Filipino friendliness with the westerners has to do with their white-skin preference and being a former colony of the US. In the long past kids myself included thought all white people are Americans and we'd say "Hi Joe!" to them, Joe I later learned was how they were called during WW II. Also, McArthur liberated us from the Japanese. One more, Americans though not all, generally wouldn't smirk at gross-looking foreign foods like some of ours. Filipinos on the other hand, wouldn't ever try bagong--had it not been their own food. Cheers for for being adventurous.
Good day Sir! Does Rosetta have Korean Language?
You need to go to Zamboanga where Chavacano is spoken. Chavacano is a Spanish based Creole language. Your Spanish is good enough that youâll be able to speak to native Chavacano speakers. Zamboanga should also make some great CZcams episodes. Enjoy the Philippines!
Thank you for suggesting Rosetta Stone! I sincerely appreciate the link!
Hi! I am a Filipino Canadian and I have lived in Canada for 30 years. Your Vlog was suggested to me by a friend from back home. Needless to say, I am a new subscriber! I look forward to âtravellingâwith you and your journey in my homeland, which I miss very much! Enjoy!
One of my favorite things about the Philippines is that even those in poverty find something to smile about. I agree my stress drops so much when I am there that I dont have to take anxiety meds
You don't have to convince me. I've been to the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. I love my Singaporean friends. They are so polite. But you just can't beat the friendliness of the people of the Philippines.
I've worked with Filipinos here in the US for almost 40 years and it's more than them being just friendly. I seem to identify with them so closely.
I'm glad you found your life there in the PI.
I know you meant PH, but when i saw PI i instantly though âpilipeensâ đđ
@@Epidombe PI = Philippine Islands.
@@BillGreenAZ makes sense. You learn something new everyday!
..PH to be precise...it s the official international code/identification for the Philippines...we dont use PI...the word is equated as sonnababitch'!
@@sichonesssichoness1212 I'm sorry but you're taking this too literal when you bring in "the official international code". "PI" is slang used all over the Philippines. What next? Are you going to tell me I can't use the word "Yank" to describe Americans because the official international code is "US". đ
Goodness I am so excited so be leaving cold Canada for the warm Philippines in 2 weeks!! Thank you Jonathan for your positive energy and friendliness. You are an inspiration for me. You are correct about the language, I went to Costa Rica, SW coast and I struggled with communication. The language is one of the reasons I am coming to the Philippines. The wonderful people is/are the #1 reason.
Going in the Phillipines in 2 weeks too. Tired of the cold weather in TO
@@antonioespanol2123 Wonderful Antonio, we are both escaping the polar vortex. Impeccable timing. January has been beautiful in Calgary, I have been cycling daily since New Years. Have fun mate. R n R here we come.
you'll definitely love it here....try blending in with the locals, explore different provinces and ofcourse the food...lots of places ro visit and fun activities ro do đ just always carry a folding umbrella with u when u stroll around places, weather can be very unpredictable....dont go with some unknown tour guides, rather ask a few vloggers if they know someone better to show u around...though its always fun to explore by yourselvez...theirs alot of options.
Plus the Asian women are hot and they want that white meat
Wow that's awesome. In advance Welcome to the Philippines very soon we're excited for u
Those people are so lovely. I'm counting the days till I get to go there.
the respect and hospitality of the people are awesome

I love the philipino people!
Soo much personality and so genuine!
America has a lot to learn
I grew up in the Phils, the first time I went to visit another country, I was not expecting the people to be so quiet and reserved and seem cold as I was expecting the locals to be like Filipinos who seem to be always laughing and having a good time. I thought there was a problem with that country until i went to visit 10 more countries and I noticed the same vibe and I realized that thereâs nothing wrong with them, itâs just that back home pinoys are culturally laid back and as we call it in tagalog, âkalogâ. But I must admit i cringle when i see pinoys abroad and they're noisy as hell in public transpos lol
I canât wait to travel there one day to experience the noisy happy culture, even if it is a culture shock. Iâm a pretty shy guy and can get away with it because my country everyone is anti social in public. Seems like itâd be a fun experience lol
@@Aubatron You are welcome and enjoy the scenery and the people, though it is not perfect just be patient, patience is a virtue. đ€©
Hahahahhađ
Yeah same I love my Pinoys but they do be noisy as hell overseas ( obvs they stand out more because people are quiet)
I went to Philippines i didn't expect such a dirty country and very bad food. But yes, nice people there
Watching this video with temp plans to spend month of February in Spain or Colombia (I speak fluent Spanish) but have 2 remote employees in the Philippines and was trying to get out there to explore... This video is making me reconsider spending February in Philippines instead of Colombia or Spain. Thanks for the videos đđŒ
February would be a good month coz if you go a little later like March - start of summer season. Itâll be tooooo hot. But perfect for beaches. But still so hot and humid. Even the waters will be warm.
Hi there. It's really worth it to visit Philippines. Months of February to April are the ideal time to explore the country. People of the Philippines will certainly welcome you. Have a great time.
I'm so proud of you, Jonathan. You're even making an effort to learn our language. Enjoy learning and continue to have fun in the Philippines!
Iâm trying! Tagalog is a bit more difficult than Bisaya though đ.. the verbs are super long! Haha
As I lived in Mexico for 12 years, so of course the Spanish language it's just so easy to be spoken and understood in the Ph especially if your native English too.
Thank you for all the kind and wonderful things youâre saying about the Philippines. The country side is really naturally BEAUTIFUL, the BLUE CLEAR WATER and the
DELICIOUS FOOD. Nothing like the hospitality of the Filipinos đâ€ïž
Hi, I really love your videos and it's nice you appreciate Filipino values. Actually, as you experience Philippines, you'll see that people are always happy even they dont have so much. They will offer you what they have no matter how little they have. They value family and their loveones so much, they appreciate every single thing. That's the reason we Filipinos are very resilient with problems, tragedy, struggles in life, typhoon, any obstacle, name it. It is because, for us, we're not after with material things. Yes, we love to have beautiful life, nice to have enuf money, but again those are just a "bonus" to have. For us, we are rich because of our Faith with God and rich because we have our family, our friends, our loveones. Those things are our treasures which cant be wiped out by any typhoon or floods. We find wealth through the spirit that we have innate, the good vibes, the happines from within, the gratefulness in everything be it good or bad situation. We have problems but for us it's okay coz we can get thru all of that because we believe we are not alone, that we have God and we have each other[friends, family] to rely on. Try to search net and you'll see filipinos smiling, playing basketball in midst of typhoon, floods, and etc. As they say, filipino spirit is waterproof. I know that my comment is too long, but I really just want to express how proud I am to be a filipino and nice to know that you're experiencing real pinoy vibes. âŁïžâŁïžâŁïž
God bless you. âšđ·đđïž
Love and blessings to you. âšđâŁïžđïž

As I always say, the people is the best import of my country. I am not saying this because I am a Filipino but really the people is what makes the Philippines truly a wonderful place to live. As you say Philippines is not perfect and no country is but what I can truly guarantee is that when you talk to Filipinos they will try to feel you at home.
completely agree!

Hey Jonathan! Glad you're enjoying my home country Philippines and that you feel safe. I live in WA State and being a minority sometimes feels scary, but PH is forever my home. Enjoy!
Great video from someone who did the opposite - I lived and grew up there but, moved to the US about 18 years ago. Anecdotally, there seems to be a lot more happier people there. Life is less complicated because many are satisfied with the simple things in life. Enjoy your stay and thanks making a cool video about the Philippines!
Great video!!! Enjoy life in the Philippines!đ
Itâs very peculiar because if you ask me why Filipinos are warm and friendly, I always say itâs because we grew up in such dire conditions that our tolerance for suffering is dialled all the way up which makes us appreciate the smallest things in life like friends, families, and building connections. But the thing is, there are so many other countries in the world that are the same as us and some even in worse situations but thereâs still something different that sets the Filipinos apart. It really is very strange but also very fortunate.
You are kindof doing exactly what I plan to do during my retirement that I just began...
Thank you for the positive vibes for the Philippines & its people.
we are happy to learn you feel happy hanging out w/ us filipino. we typically look at life positively regardless of what is thrown at us. we too, though, are also human. we feel down at times but what can you do, there is always a curve ball going your way. just live your life as you want it to be.

You found it too!!! Filipinos are the sweetest people I have ever met. So much so I found my wife here. Many of us from America are finding that women in America are just not nice to be around. Filipinas are sweet housewife and mommy types. If you want to see a happy girl just look at a Filipina holding a baby. And the babies...awwwww just melts your heart they are soooooo CUTE!!!
Thank you for loving the Philippines. Stay safe Jonathan. You speak fluent Spanish, we have some Spanish words in our dialect. Also, we have a place in the Philippines that speaks Spanish in Zamboanga.
Awesome new beach friends there Jonathan! There having a great time and so excited to try their food. Epic experience again!đđđ”đđșđž

I'm from the Philippines and to be honest, i'm the type of person who asks other people for directions since i'm not very good with it. So by the time that i wen to a different country, Australia to be specific, i forgot that people's culture are very very different from one another so when i asked a local from Sydney about directions like where this place is, the local answered me with "you have Google Maps, right?" then proceeded to turn the different way. I was so caught off guard since i'm used to Filipinos just helping me to the best that they can to point me in the right direction. Though i get it that we have different cultures. lol but yea, born and raised in the PH and will forever be proud of how approachable and kind people are here. :)
Thank you for the good word and enjoy your stay in our country!
Glad you're relaxed & happy, and enjoying interacting with the locals, my friend. May God keep you safe always.
It's never been easy to live in other country with no idea about its culture, the people themselves and even the language they speak. But, your stay in the Philippines kinda made an opposite perception.
Thank you brother for choosing the Philippines as your 2nd home.

Hi Jonathan, it is really evident by your videos that you are truly happy in the Philippines. With the beautiful landscape, the weather and the friendly people, it would be hard to beat. I think it really helped you that you had traveled since 2014 and had a lot of experience with the challenges of travel and living abroad.
