that regard I respect you as a man for keeping it friendly with Anne and enjoying each others company when your in town a good friends instead of leading her on or taking advantage of a situation. Maybe one day you will be done with all the travel and look to settle down or start a family and hopefully either her or someone like her will e there.
Now Anne, please start a youtube channel. You are getting better and more comfortable with every video you appear in and your simple traditional life is very appealing to many western audiences. You could build confidence but earn a decent living and I'm sure just by the support you could get from this channel alone would give you a very good start with building a solid base community.

Filipino food is mostly named by describing how it is cooked. For example, sinigang means cooked in sour soup. So, you have sinigang na hipon/pasayan (shrimp in sour soup), sinigang na baboy (pork in sour soup), or sinigang na isda (fish). Adobo means cooked in vinegar, garlic and something salty like salt or soy sauce. Pinirito is fried (piniritong manok, piniritong isda). Nilaga is boiled (nilagang baka, nilagang baboy). Ginataan is cooked in coconut milk (Ginataang manok, ginataang gulay). Tinola is anything cooked in ginger soup (tinolang manok, tinolang isda). Hope this helps.

I’ve been married to a Filipina for over 40 years now. Raised our kids and they have moved out. It’s just us too, and she still cooks for 12. She is physically incapable of cooking in small amounts.

"ha" does not have a direct translation to english nor it is not a word but it can mean a lot of things depending on how it is pronounced.
On this video, the way that she used "ha" is like a stern warning or reminder.
For oy, it is commonly used when they speak bisaya, something that they got used to when they speak. In tagalog, oy is used to get attantion of someone like saying hey. So it depends too on which filipino dialect, this also applies to ha, ba, etc.

Your video made me smile plus remember my passed. I am now an old man and enjoy watching you tube video's of men in the Philippines as I lived there for years without leaving plus many visits. My first trip was over 50 years ago. However I had to return due to declining health. However I brought back the best part my bisaya wife. American's often ask me how I found such a beautiful good wife. And my answer is always the same . I traveled to remote parts of the Philippines looking for just that a good wife for me. And found one on a small Island. We are both old now and have a good life together. Remember you are now living the best part of your life so enjoy as life go by fast.

Your best videos are the ones with you and Anne by far :) Her being local offsets you being a foreigner and the combo just works. The more videos you do with her the better :) She adds a bit of comedy and local flavor that some of your videos without her are missing. It was the videos of the both of you that got me watching and convinced me to try some of your other ones. Not saying anything bad about your other ones, but yall are far more interesting with both of you. My filipina is also far more entertaining that i am and i just admit it :) Can't wait till we can move to PH and just enjoy life. Can't stand being here in the US. I love Texas but....The US as a whole....NOPE! Done.....

Same for keeping the bones in chicken, however I would still peel the shrimp and just add the shells and head to a fine net bad and boil in the soup then just remove the bad. Maybe its an American thing but I'm with Jonathon and just like to eat m food when its finished.

I hope you get a chance to go there. It's pretty nice. I've also been to Cebu City, Manila, Tacloban, Guiuan, and more. I love the Philippines so much, I want to retire there and be laid to rest there, I consider the Philippines to be more of my home than I consider America. I love your videos. I hope you can find a beautiful pinay to be with. Mine were awesome until they became Americanized.
Anne is a natural genuine gem. I can see why you come back to make more videos with her in it. Your likes and joins from viewers go way up. I watched the videos with Anne in them. They are magnetic. Devein the shrimp = pull out the intestines that hold the poop. Otherwise, you'll get a off taste and the dish will spoil faster... BTW, you're picking the items up with your foot by curling your toes. She picks it up between the large and middle toes.
She's been practicing all her life.
It tastes better if you include the shell and head during cooking. Just like Louisiana dishes. But it's a pain to eat. You know if shrimp is not fresh when the shell sticks to the meat. Fresh shrimp is easy to deshell when it's cooked.

The shells and the shrimp heads actually give the soup more flavor, so it would be a waste to de-shell them before cooking 😊

The shell is not taken out because it adds more flavor to the soup, also keeps freshness/ suppleness to the shrimp-- for a 'french' method-- your option of peeling first is done but also, squish flavor out from the shells separately , filter, then put back into the soup. What's missing there is gabi-- root crop/ yam , boiled into soup to mush-- this would make it cloudy ( also with fresh tamarind with flesh, softened to mush, filtered later ) but with more texture, then, also atsuwete seeds, filtered-- will bring it to a sublime dimension
yup. sinigang with deshelled shrimp will have so much less flavor

Hi Jonathan, when someone finishes the sentence with 'ha' it's an assumptive close and you are expected to say 'yes' or 'okay' to the other person hahahaha. In some context, it can also be used to ask someone to repeat what they said.
"oi" is speaks everywhere in the Philippines it means "hey listen" it also speak as "hoy" .. just a little trivia😊
And you will lose the shrimpy flavor when you removed the skin and head before cooking.
Makes sense about the shrimp. I'm going to try that next time.
